Not a great romance film but was able to watch until the end
gggmathieu21 March 2024
I thought the Girl Lost series was interesting and it's good to see Robin doing something a little different. Unfortunately the film was sort of a let down. I didn't feel magic in this film. Hopefully if Robin makes another LGBTQ film it would be more engaging. The film score was not very good, and the overall film was shot pretty generically. The actresses weren't great but I like the effort they put in, they did try. But the main problem for me with this film is that it felt sort of boring. For much of the film I didn't care what was happening, the film needed a slower pacing and more sizzle and personality, for a romance film it's missing that romantic feel to it. The emotional moments didn't hit me as hard as she was attempting to do. I do enjoy her films and I hope she does more but I would like to see better screenplays and more personality in her directing style, it's hard to describe Robin as a director.

It Had Potential
dasrico12 December 2023
I see the reviews, but honestly I don't get it.

First I expected a little build up before Rain moved into Blakes house, but literally first couple minutes Rain gets evicted and moves in. No explanation as to where and how Rain found the house. The description tells you more than the entire movie does.

2nd the acting isn't that best. I read about how great the writing was but it really wasn't.

3rd The kissing between the two females goes with the bad acting. They were like 2 very straight girls that do not want to kiss. Any chemistry you think they had disappeared once they started kissing. Good kissing scenes can save bad acting because you believe they are really into each other. The kissing as so bad it almost made me turn it off. It ruined alot for me.

Both woman are incredibly beautiful and theres potential for them to do great things, but the acting and believability was missing for me.

Bad acting, no chemistry and lack of direction
namob-436735 April 2024
This movie does not know what it wants to be. On one hand this is sort of romantic drama, but sometimes it wants to be a erotic thriller, or perhaps a character study, or perhaps a LGBTQ friendly movie just because. This movie should have picked one, preferably the erotic thriller path and it would have been so much better.

Another thing that bothers are the actresses. Neither one is bad, but neither one is very good either. And when they have zero chemistry it all just falls flat. The awkward kissing and "oh no, I touched a boob" look is about as sexy as watching paint dry.

The dialogue is subpar and the directing meh. I could go on and pick apart more of the movie, but if all you want to see is two beautiful girls pretending to be into each other I guess this is alright.

I fund this very boring, mainly because the movie never finds its path and sticks to it. 3/10 and impossible to recommend. There are far better acted and scripted porn to watch if you want.

Beautiful

Girls on Film is a beautifully written story of two lost young women, Rain and Blake. They find each other through not so unusual means and connect through a commonality of deep loss in their lives. We watch the women go through a myriad of ups and downs in their relationship. It's intense but relatable. Most of us have had broken relationships with broken people and that's exactly what this is. The acting was absolutely on point from both of the leads. The director really brought this story to life and I felt like a fly on the wall watching the love between Rain and Blake blossom and then... (no spoilers). The backdrop of Palm Springs was also really great and one that we don't get to see much, at least I haven't. It was stunning. Truly, such a good movie.

Real bad sorry
hivalors10 April 2024
The plot and script was invisible made for horny 15 year old males sadly, What was that black sleeve on her arm? Also she had dandruff in her hair in one scene! Not a Thin Red line film that's for sure lol.

Its sad to see Hollywood use these woman in this way! Sexual objects etc just to win over the audiences. When will they spend their billions on real true life stories? The title of the film says it all no thought put into it rushed out the door and onto the population I skipped through the movies just for the sexy bits and found low soft porn with the main actress hiding her breasts in all the scenes. Sorry a very bad film but I,m sure someone will make some money out of it lol.

Why?!
mitchowdhury-mail4 May 2024
The only review I had to write is "why"? Why make this film? But this review wouldn't get published without a meaningless 500+ words post. So will have to write a bit more. It is a meaningless movie, if you can call it a movie firstly. The one thing that is blatantly missing from this movie is the plot and acting. It features actors who do not know how to act and a script writer who does not know how to write, a director who does not know direction. Why? And why does this pit of meaninglessness have a 5+ IMDb rating? Surely it's because of the "adult" content. How meaningless can it be? Don't watch it to know the answer. I have saved you some 90 minutes of your life.

Make it ... Rain
kosmasp25 April 2024
No pun intended - see the main character calls herself Rain, so ... well you understand I think without me having to tell you what I mean. As with another movie I saw recently, I was wondering where this was going - Cam girls, the profession and the person behind (the camera) are an interesting subject - they reveal quite a bit of themselves, but maybe not the really important things.

No puns intended here either - and if you worry one way or another: there is nudity - with a few scenes that could be described erotic. But this is more about human depths - emotional scars and connections ... and the lack thereof. Being connected - yet disconnected.

Being together yet far apart (metaphorically speaking and all that). I think you can tell where this is going early on - still interesting to watch it unfold. The actresses do their best - still not sure the script helps them that much (at least as I see it unfold in the movie, no offense) ... you decide if you have and can spare the time to ... watch!

Rain
amirkhaw12 February 2024
Rain (aka. Girls on Film) is first and foremost a bit of softcore titillation, much like you'll find on late-night TV. It's not too explicit, has a basic story and allows the two protagonists to undress and have intimate relations. It also throws in a bit of mild drama for the sake of tension.

The pros here are that the girls are attractive, it's nicely filmed and there are a few dark(ish) themes. On the flip side, the acting is very bad, the dialogue isn't great and it's not really explicit enough.

Saying that however, the story and the acting probably aren't the reasons why you're here in any case. If you're a fan of either of the actresses or just want to have a little harmless fun (which is absolutely couples-friendly), then there are worse ways to spend your time.

An art film set in a dark reality
JH_pitty_nation13 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
An art film set in a dark reality so poignant that there were times I had to look away. To clarify, There was one scene in particular that was extremely painful to watch because I could see the true agony in the actresses eyes. ***SPOILER ALERT*** The scene I'm referring to is one in which the actress who plays Rain is taken advantage of by a man in a hotel in such a cruel, heartless way that my heart hurt for her. Tremendous work from all involved. I've seen director Robin Bain's previous Girl Lost films which brought me to this one and it did not disappoint. Dark, raw, intense and completely devastating.

One of the best LGBTQ+/lesbian romance stories
gigifoo12 November 2023
Calling this movie sexy is actually counterintuitive. It is sexy, but it is so much more and probably one of the best LGBTQ+/lesbian romance stories I've ever seen. We don't often get treated to a love story that builds from the ground up like this. I felt the tension and love between the characters and was captivated by what might happen next between them. From the moment they locked eyes when they first meet next to Blake's fabulous pool until the last moments of the film. It is a very honest look into a queer love story between two women. I'm going to spread the word in the queer community. It's a much watch.

Character Study
jeaniefox19625 December 2023
Girls on Film is a character study of two women who enter into a tumultuous lesbian relationship. Both Dare Taylor as "Rain" and Willow Grey as "Blake" are fantastic in their roles and they deliver some powerful moments throughout. "Rain" is the beautiful girl next door type who dives head first into her first same sex relationship and "Blake" is the striking, brooding, manipulative, rich girl who seduces Rain into her dark world. Rain and Blake are so different but share so many subtle commonalities as they navigate their love for each other amidst this dysfunction. The writing and dialogue is on point. Written and directed by Robin Bain of the Girl Lost movies fame (which I'm a super fan of), Girls on Film is a really interesting follow-up to the Girl Lost movies with an intriguing, nuanced and unique LGBT storyline and some great performances and moments.
