- In this parody of an Australian true crime miniseries, woefully incompetent Detectives Spoink and Hoggman retread their stumbling footsteps through their recent investigation into a classic murder scenario: a mother of two is stabbed to death in her own bed. All signs point to the cheating, bloodstained husband who just avoided a crippling divorce, but we mustn't discount the mistress, the pool boy, the angst-ridden son or the cherubic 4-year-old daughter. With no shortage of twists and a primary suspect that changes every episode, it becomes a question of how many times they can get it wrong... before they accidentally get it right.—Joe Bauer
- In this parody of an Australian true crime miniseries, woefully incompetent Detectives Edith Spoink and Maffhew Hoggman, in transparently self-serving fashion, take us through their dysfunctional investigation into a classic murder scenario: Debra Ashell, social media darling and mother of two, is stabbed to death in her own bed. All signs point to the cheating, bloodstained husband who just avoided a crippling divorce, but the detectives somehow find ways to misinterpret those signs as pointing towards the husband's mistress, the pool boy, the maladjusted son and the cherubic 4-year-old daughter. Whereas Hoggman employs a passive, let-the-criminals-come-to-us approach to his craft, Spoink prefers the overactive method of turning every development into a premeditated conspiracy. Nevertheless, their differing styles compliment each other into a perfect concoction of ineptitude. After they commit a particularly bad screw-up that becomes an unflattering online viral sensation, hard-boiled Crown Prosecutor Diana Lynch throws down an ultimatum: the detectives have exactly 48 hours to deliver the correct killer, along with subtantial proof, or they lose their jobs. Now genuinely motivated, Spoink and Hoggman begin interrogating, tailing, staking out and violating every person related to Debra Ashell that they set their bodycams on. With no shortage of upending twists and a primary suspect that changes every episode, it becomes a question of whether or not these two morons can accidentally stumble backwards into the truth... before the clock runs out.
