Another overused Lifetime whodunit!
Chartreuse117 April 2023
Michelle is a radio DJ who gives advice to lonely hearts who call in and ask her to play a tune to make them feel better about themselves. Her producer and friend, Lily, works in the sound booth with her and then there's Keith who's the sound engineer. She gets a caller who keeps calling her and requesting the same song. She starts to freak out and tells her bf Aiden about it but he's mad at her because they don't spend enough time together and he's upset they can't work on their relationship. The caller won't give up either so she's torn with combined stress from work and at home. Someone leaves her a rose and she thinks it's from Aiden but he says he didn't send it. Then who did? I didn't care because it was a predictable plot that falls pretty flat. Skip it.

More silly than a mystery
hollykal31 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I want to start off saying I did somewhat enjoy the movie, but it gave me a laugh more than a thriller vibe. Eric Roberts has a small role, but whenever I see him I can't help but laugh. He really has the creepy old man role down! The ending where the stalker was revealed was more silly than scary. Some parts didn't make too much sense, such as when the main character and her best friend go into the neighbor's house and he's supposed to have been dead for a week, wouldn't the smell hit them as soon as they walked in lol. There was no mention of a smell. Overall, it's an ok movie and sort of fun to watch, but not much of a thought provoking mystery/thriller.

Another Lifetime flop
dierkingl25 January 2024
The beginning scene had nothing to do with the movie or they forgot to tie together. Typical same actors in these movies but exchanging roles. The main character is a cold hearted typical woman who has a man who loves her and she treats like crap. That is the new style of movies/tv shows now. The woman is masculine and "don't need no man" attitude. Awful acting from the main character and her side kick. All the male characters are painted as weak and the women as maculine. The story was awful. I gave it 3 stars for the house. Beautiful home with a nice layout. Eric Roberts this one is a good guy. Don't bother.

Draggy and flat

If I Can't Have You

First off, comparing "Play Misty For Me" to this thing - as another reviewer did- is like comparing gold to pot metal.

I only gave it 2 stars because of two of my favorite longtime Lifetimers being in it, albeit with small roles: Eric Roberts and Tracy Nelson (although I loved ER long before he became a frequent Lifetime actor). Otherwise it would be a zero rating.

It struck me all through it that the lead actress - Bailey Kai - strongly resembles Darryl Hannah.

Brief review:

Lead actress slept throughout - very flat, emotionless acting. Every time she and her friend would go out for coffee, I hoped it would finally wake her up. Very easy to figure out who the stalker is, from about fifteen minutes into the movie. The hour and thirty-five minutes went by soooo slooow with very little actually happening, leading up to a weak anti-climactic ending. Plus, the two neighbors - Robert and Benjamin Sklar - were confusing as to who was who and who lived where. Especially near the end when Robert walked right by her to go to his car, as if she was in his driveway....?

So flat, draggy, and boring that if it hadn't been for Eric and Tracy, I wouldn't have made it past the first forty mins or so. Skip it and save yourself the time.

Grade F / 2 out of 10.

So Bad
carolynocean19 May 2023
Oh dear, I am watching this as I write my review . Whenever I see Eric Roberts name in a movie , I know that it will not be good!

And so far , I am right!

The story line is just pathetic , and someone is trying to compensate for bad acting and script by playing continuous music throughout , in scenes where it sould not be played !

The main actress is so bad , monotone and flat , i don't think that she changed her expression throughout , and the scene where she went to the police to report that she was being stalked was hilarious ! The detective with the odd hair that spoke with her should go back to training , because the exchange between them was ridiculous !!

Watch it if you will , but be warned .....not good !

No offense but this movie was very bad.
When I watched this movie I thought it would be good I guess wrong. The girl that played Michelle reminds me as an robot that has no emotions through this entire movie. I mean this was terrible acting and very disappointed and had no story it was like it was cut in half about the girl no else where it wasn't going anywhere of the story just an stalker. Honestly this could of been a better story the rest of the cast did good with the acting but the girl could of done better and no offense. If I wanted to watch an movie that has no emotions I could of watched The Faculty. I'm sorry for giving an bad review on this I normally don't but watching this just bugged me I'm sorry for making anyone upset don't mean to be.

Eric Roberts and Adam Rockoff
historicalfictionmatters10 January 2024
Although not one Adam Rockoff's best screenplays, at least Eric Roberts, Jackee Harry, Tracy Nelson, and a diverse group of actors make this movie less predictable, fun, at times laughable along with a tinge of mystery, suspense, and thrill. Eric TR Roberts is a fav for so many fans, the fact that the plot is at times a little Nancy Drew-ish means nothing to the fans that watch this entertainment 22 hours a day, 7 days a week. Coming off the pandemic and strike, things will get better as long as Eric Roberts is cast as a villain in future projects. Besides writing reviews, fans can probably provide some interesting ideas for future Teleplays.

Play Misty For Me, Please
lavatch15 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This film drew upon the same conceit as the Clint Eastwood film "Play Misty For Me" about a deranged fan obsessed with a late-night disk jockey. In this case, Michelle Hall is the popular radio host, who gives soothing advice and plays romantic songs to her audience of bleeding hearts.

There was a confusing and gratuitous prologue that was intended to set the stage for the psychopathic and obsessed fan of Michelle. But the implied murder witnessed at the start was never developed within the main body of the film. The film would have been tighter by cutting the prologue.

Another shortcoming of the film was the lack of suspense in identifying the crazed fan. The useless police detectives only gave Michelle the advice to keep her eyes open and watch her back. But for the astute viewer, the major question is who had access to Michelle's home that was necessary to harass her.

The excellent cast included fan-favorite Eric Roberts, a national treasure, who plays the studio boss at Michelle's recording facility. Other well-developed characters were Michelle's two co-workers, Lily and Keith; the strange neighbor, Mr. Sklar; and Robert, the head of Michelle's rival radio station.

The film was crisply directed with good locations and interior settings. But there is no comparison with "Play Misty For Me," a classic in the film genre of the romantic thriller.
