Quite the limo ride!
Chartreuse114 May 2023
Despite what others think on here, I thought this was a good, campy Canadian movie and for what it was worth, entertaining. Kimber, a senior in HS, calls for a rideshare after a party and ends up getting into the wrong car and the driver tries to abduct her but she manages to get out hurting her arm. A month or so passes and she's ready for senior prom along with her friends, Everleigh and Joan. A boy named Austin invites Kimber to go with him and Everleigh goes with a boy named Luke and Joan goes as a 5th wheel. Austin orders a stretch limo and the driver lays out the rules while in his vehicle, no drinking is one of them. Unfortunately, he catches them drinking and LOCKS them in the limo. But why? You'll have to tune in and suspend belief as with many Lifetime movies which are made to entertain and I was. Recommended for a watch!

Why?

The premise of the movie is simple enough to grasp. Teenagers going to prom and somehow find themselves abducted. So as you settle in to watch this movie, you think there is no way anybody can mess up such a simple plot. That can't be any further from the truth. This movie seemed like 2 hours worth of improv performed on a tight schedule with an immediate "due by close of business" deadline. I will include no spoilers because something this bad needs to be seen for yourself. You will laugh, you will yell and you will no doubt be confused and angry. After an hour, you will hope that this limo goes over a cliff to put an end to this trash on film you are viewing.

Really a waste of time.

The thought process behind this movie is just too poor. Sure there is a story line but it is rather too weak. It is as though the movie was written by a 6 year old. Every action or thought behind the characters is that of kindergarten children. None of the characters had a sense of urgency or survival instincts. The College guy tried to show a bit of courage but also is a very weak manner. The movie lacked suspense and honestly, even when the truth came out at the end, I already lost interest in continuing to watch it. I'm rating this very poor movie a 2.5 at best, not even a 3. I really believe the 5.4 rating is a bit much for it.

"Don't Push It"

Warning: Spoilers
This has to be one of the worst LM I have seen in awhile! I am an easy pleaser when it comes to LM because I already know not to expect fireworks. But this movie was just plain bad. Bad acting, stupid lines, and long dramatic pauses that made you roll your eyes. It was like no one in the movie had taken an acting class before the making of this. The actors emotions were laughably bad! When the mom get's mad at the dad and then says "I'm coming for you baby", I was like who the hell is she talking to? She might as well have been taking straight into the camera when she said that. If you enjoy good acting with a good storyline, then this would be a movie for you to pass on by. Also, you never really found out if the two boys were the dad's or not. So that was frustrating. I also thought it was stupid that the dad found out during the movie he had cancer, but somehow managed to have a whole affair with another woman. They just skipped right over us even seeing that. It was just not a logical movie so tbh they get one star from me for a couple of the pretty actors. That's it though, I do not recommend watching this movie, it was a waste of time!

A Bumpy Night!
lavatch9 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
As Bette Davis's character opines in the classic "All About Eve," "Fasten your seat belts; it's going to be a bumpy night!"

In "Abducted on Prom Night," the filmmakers deserve credit for coming up with a new variation on a Prom Night horror story. In this case, a group of youngsters are kidnapped and trapped in a limo that was supposed to transport them to the prom. Young Kimber McCann is the main focus, as her father has something very valuable in his safe which is coveted by the perpetrators.

My favorite character was Everleigh, the sassy and irreverent friend of Kimber. With Everleigh, there will never be a dull moment in a limo ride. There were also some good twists in the story and a well-timed revelation of the details about Kimber's father Paul.

The exuberant cast kicked some life into the long limo ride. The dialogue was crisp with a sly undercurrent of humor. The result was a fresh take on Prom Night. While it was a bumpy night and the kids never made it to the prom, it was nonetheless a night of revelations and family secrets.

Meh!

Warning: Spoilers
I am glad to see the majority of reviews are negative and did not find this Lifetime movie to be special or a hit! The premise of the movie was not bad, but the acting, especially the male parts, was terrible. All the male characters were mostly very wooden and dry. It was so terrible that one could mistake this movie for an alien invasion like the invasion of the body snatchers! Kimber's dad, Austin and his psycho brother (limo driver) especially were terrible.

I totally disagree with one reviewer who like the Everleigh character for her being, and I quote "sassy and irreverent" character. On the contrary I found her to be impish and obnoxious. Basically none of the characters were likeable, even Kimber's mom Shauna. The only one I liked was poor Joan who was constantly the subject of Everleigh's bullying and mocking. And Kimber hardly did anything to defend Joan. And even at the end when she half apologises to Joan for the way she had treated her in response to Joan saying that all three of the could perhaps hang out together when all this was over she replies, "don't push it." I'm guessing the reviewer who liked Everleigh so much might have been an Everleigh him/herself back in high school.

Anyway this Lifetime product was mediocre at best! Don't get too excited or eager to see it!
