Actress Alexandra Essoe really put the bugs in her mouth that were vomited by her character in the bathtub scene. She volunteered to do the method performance rather than using CG or special shots.
Sarah's second audition in which she strips naked in front of the spotlight was inspired by a story someone told both Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kölsch about doing an audition for David Lynch.

Directors Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer were initially going to go with a traditional orchestral score until composer Jonathan Snipes convinced them to let him do a synthesizer score instead and considered his ideas for a synth score they knew it was the only option. "If you just listen to the soundtrack on its own you can hear the journey that Sarah goes through."
An audience member passed out during the climax of the film at the New York premiere. The projectionist had to stop the film and turn on the lights as the audience member was escorted out. The movie was then rewound two minutes and started up again.
