One great movie!
underneathmyskin-9566124 January 2024
"Rewind" unfolds as a poignant narrative for couples yearning to rewrite their past, delivering a heartfelt exploration of the universal desire for second chances. The film skillfully captures the complexities of relationships, prompting viewers to reflect on their own lives and appreciate the significance of each moment spent with loved ones. Through the journey of the husband and wife protagonists, "Rewind" serves as a gentle reminder to cherish the present and prioritize the people who matter most. The storyline also delicately underscores the importance of individuality within the context of marriage, particularly urging wives not to lose sight of their own identity in the pursuit of shared goals. With its emotional depth and relatable themes, "Rewind" is a compelling cinematic experience that resonates long after the credits roll.

"Change happens. Tragedy happens."
arvinjanasis7 January 2024
Rewind Honest review... If you have another chance to go back to the past and alter the current events of your life to save the one you love, would you do it?

Stories with "time travel" has been one of the common case scenario in today's movies and tv series but how the story tellers pull of that kind of storyline is the question of the day. In this Filipino film entry, the time travel plot is similar to other movies and it was said that the film's plot was somehow similar to the 2004 film "If Only." I could say the same thing about the execution of this film. It is something that we have seen before only with a bit difference.

But as some viewers watch for the plot itself, the lessons learned from this movie is what makes this movie standout. The movie's real story begins when the deal between John and "Lods" took place. This time, there's a chance to alter the reality where John is currently living. Things happen because they have to happen. "Change happens. Tragedy happens. People make choices, and those choices affect everyone else" And those events in our lives ought to change us for the better. To make us a better version of ourselves. Events are truly meant to be a "fixed point in time." But this film reminds us that despite the fact where time can be reversed is truly impossible, our God is God of second chances. -but never make a deal or a promise that you couldn't keep.

It's a family film but if you have already lost someone, you'll feel the emotion more in this film as well.

Cons: -too much ads and some of them are too pushy -funny scenes are added during some emotional scenes (teka kala ko shark) -plot is typical / usual Pros: -the lessons learned -the performance of the lead cast -a movie that reminds us to trust God even during our lowest Rewind film is 7.5/10 for me.

Too many misses, too few hits.

Grabe daming bashers.

Warning: Spoilers
Please note that I'm not a DongYan fan. And I think that Marian Rivera acted somehow kind of support in this movie, if it wasn't for the opening narration and the end sequence. And it was more of Dingdong Dantes , who actually made me feel the movie better.

Don't get me wrong, Marian made me cry as well.

But, it's just that the movie really is about the man who has everything but fails to appreciate it. That was until, he lost his loving wife in an accident. Both the car accident and the video which triggered her getting mad at him.

Now, we know why Lods told Austin that tomorrow his dad will be proud of him. It's because it's the day of second chances.

The character of Lods was wonderfully set. As it can mean that God is within and every of us. Cue song: One of Us.

I'm turning into a crybaby, especially when it comes to films. But, glad to know that I'm not the only one who got eyes filled with tears.

Good acting but not original
luismartincolado3 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I am very amazed by the acting it almost mde me cry, but aside that the other aspects lacks the story is not original it's like a copy of other stories, the cinematography is very bad I noticed that the lighting is not set to the mood, pretty overated I might say, the pacing I will say very confusing.

Looking at the goodside though The acting is very good + the song is just the "try not to cry combo". It hat a lot of good jokes,i liked the way they put a bit of comedy in a dramatic movie.

In conclusion this movie did not perform well in many aspects but it has a nice delivery of the story even if it's not original, the cinematography really ruins the mood of the scene sometimes.now I know the reason that this movie didn't get any awards from MMFF. But i can say it's good, and relatable I will recommend it.

The film which made me believe in the greatness of Filipino drama again
ryeapril28198930 December 2023
I've never been in movie houses since long time ago, more so for a Filipino movie. There's 3 movies that captures my attention to this year's MMFF namely Firefly, GomBurZa & Rewind. I got some resource to spend on for just 1 movie and so I decided to watch Rewind for a simple reason.. I have a soft spot for works of art relating to the gift of life & family for years now, and Rewind happens to have that based on its synopsis. Thankfully, it didnt disappoint.

This movie is a realization of faith, whether its faith to God and His plans, your loved one, or to your craft.. its a realization for all walks of life. And when it kicks in, it hits to the core.. and there's no holding back those tears.

Hands down to Dingdong, Marian & Pepe for portraying John, Mary & Jess/Lods respectively. The nominations are all well-deserved. And I wont have a single doubt if they actually won acting awards in the future for this. Nakakainis kayo! Halos kasisimula pa lang, parang sinisipon na ako. Buti na lang hindi ako nag-iisa, isang tulo, tingin o hikbi lang, nakakadala na..

Good word of mouth for the film definitely deserves it. It's a Filipino film that made my faith to Philippine drama close to what I hope it to be.

P. S. That subtle "Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay" instrumental bg music is well placed. It didnt felt too repetitive at all.. even though it was the only song I heard of being played all throughout the film. And when the vocals finally volumes up, wow! So satisfying! I liked it before and love it now.

not the kind to review movies but this was GOOD
cheshireneko-8134510 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Watched it because other people recommended it to me, and my expectations were quite low considering most of the filipino movies i've watched have repeated and cliche storylines, with the same old morals of the story. However, rewind was different in the way that while you can decide to change things overnight, no offer is that good in the sense that it can undo the damage worth weeks, months, or in this case, years. The portrayal of that fact is super realistic which made the movie so much more relatable. I would recommend this to everyone i know because in such a fast-paced world, we are bound to forget what is really important, or lose sight of the reason we do things. It's so nice that this movie had two arcs to accommodate for that, and it was a non-stop tear fest. Thank you philippine cinema.

Sino kaya writer nito. Proud kya sya?
nathandevice12 February 2024
Nrinig ko kc ung song ng ben&ben.. kya naiiyamot ako at npfeedback dito.. As a viewer, I was eagerly anticipating a fresh and innovative cinematic experience. However, what I encountered was a blatant imitation of "IF ONLY" from its storyline to character development and even specific scenes. It felt like a carbon copy rather than a unique creation. Lalo n sa element o material o props.. simula p lng ung PROMOTION sa trabaho issue, may nbasag, travel at related sa music scenario... juskolord.

The lack of originality not only diminished my enjoyment of the film but also left me questioning the creativity and integrity of the filmmaking process. As an audience member, I value authenticity and creativity, both of which were sorely lacking in this production.

Moving forward, I urge the movie production team to prioritize originality and creative storytelling, rather than resorting to imitation and replication. Viewers deserve fresh and compelling narratives that inspire and engage, not recycled versions of existing works.

Warning: Spoilers
Very talented and eye tearing I would like to recommend it to my whole family and friends. Marian and Ding Dong never disappoint me you guys should watch it. Although their featuring son acting is not well good but he can improve more in the near future overall the best movie. The falling in action is well delivered I'm hoping to see more drama with the two lovers although the villain did well also haha girl you hit our nerves hahaha. The ending will be much deliver if she somehow die in possible disease or make the picture frame fall off and break to make it more dramatic hahahaha I'm just saying anyway just watch it!

Bad decision
geewhiz4627 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
We are shown a married man with a son - he works too hard which makes him impatient and short tempered at work and withdrawn and moody with his family. There is no communication between himself and his wife - but he seems to love his son who is a budding piano player.

He comes across his son talking to a picture of Jesus whom he calls Lod. One day at a work celebration he finds out that he has been passed over for promotion so he resigns. Later he is taking his wife to see his son's recital when they start to argue and his wife tells him that she has been meaning to tell him something for some time - she handily takes off her seatbelt and demands to get out - then - in the middle of nowhere some person appears in the middle of the road causeing them to swerve and end up hitting a tree. His wife goes through the windscreen and is killed.

He is full of grief and remorse - when suddenly here comes Lod - in the shape of a handyman and tells him he can get her back - but somebody must die in her place.

He offers himself and suddenly she is alive again and they have a loving reunion - but hang on - do you remember she had something to tell him? Yep - she intends to leave him and take their son to Singapore where she can realise her own dreams. What a wonderful mother - she knows he is making a valiant effort to change that he and his son adore each other - but what the heck - her ego is more important. They go to see their son's play - but 3pm is approaching - the time she died originally - and hubby aint feeling too grand.

He begs Lod to let him off the deal. - Lod says everything will be OK - hmmm - what version of OK do you mean Lod?

Not for Hubby - he's having a lie down in the foyer.

If only he could go back !!!

Rewind is The Best
jaylingcasan6 January 2024
I really watched this movie and it really made me cry. The One and Only Primetime Queen acted very well. It's a shame it was underrated but it was a hit at the box office. I didn't think it would make me cry. It's like you lost your breath when you watched it. It's one of the best movies I've ever seen. The best actor is also their acting. It's really big. Congratulations To Everyone Who Made This Movie, So We Should Appreciate Our Loved Ones Before They Lose Because in The Reality Of Life there's No Rewind, No Second Chance Thank You For Showing Us The Reality, For Showing That Our Life Is Only One We Should Appreciate It Thank You Solid Dongyan.

Must-Watch
sherken-976405 January 2024
This movie is the first movie that actually made me cry. There was just some scenes that I can relate and affected me so maybe it was an exception, but some scenes (especially the scenes near the end) definitely was so sad. Although the storyline and the concept of the film was common, there was personal twists added. The acting and chemistry of the real-life couple Marian Rivera & Dingdong Dantes really carried out the film, as well as the extraordinary quality of the film. If you are planning to watch movies from the MMFF 2023, this one should be your first choice. I promise you... this is so worth it!

Typical Drama Story
parktam16 January 2024
I've lots of great Filipino movies already. This is just a typical drama story. You can already predict the story and ending. Nothing really much to expect. Now I know why this movie didn't get an award. The plot, production, and cinematography aren't good. This is just an overrated film and shouldn't be part of the Filipino film festival. Other Filipino great movies deserve the spot in the film festival. Acting isn't great as well. Just my opinion. I'd like to see new drama stories that can change how we see things. And, there are a lot of new Filipino movies that are more interesting to watch.

Overhyped
hanietubid9 April 2024
Mid-acting. Over rated storyline. PREDICTABLE. Fans of DongYan probably will appreciate. Including those "blind sheep" who don't know what original story means.

Why will you pay to watch a movie just to cry your eye out? Is in it the purpose of watching a movie is to be entertained? And people expect them to win the best actress and best actor award? Delusional.

Not a fan of DongYan. Not a hater too. Just love movies. And giving a high rating to an unoriginal movie is really not my thing. We deserve better.

Halfway watching it, I already know what will happen. Hate predictable movies. And this is the num 1 blockbuster in the Philippines. Well done.
