Annie Oakley participated in a stage production called "Buffalo Bill's Wild West." The production for the Outdoor Man is a reference to the 1885 show in which Oakley co-started. It was her participation in this show that helped develop the image of the competent cowgirl.
In the stage coach scene at the beginning of the show, Eve is seen shooting a revolver. While she shoots the revolver you can see the muzzle blast of the gun, which is expected, but the hammer of the firearm is never retracted. The hammer must come forward in a revolver in order to strike the primer that discharges the projectile in the bullet.
