Explain why I'm wrong?

Warning: Spoilers
Seeing a popular show for the first time years after it has aired has some rewards. But only some. Trying to figure out where a plot or story line will go is supposed to be fun. But since most have seen the entire show, they have that to draw upon when making their final conclusions. But I don't. So as of now, the Max/Eleanor story line has me baffled. Max and John Silver decide to go into cahoots together. When this fails and Max gets caught, she is asked by Eleanor to give them the information. Max pleads with Eleanor to leave with her, saying she can't and would never leave her. (Eleanor) But we the viewer know this is a lie, as Max and John Silver already had a boat waiting for them, and at no point before Max got caught did she ask Eleanor to go with her. Meaning the whole story line of Max blaming Eleanor is stupid and pointless. She's holding a grudge for something she did, not Eleanor. 'I would never leave you" Holds no meaning as we know that's exactly what Max was doing. So why do I feel the writers are trying to make Max a sympathetic character, when she was 100% in the wrong? Maybe they won't, I can't tell. But so far it's an appetizer of backstabbing, followed by drinks of backstabbing, and then a main course of backstabbing. This formula will get old for me quickly. Yes, it looks nice. Yes, the acting is awesome. No, I don't need drawn out explicit sex scenes, just because some viewers think their 'hot'. To manty good characters and story lines to be wasted on multiple 6 min sex scenes.

Appalling

Warning: Spoilers
Two men simply have no business writing sexual assault against women storylines that they cannot possibly understand. It's disgusting to see an assault used immediately as a plot device to maneuver the male characters into the positions the writers need them to go in. The female characters act and react in ways that no human would, purely for the sake of moving the characters like chess pieces across a board. For a show that is lauded for its queer representation, the destruction of the first queer relationship depicted and the punishment of both parties is so thorough it's hard not to see it as malicious. Having another female character's narration of a passage instructing one not to be upset or wonder why we have received a blow but instead be grateful that we survived and absorbed it play over the sexual assault victims face is the cherry on top of the misogynist sundae.
