Excellent

Excellent writing and The new shows this fall have almost all been hugely disappointing, starting with the new "Law and Order: LA" which proves that the concept of the show is starting to get old, "The Event" is yet another bunch of twists and turns that will end in the middle of nowhere sooner or later and the hugely anticipated "Hawaii-Five-O" started out strong, but has now taken a turn for the worse, although it's still among the better new shows, which frankly isn't saying much.

"Blue Bloods", on the other hand, really stands out as a gritty and quite realistic police drama, made by the producers of the hugely successful and dearly missed "The Sopranos". Now, we get to see inside the daily lives of a family whose job is to solve crimes, instead of committing them, and thanks to an ensemble of gifted actors, it's quite interesting to see their interactions, both personally and professionally.

It's a war

The last episode of season 3 of Blue Bloods has the NYPD going to war with the Latin Kings like street gang that has taken total control of of the 'Bitter End' housing projects. At a community meeting the mayor David Ramsey is shot and wounded by a Asperger's Syndrome kid played by Omar Maskati.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are very similar to those of the Yussef Hawkins murder in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn many years ago. It was a gang and the rest of the gang egged on another mentally challenged kid Joey Fama to shoot the black kid who dared invade their turf. Fama was in many ways a dupe.

The gang leader Kamar DeLos Reyes is one crafty opponent who sacrifices one and all if need be. It was a close run thing in taking him down.

It also involved Ramsey breaking some of his policy decisions to bring law and order to the Bitter End. The climax is one of Blue Bloods best moments.

Great Episode

Great Season Fanale.

Season 1 Fanale with the getting rid of Blue Templar, Season 2 with the bomb threat, and this one with Bitterman Houses.

The only "catch" is that, this is pretty much the last Epic Fanale that is actually a fanale. The rest of the Season Fanalies, are just another episode.
