Needed a better cast
lmnclips217 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Honestly this was a decent enough LTM. However it had its problems. It could've done better with an entirely different cast. The lead actress, Alissa Filoramo, who I have seen in other LTM's in the past, was not really fit for the role here. And there was barely any resemblance between her and her daughter. It's almost like the casting directors found whichever actors were available for the role, not caring if they looked similar to another character related to them or not. Not to mention that the actress that played the daughter appeared in a Dhar Mann video the day after this movie premiered. Really makes me wonder about the choice of actors here.

The acting by the fiancé and Mary were mediocre at best. And the villainous reveal with Mary didn't really surprise me. I kind of saw it coming, I suspected her about 25 minutes in. And let's not forget about the several plot holes this film had. Such as how Mary managed to drag her brother's dead body all the way from the coffin to her house without any help, and nobody acting alarmed when Mary yelled at Danielle when she tried to eat the tainted spaghetti.

The part that annoyed me most was when Hope's "stalker" showed up at her workplace while she was working on a patient who was obviously dealing with some surgery or serious health problem. She just wouldn't take her eyes off of him, and it cost her her job and medical license. Hoped it was worth it (no pun intended). But seriously, that part irritated THE heck out of me! Like be professional, your patient is dealing with a life or death situation ffs!

Lastly, it's 2023! Can we please be more original with character last names? No more Miller's, Johnson's, Joneses, Davises, and Wilson's. This is probably the tenth Lifetime movie this year alone, where one of the characters last names is Miller. It's getting old at this point and it shows a lack of originality on the writer's part.

The Acting....
frhvprk31 January 2024
I haven't gotten through the whole movie yet but had to comment on how tragic the acting was! I wanted to give it a chance but couldn't stop snickering at the acting skills of these cast members! That's where the true horror is!

It wasn't only the acting that made me give it one star. It was the sound effects of everything! It was off (ie footsteps and rustling paperwork), the story line was all over the place (ie it was difficult to connect with any of the characters) and the dialogue was torture trying to follow along! (It was like they just threw conversations between the characters together without giving any context) I'm not hard to please but this had to be one of the worst movies I've seen!

The Ghost of Toby Miller
lavatch2 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There was an especially ghoulish scene that set the tone for this thriller. A party is given for Dr. Hope Collins. A cake is brought on. And the song for the occasion is "Happy Death Day" to memorialize the demise of the stalker Toby Miller who traumatized Dr. Collins.

Dr. Collins took the Hippocratic oath, yet, in a lugubrious moment, she watched Toby Miller die of cardiac arrest with no intervention. Will there be karma for the good doctor when she violated her oath?

There was an offbeat quality to the narrative that depicts the return of Toby or a copycat to continue stalking Dr. Collins. Her daughter Danielle believes that it may be Toby's ghost returned from the grave. Indeed, the grave of Toby Miller is exhumed in the course of the film, and the coffin is empty!

There were numerous suspects in this case, and Dr. Collins perhaps unwisely confronts each one of them personally. Her best friend and fellow doctor Nadine is taken to task. The kind personal assistant Mary LaRoux is under suspicion. Dr. Collins's unemployed husband Evan is a suspect. Even the daughter Danielle is confronted.

The fine ensemble cast hit all the right notes in this quirky film. And there were some genuine moments of suspense in a well-scripted, well-directed, and eminently watchable film.
