The Words For The Movie Were Catching The Fashion Point
nih-8808718 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I thought it was the best movie in Chinese New Year movies.

The movie contains a story from the period of 1980 and told a man who began having a beautiful marriage, breaking up for the low pay, going into the mother company incidentally....

It came the most important character fluently, and it was also wonderful. Every person had good acting skills and cutting skills.

The words for the movie were catching the fashion point in companies' year meeting, what exactly happened in our daily life, especially in big cities.

Dapeng acted the man who was sad with life and happied with the upgrade incidentally, act skills were really natural.

I liked this movie and smiled loudly.

A Five-Star Comedy Extravaganza
RealCharlesTsui20 January 2024
I saw it in London today and I must say it's the best Chinese comedy I've seen in the past five years-a true event cinema. The movie is filled with laughter from start to finish, presenting the absurdities of toxic workplace culture in China within a refreshing narrative.

What sets it apart is the absence of any cheesy sentimentality or preachy messages, What makes it stand out is that it avoids any cheesy sentimentality or preachy messages. Unlike many Chinese comedies these days that rely on jokes or humour that can be discriminatory towards gender, specific regions, or races, this film steers clear of all that.

The film cleverly weaves a storyline without resorting to clichés and successfully brings out the absurdities of real life through a light-hearted lens. It also mentioned the sexual harassment in Chinese workplace, a commendable move, especially within the context of Chinese cinema. While there could have been a deeper exploration of workplace issues in China, considering censorship constraints, the film does an admirable job.

But I feel it's important for you to know that many jokes are deeply rooted in Chinese cultural references. If you haven't lived in China for an extended period or haven't experienced Chinese social media extensively, you might miss out on several punchlines.

Fuuny at first taste , but In the end , it's still poison apple covered in caramel.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie indeed catch the crazyness of modern day big corp. Culture.

..... Just like the song song they sung at the show. Higher up snap a finger , and the management try to guess what the big guys meaning while not daring to ask ,Just level after level , rank after rank , push it all the way down to the bottom.

Everybody who has a pair of eyes can see how Johnny/Jianlin Hu is not even close to be qualify to be promoted. But they all just close they eyes for it thinking it's just part of the "bigger plan" played by the CEO. (Or even rumored that he is CEO's son or anything......even though he clearly not that much younger than "the man")

But , in as what I said in the tittle , in the end ,it's still poison apple covered in caramel. Nothing really changed.

Magic got the long deserved promotion.......but so just , he is still just another "little nut" in this crazy system.

Hu saved the factory (and all his follower workers) , but it still got automation remodeled. And with all those computerized CNC machines , he and his friends' craftsmanship skill are still in danger.

Penny is left the company.......which she probably would regret later.

(In the end , it still the case of "pick the right side" and "the boss's word is the law".....the system are there , strong and solid.)

The story ended at a happy ending tone. But for all of us the IRL Maigc/Hu/Penny , who step out the theater , the story is still far far away from the end.......
