As you might expect as the second season opens, there is a revisit to events to the previous season and a number of new threads emerging. So the Ukrainian mobster, Rabbit (Ben Cross), was shot and supposedly killed by his trained killer daughter, Carrie Hopewell (Ivana Milicevic, with her luscious pouty lips), but Cancer-stricken FBI Agent, Racine (the superb character actor Zeljko Ivanek, carving out yet another cool creation in his chain-smoking agent with little patience for anyone standing in his way of finding and ridding the world of Cross' Mr. Rabbit) doesn't believe he's dead. An investigation into the shootout between Rabbit's gangsters and the Banshee, Pennsylvania, police dept is tied up by Racine (who dismissively recuses agent over the case, Dean (Derek Cecil), of local criminal kingpin, Kai Proctor (Ulrich Thomsen)) in a closed session by applying probations to the deputies and possibly allowing the district attorney (her husband!) to prosecute Carrie for her involvement in the executions of several of the gangsters in a professional manner without little hesitation, while Sheriff Lucas Hood (Antony Starr), who had taken off the badge and title before the violence erupted is excused of any wrongdoing as he is viewed as a victim mistreated by Rabbit as a civilian. Once a criminal, always a criminal, Hood initiates an armored car robbery along with former associates Carrie, Sugar Bates (Frankie Faison), and Job (Hoon Lee), but their success is nearly undermined by a motorcyclist with a machine gun (Odette Annable) wearing a dark helmet deeming her unrecognizable. His pals keep telling Hood he needs to get out of Banshee while he still can as his shaky holding onto the badge and fake identity seems to be on the verge of disintegrating. Carrie wants to return home to her husband, Gordon (Rus Blackwell), but his duties as a district attorney, and her actions in the murders of multiple people, threaten his position (and endangers their children). In other subplots, the Hopewell's daughter, Deva (Ryann Shane) lifts earrings in a store, is caught by a security guard, and threatens pedophilia if he informs the police (so she gets off while taking the very items she was to be arrested for!), and Mennonite Rebecca (Lili Simmons) chooses to be a girl of Proctor's instead of returning to her people. Also the fate of a tribal chair (currently held by Alex Longshadow (Anthony Ruivivar)) is in trouble as pressure from their people is weighing on him. His sister, Nola (the aforementioned Odette), will seduce Lucas, but what are her motives? How do all the ongoing threads tie together? That is what a set up is all about and this episode is loaded with them. With Proctor still safe, a dead mayor's funeral (after being "blown up" in the previous season), Rabbit emerging alive despite two bullets and a nasty facial flesh wound, the law in Banshee under scrutiny, and a FBI agent in the midst (yet another thread has him requesting Carrie help him find Rabbit if she wants to avoid criminal charges and accusing a priest (Julian Sands) of knowing where Rabbit is), there's plenty of developments for the second season of "Banshee" to unfold. Cross' presence (look at him as a ghost spooking the psyche) haunts Lucas who can't shake his face and torture of him prior to Carrie's interference. Carrie and Lucas' past and tie to each other just won't conclude as it is an obvious major storyline thread that motivates everything behind events that surround/involve them.
