fabulous in every context
ankur-bhargava-200614 July 2014
These days TV series in India lost its freshness regarding story line and about its content. Recently I have watched this series I started watching on "Zindagi"(new TV channel in India) after seeing few episodes on TV I moved to Youtube and watched all episodes on my last weekend I couldn't stopped my self to do so. I really appreciate the direction. I salute to director who created a master piece. They way she treated the story and each and every character of this series. All actors in this performed his part amazingly specially Kashaf(Sanam) and Zarun(Fawad Khan). The relation between these two characters shows the reality between husband wife in very mature way. Watching this series is just like reading your favorite novel. This serial also taught a very good message as well which is still our society needs to learn a lot and this is the practical way to send message in society.

I really want "Sultana Siddiqui" to launch an new project in collaboration of indo-pak actors on any mind blowing story because I know she will make master piece again.

Finally with all regards to talented team of "Zindagi Gulzar Hai" I want to say thanks to entertain me personally.

Awesome! Loved every bit of it
shiz_umi4 May 2015
As soon as I watched the first episode, I was hooked. The girl who played Kashaf(Sanam Saeed) acted really good. It was the first time I was watching Sanam and Fawad Khan so I didn't know how they will look together.. but they had one of the best chemistry on the screen. This drama will make you laugh, cry, smile, and never wanting it to end. It just seemed like everyone was a big and happy family and everyone acted so nicely. Everyone had great chemistry together such as Kashaf and her sister, her mother... Then there was Zaroon and the chemistry between his parents and sister.. everyone just fit so well together. It didn't seem like they were acting, it seemed so real.. The dialogue, the story.. the music was just too good, it came in the right moment.. Great job to the writers, directors, actors, musicians.. So proud of Pakistan, you should make more shows like this! I recommend this to the international folks... you'll definitely like it.

Love story par excellence. . .
swaranjs18 January 2016
I have always wondered why we have, coming from Pakistan, such amazing dramas with stunningly effective expressions of human relationships through simple real-life situations. We saw this in some amazing TV serials in the 70's and 80's and now we have some more shown to us, thankfully, by an Indian channel. Zindagi Gulzar Hai, along with Humsafar, is one such.

I guess it is because the top writers and directors of Pakistan are not enamoured by the props (both visual and aural) which my countrymen tend to make over-liberal use of. There is much for Indian industry to learn from the where the heart of Pakistani drama lies.

If there is a better presentation of a love story based on the South Asian culture . . . I haven't seen it - I am 66 and have been watching them for over half a century.

The beautifully written dialogue, superbly rendered by the two protagonists are the stand out feature of this romantic drama. The background score is amazing in its subtle and subdued presentation. One tends to see this play and snippets from it again and again and the beauty of the background score starts glowing brightly once one has started hearing other things besides the luminous dialogue.

The acting of all the actors is flawless but Fawad and Sanam Saeed steel your heart.

This is one for the ages.

This show surpassed my expectations in every way.I noticed my mother watched it on Zindagi channel. In college one of my friends recommended it to me.I love shows like Breaking Bad,Friends,Six feet under etc. This is my first Pakistani show and what a show it is!.If you like drama with social issues stressed upon ,this is a show for you .If you like shows with good looking lead characters ,who have a superb chemistry between them, this show is made for you. All in all i fell in love with Kashaf Murtaza, and now I watch every episode and regret why i watched it.Maybe i could go back in time and watch it again!.Silly huh? .Maybe your thoughts about me change, once you give it a try.

Just Awesome...!!

I can't express the awesomeness of this show by words. Excellent display of reality, relationships, conditional experiences and our society. This play will not drag you to unwanted emotions but conveys something very strong in every scene. Depicts the reality of life in a wonderful way. Whether it's Kashaf OR Zarun OR Kashaf family OR Zarun family OR friends, everyone played a unique role in displaying reality of relationship and thoughts in present situations. The ending displays a substantial reasons for the title which is what is life? It is zulgar.... Found a wonderful play after very long time....if possible will give 11/10 for this show.

An extraordinary journey that left me speechless!
nostalgicjoy27 July 2017
To speak the truth, I didn't expect much from this TV series even after hearing all the positive reviews. After watching a lot of legendary masterpieces like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Sherlock, Dexter and so on, should I go for Zindagi Gulzar Hai??? I was so confused! Specially because I never enjoyed any Indian TV series before! So I thought this Pakistan made drama series could not be any better. I was so confused whether to give it a try or not! But somehow I managed and gave it a try... and then BOOOOM!

What an experience! What a journey! I finished the series and found myself speechless! The actors was outstanding, direction was phenomenal, music was just perfect! and the story? Believe me, no word is enough to praise it! In a word, ZGH was f***ing perfect in every way! Finally, a true masterpiece has come out from an Indian subcontinent. It was way beyond my expectations. Definitely recommended to watch.

Touching and a very Natural show😊
gtpatel12 January 2017
Extremely impressed by the serial and very nicely scripted and directed by the director. Fawad khan(Zarun) has done a commendable job and he is a fabulous actor. His father's role was well portrayed and great acting. It is pleasure him play in father's character which is very natural and his dialogue delivery was flawless. His mother too was looking lavish and good satisfying role exhibited by her. Kashaf's role was adorable and striking as well as her mother's too. Zarun's uncle as a role of principal was equally good and appreciable. The way her mother stands up and manages to bring up her daughters and show them the right guidance is quite inspiring for all in this day and age. Hats off to the entire team of Zindagi Gulzar Hai!

First Masterpiece from an Indian Subcontinent?
intehab78627 July 2017
I never thought I would ever enjoy a south Asian TV series! But this show made me fool! ZGH is such a masterpiece that you just can't deny it's excellency.

Story, Direction, Cinematography, Acting, Music... everything was at its best! Especially Sanam Saeed (as Kashaf Murtaza) was just out of the world! Fawad's performance was also too good. A drama just can't get any better than this. Nothing could be more perfect. ZGH is surely the best Romantic Drama I've ever seen. Though I never liked this genre, but ZGH was more than just romance, more that drama. It is the reflection of reality, reflection of our very own society.

Recommended for Everyone. Highly Recommended for the viewers of India, Bangladesh, Pakistan!

Addictive.. Occupies a special place in my heart..
richa-8315724 March 2016
I have seen few English series such as House, Sherlock and Suits. I loved them all. But this show beats them all in a way that i cant explain. It comes across as real, natural and the characters are such that you can easily relate to. The dialogues are simple and strike the right chord. The narration of their diaries is one of the best parts of the entire show where you can really know what they are feeling or thinking. This helps in understanding the characters so well. The maturity of handling situations is something you can learn from. The process of Kashaf becoming vulnerable from initially being cold hearted has been portrayed really well. The way in which her mother guides her daughter without really coming across as dominating or controlling makes me respect her a lot. Across the show, the characters are very tactful in their communication, something which i would want to adopt and may be which i have already adopted slightly. :)

its surprising how penning down something can bring so much clarity in your thoughts. i think why i like it more than the English sitcoms is that the lead characters in those English (Dr House, Sherlock, Harvey) are mostly arrogant and consider them self- important, charming (in a more showy way) and have a superiority complex. But this is not how the real world works. In real world, people like characters who are more in lines with ZGH... humble, very respectful of others, which i find it charming in its own way.

**** It's TRUE. Absolutely Awesome. ****
fayazc17 March 2016
*** Zindagi Gulzar Hai ***** It's TRUE. Absolutely TRUE.

After watching this series of 26 Episode my heart was melt down. This is so much true and inspiring story.

I am not able to express my feelings through words (especially in English :P :P) but I will try to my best to provide my feedback as below.

When I started watching first episode since then I got addicted to it and was keep watching all the series one after the another, even I started watching the series in my office. When I was watching there is especial feeling and smile on my face by looking at me others were questioning me about what's happening.

This is not at all Saas Bahu type of series which sees at home regularly even in my house. The dialogues from Kashaf and Zaroon was awesome especially when they started writing their daily dairies and also when they were alone. The background song "Zindagi Jis k Muqaddar main ho Khusyian Teri" is lovely and its meaning was so true. As I know Urdu so I understood most of it.

Ohh!!! What Can I say about Zaroon (Fawad Afzal Khan) and Kashaf (Sanam Saeed). These two ROCKs the show, I really appreciate the effort and their emotions they had put in making this series.

If every mother was like Rafiya (Samina Peerzada) then every child will be grown with beautiful manners and they would love to respect women's. Kashaf (Sanam Saeed) Sisters, Sidra (Mansha Pasha) and Shehnila (Sana Sarfaraz ) was there to support her, they too played their roles very well.

Now coming to Zaroon(Fawad Afzal Khan) family, Father (Javed Shaikh as Junaid) - Best dialogue from Junaid is when he said to Zaroon that "he is so lucky to have Kashaf as his wife from all other propsal" when Zaroon was upset about not informing Osama's propsal. Mother (Hina Khawaja Bayat as Ghazala Junaid) - She is best when she realizes about her and started caring for their family. Sister (Ayesha Omer as Sara Junaid) - She played very important role. Hats off Ayesha, you have taught all the girls who were irresponsible for what they are. Absolutely awesome message you have given that "We need to do adjustment and sacrifice few things after marriage". Love You.

May be you thinking that what a boring review is this. But believe me I am really inspired by hard work shown from Kashaf for her studies and the success she got from it. (This will happen for sure if do with pure honesty).

Those families who thinks that only boys can do and they want a boy from wives should watch this series, if they didn't changed their minds then I will change my name.

Now finally I would like to say about Last Episode, wow what a way to express love with zarron, that dialogue wins lots of Indian hearts. And Ending Dialogues too.

Songs Zindagi Khaak Na Thi" by Hadiqa Kiani and Title song "Zindagi Gulzar Hai" by Ali Zafar was awesome / Heart Wins, Now I am big of you both. Love You Both.

*** With These TV Series which made the relations between both the countries strong, and I am sure that this series wons the millions of Indian. I thanked to Hum TV and Zindagi TV for telecasting it.***

Love You and Allah Hafiz.

Worth it. Fireworks went off when they first held hands!
Fester123458 August 2017
I'll preface this by saying my wife watches all the TV in our household. I'm in the background…listening and commenting from afar. This show made me emerge from the background to the foreground! If you haven't watched it, please do…and stick around till at least the 10th episode before you make up your mind. I kept thinking about Kashaf Murtaza for days after the show ended. My wife was probably thinking the same about Zarun. What I found remarkable is how intensely attracted I was to this humble, simple girl who most wouldn't call glamorous. She somehow embodied an image of a perfect companion - a soulmate so to speak.

The show was a little exaggerated at times, and also dragged on at times. The customary diary updates in every episode (my wife and I referred to them as 'lessons learned sessions') used such advanced Urdu I felt like I was writing an exam. But all this also added to the charm. There were no stark contrasts (good vs bad) and every character had a viewpoint that was valid.

A must see overall especially if you understand eastern society and are able to comprehend the language. If you have already watched it and are here looking for validation – 'Congratulations, I feel the same way' is what I'll say.

Truly one of the best drama series for all generations!
epcot26-126 September 2016
This drama series was one of my favorite! All the episodes were poignant, meaningful, and powerful. The actors/actresses were all engaged with their characters, therefore it looked real and natural. Sameena Peerzada is amazing! I absolutely loved all the simple and meaningful conversations between mother and daughters, son and his parents, brother and sister, sister to sister, wife and husband, and all the ones in between.

The drama gave so many life lessons that everyone who watched it should implement in their own lives. The writing, direction, production, and acting were all excellent!

Thank you Umera Ahmad for writing such a beautiful and well-produced drama series!

Regressive. Promotes patriarchy.
sheenathukral0713 March 2022
Though the storyline/ script is not that bad, and the actors have also done a good job, but this drama series is dissapointingly promoting backward thinkng and anti -feminism. Some parts are so shockingly regressive and male lead actor continuosly put down women in his life whether it's his mother, sister, girlfriend or wife.

I can't believe that hero actually spoke the words -"mujhe aurat ka modern hona bilkul pasand nahi".

very misogynistic show
sanabaji19 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
If you like Pakistani dramas, you will love it. The acting was great, dialogues were good... To read why it was so great you can see all the positive reviews. I will focus on why I am not crazy about it. The show romanticizes an arrogant, ego-eccentric, misogynist character till the very end. I am sure people would've hated this show had the roles been reversed. If the girl had multiple boyfriends back in the day it would never have been ok. It wasn't even ok for her to have a marriage proposal by another guy before him. He makes a big deal about it but that fight ends with such unrealistic resolve, similar to the one they have about him talking and meeting his ex. The real fight was the one where he almost hits her in the library... and they never talk about that... the fact that he lunged to hit her but his friend held him back. They romanticize it, oh he is just a hot headed guy like that's a small flaw. I also hated the fact that everyone pushed her to marry him. She needed to give everyone a "solid reason" for not marrying him. That shouldn't even be a demand! There are many average to great people on this earth we can choose not to marry them and it should be fine, its a personal preference. However she needed a solid reason not to marry him and every reason she gave had an excuse which basically was that he is a man and its ok for him to be this way.

A true masterpiece in every sense
tasneemh2121 July 2015
This series is one of those rare gems that you won't regret watching over and over again. This is coming from someone who loves watching complex and intelligent shows like lost, Sherlock, homeland etc. with mind-bending twists. Yet, it manages to entertain viewers like me and also instill many educative and social values which seem to be eroding these days with the passage of time. It is such a breath of fresh air from all the gloom, violence that we see unfolding everyday on our television screens. It is something that will always hold a special place in my heart and I won't mind revisiting it again and again. A special love story with so many lessons of life weaved into it. Top notch acting and direction. A true 10 out of 10 from me.............

Evergreen Classical Love-Family Drama in Pakistan TV History
disizzgsk2 April 2018
In movies i felt so many classics, evergreen, master piece picture. First time i loved the serial drama love and family emotions can't explain in 10 lines write a review in small summary or plot. Because i love the show more than other dramas even in india also. I'm basically love love drama story telling in a very neatful beautiful way. Here i felt i lot loved lot attracted so many characters. I can give more than 10 rating if possible in imdb. Come to the casting wow....what a cute couple Fawad and Sanam lived in Zarron and Kashaf charaters....no one replace their place in those character. I love their attachment in every scene from beginning to end of serial. I don;t know how they are playing in this drama in very simple lift style people. We should admire their performances. Especially Kashaf is key point of entire drama and story is moving with her. Sanam i saw her first time in this drama she is absolutely a fantastic actress and her mother character wow really mind blowing. A working woman as teacher as mother played in such role very well, i appreciate her very much.

Sanam Saeed i really became fan of her acting, voice tone, performance, her nature in this drama and as well in real life. I love to see every scene of Fawad and Sanam in this drama get so excited inside automatically. After Marriage Kashaf and Zaroon their every scene attracted to them, such a wonderful characters no vulgarity in this drama very clean fresh story. Never see in pakistan tv series before. If this tv show released in india or made in india definitely it would remake in many languages in all over india and became popular. In pakistan Urdu is only language but in india they can go for remake in every language. So such a crazy story made in pakistan tv show. Director and Writers are a backbone to this drama undoubtedly, in this drama i love their every dialouges had written so beautiful. A common people story and Rich family its so familiar in real life also...so this drama became popular one of the best reason it connected to every common person.

Im So thankful to Entire Zindagi Gulzar hai team, i got so much love on urdu language and drama story because of ZGH. They finished season in 26 episodes thats so hurted me because i wanted to see above 50 or 100 episodes. In india people are habituated to see more than 100 200 500 episodes. But felt so happy mostly inside much. Thanks to Sanam and Fawad roles played as Kashaf and Zaroon as couples love, family emotions gave me such beautiful experience ever got. 10/10 rating is i think not a right to treat, 100/10 is perfect rating. A very good message to society and Inspiration to every woman in this society and great message has given how a independent woman to grow up in hard situation and face every challenge.

Yes.....Zindagi Gulzar Hai

Zindagi Gulzar Hai is Worth Watching
Geeta3522 September 2017
This drama teaches the viewer so many lessons about love, ambition, family ties, forgiveness, trust, commitment and loyalty. It will definitely keep you riveted to the screen and make you think about life, societal expectations and norms. The lead actors make this "vehicle" run smoothly; however, there were times when Kashaf was a little hard to bear. Hats off to Fawad and Sanaam for making this production so true to life. Watch it, reflect and learn. Ten stars is not enough, but it is the limit, so I give it.

Absolutely Brilliant. Must Watch!
anshugaind15 March 2021
Just got done watching the final episode and I will really miss the show. The struggles of a single mom to successfully raise her 3 daughters. How being abandoned by her father affects the eldest daughter's relationship with her husband. 2 different perspectives on feminism & gender equality in a conservative society, one from the upper class and the other from the lower middle class. All of that with very little melodrama and minimal flamboyance is really refreshing.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai - a memorable masterpiece
kabirswaraich28 March 2019
ZGH is a masterpiece in the sense that it is very difficult to believe all of it is made up and the people in it are just actors. It will certainly be very difficult for me to see every actor/actress in this series as someone else in their future works (except Fawad Khan). Perhaps this is the case because I had personally never seen any of their works before since I am from India. Now coming to the most important part, the story and the acting. Possibly one of the better story lines I have come across, with exceptional performances by Sanam Saeed (as Kashaf) and Javed Sheikh (as Junaid). Personally I am now impossibly infatuated with Sanam's portrayal of Kashaf. She is everything one can ever desire from a woman; independent, headstrong, beautiful and principled. The ending left me longing for more though. A well deserved 9/10.

Watched it only for Fawad Khan! But there's more..
Alright, this show was in my watch list after being super impressed with Humsafar. The episodes in the beginning were pretty breezy. It starts to get a bit predictable in the middle episodes. Of course, as expected it ends on a good note. Performances by the lead actors is very fine. Fawad single-handedly shoulders this show with his witty and sarcastic character talking to himself for the most part. The female lead Sanam Saeed is an import from UK does a phenomenal job in acting as an independent woman with extremely strong individuality and chauvinist behavior right throughout the show. The lead is at logger heads in every frame and two poles apart. The marriage between these two characters makes the show special. Although this couple is not as magnetic and perfect like that of Fawad and Mahira in Humsafar, this is still very watchable as the show brings out the strengths and mostly weaknesses in today's couples. The couple is almost incompatible but yet they seek each other. 10/10 for the real life problems they depict through this show.

Misogynistic show
kaurmanikiran16 December 2019
One of the most misogynistic things I have seen on television. It is terrible that such a show that reinforces chauvinism is being made in recent times but what is more saddening is that people have loved it so much, which clearly indicates that most people even today are misogynistic. The only reason I watched the entire series was I thought there would be some sort of character development but it broke my heart that the show romanticised a male chauvinistic, anti- feminist man till the end. People who have liked this show and rated it so well need to seriously introspect.

Anti depressant series for me... Love upto infinity
azharsiddq14 October 2019
I cant explain how muvh i love this serial. The story, the plot, family background, characters, relations everything is mesmerizing. I saw this series first time on Zindagi TV in 2014, i fell in love with this serial. Now it is available on Netflix, so every now and than i start watching it. from 2018 to till my writing i have watched it 4 times and still counting. The strength of kashaf's character has always been a inspiration for me. The way she talks to herself in her loneliness makes me vulnerable and empathetic. Teaching of Kashaf's mother Rafia has always been came as blessings and way of enlightenment from Angel. Sidra's care, concern and teasings makes her innocent, who left her fragments with every single appearance. Zaroon being Confused and immature yet thrive to understanding the means of balance between male ego and women empowerment, provides me with mirror to see through. Sir Abrar happy face makes feel that someone is out there who will have problens of all our solutions. Every single characters whose names have left comprise to make this series immortal and gives me feeling that yes, Zzindagi Gulzar Hai... Love you team ZGH Azhar, India, C. G. Raipur.
