Sex & Nudity

  • No sex or nudity.
  • Teens gossip about someone getting divorced because her husband found out she wasn't a virgin. One girl teases others for being virgins.
  • Flirting, marriage proposals.
  • One girl asks another if it hurt the first time she had sex. The second girl is interrupted before she answers.
  • A 14 year old girl gets married.

Violence & Gore

  • Film takes place during a time of war. No war scenes in the film but occasional comments and discussion about the war throughout including mention of people getting killed.
  • A gossiping teenager says she'll "crack [her neighbour's] head open".
  • Several scenes featuring loud, angry arguments. A man's parents argue with his wife. A husband a wife argue in several scenes. During the arguments, people throw things at each other and threaten each other. In two scenes a man grabs a woman. In one scene, a woman slaps a teenaged girl.
  • Teens handle a gun in several scenes and it gets passed back and forth between two characters. In one scene, a girl pulls a gun on some bullies and scares them away. In another scene, a girl aims the gun at a woman standing on the other side of a door.
  • Two bullies harass and assault several characters. A boy pulls a knife on a girl and threatens her. The bullies attack another boy. The bullies throw stones at two girls.
  • General "roughhousing"/"horseplay" between teenagers: pushing, punching, throwing things at each other, hitting each other with bags.
  • A group of boys grab a girl and force her into a car.
  • A man strikes a girl in the face. She has some bruising around her eye in later scenes.
  • Soldiers and prison guards are seen briefly carrying guns.
  • A jealous husband and a group of friends chase a young man through the streets.
  • A man gets stabbed and killed.

Profanity

  • Some profanity throughout. Approximately 20 uses of profane language including about 10 uses of the f-word.
  • Similar amounts of mild insults (i.e. "idiot", "stupid").

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Cigarette smoking in several scenes, occasionally by young teens.
  • A man's drinking is problematic for his whole family. He argues with his wife about it in several scenes and his children hate him because of it.
  • Teenagers drink casually. People drink at meals and at a wedding.
