Faith based Hallmark romance about a woman getting out of debt and finding love.
cgvsluis27 April 2023
This is the story of Dawn a divorced single mom who is on the verge of having her home foreclosed upon by the bank. Her ex-husband has skipped out after putting his wife and son in a pretty big financial hole. Dawn, who already has a job at the local vet gets a second job waitressing at a local restaurant. Through faith or luck she meets Ben and starts selling these blessing bracelets that she used to make in high school. The bracelets take off, just like her relationship with Ben and his dog Lollie.

The two leads in this faith based romance had wonderful on screen chemistry and great actors, Carlo Marks and Amanda Schull. I appreciated that both Ben and Dawn still had both their parents and they were supportive...as was their local church community.

Normally I would complain about yet another divorce storyline on Hallmark, but I think this one was handled well and didn't bother me with this overall sad theme. In fact quite the reverse the overall message was one of hope. The Easter festivities were a highlight and it was fun to see all of the pastel colors, eggs and flowers.

I highly recommend this to fans of romance and faith based tv.

Worthwhile reminder
Jackbv12310 April 2023
Count your blessings plus a dose of forgiveness are the ideas behind this movie. A divorced woman who seems to be hopelessly in debt thanks to her ex stumbles on the idea of making these bracelets to remind people to count their blessings. These main ideas plus some chemistry between Amanda Schull and Carlo Marks are enough to make this a pleasant watch.

The story is simplistic and predictable. There are no great highs or lows or surprises and very little tension beyond Dawn's financial crisis which the viewer knows is somehow going to be rescued by the bracelet business.

I often say that these movies struggle with any resemblance to reality but this one really stretches things. The business model portrayed in the movie is a confusing mess but somehow produces revenue enough to pay off months of back house payments and more. I was surprised when I did an internet search and saw one article claim the inspiration for these was an actual product on Amazon. Looking there I saw the subject bracelets were selling for nearly $30 each. Still.

There is an unintentional secret in the story which leads to a conflict. I thought that was overplayed, but they needed something and I guess the backstory does sort of explain the anger.

For those who don't like religious sermonizing, that part of this story is benign. While Dawn talks to God several times and emphasizes counting her blessings, the movie is far from preachy. And she could have been part of almost any mainstream religion.

A woman talks to God
MickyG33324 April 2023
8.0 stars.

As it got underway I could see this was going to be a special film. It's nice to have a story that is not totally outrageous with the miracles and the fluffy Christianity from a ridiculous perspective. A lot of Hallmark movies overstate these "miracles", making them out to be modern fairy tales. Yes, I believe in miracles, but how can we rightly believe that God will answer every little question or request by sending a fantastical set of signs and wonders? I would be in the majority who find those sorts of movies to be unconvincing.

'The Blessing Bracelet' is an understated version of an inspirational film, a tale of a woman who resorts to prayer to reconstruct a devastated life. Her husband disappeared 3 years ago leaving her and their son alone with massive debts. She is about to lose the house and she's in a very grim state trying to pick up the pieces of her life and learn to gain trust in men and life in general. God answers her prayers in a subtle yet undeniable way, and she builds her life once again until she is now in a better place than she was before. It's quite an endearing story of redemption, community and charity.

Great movie about how faith brings hope.
TexasGreatGrams10 April 2023
This Hallmark movie is just a little different from the run of the mill Hallmark movie. There is a mother who has been betrayed by her (now ex) husband and her son who misses his Dad who he has not seen in 3 years. The Mom has been (unsuccessfully) struggling to get herself caught up on all the debt that's been accumulating since the hubby walked away. Thankfully she has great friends who are willing to help. On the way to an annual Valentine dinner with her friends, she finds a "Blessing Bracelet" she and her friends used to make in high school. She wears it to the dinner and the blessings start. Of course, a romance begins and a complication arises, but the "Blessing Bracelet" she wears is a reminder that faith and hope can work miracles.

Unrealistic supposed faith based Economics
charcnc30 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The plot was okay, but the financial stress didn't ring true and prevented me from enjoying this. Our heroine was left in a financial bind by her husband, and her home is about to be foreclosed. Her love interest is the manager at the bank in charge of her loan. He has become a bit disillusioned by his job, but pushes forward with the status quo. She meets his dog at her vet shop and romance blooms.

She retrieves some blessing bracelets she made years ago that has an optimistic spiritual aspect and it might become a solution to her money problems. Yet throughout the movie, multiple solutions present themselves and she is too proud to accept. How does she know that these are not blessings?

I thought it was a sweet movie, just unrealistic. Accepting funds for her child shouldn't be considered a lack of faith. Supposedly financially strapped people in large, beautiful houses, considering getting pets and turning down offers of help. I thought they got concepts of faith muddled for the sake of a storyline.

I was drawn to this movie.
texasfolk20 June 2023
I was drawn to this movie because of the casting directors. Jackie Lind and Penny Perry are two of the top casting executives in the world. It has been a while since I have seen them team up because every time they did I loved the movie. I know it may be stupid to an average viewer, but these two are like Batman and Robin. They just never go wrong. Their movies are classic Hallmark.

I was absolutely shocked that Hallmark would return to a faith based movie. Hallmark has returned to a wholesome show. To be honest, I have turned off many a recent Hallmark movie within the first 15 minutes. The chemistry between the two leads is excellent, and the supporting cast fills in many of the lulls between the lead interactions. To hear Hallmark mentioned the word God unabashedly is absolutely fundamental for those of us who remember and wish Hallmark would return to the good all days.

I don't review movies to tell you what to expect and give a synopsis of the show. I did enjoy the show and would recommend it.

A faith-based Hallmark movie in 2023? Wow!
herrcarter-921617 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I liked this movie a lot. I loved how faith-based this movie was, and was amazed that the powers that be actually allowed this movie to reach the light of day. Even on Hallmark, whose core audience are largely believers, this is amazing in 2023. It gives me a little hope that God is not totally dead in movies.

I loved the message about being grateful for your blessings. Through the simple device of the blessing bracelet, this movie echoed the timeless truth that your happiness isn't so much dependent on what you have or don't have, but on being grateful for the things that you do have. I liked how the simple act of gratitude led our heroine Dawn and many others to increased happiness and increased faith in God. I'm glad that she realized the value of being part of a community of believers. These are invaluable lessons.

The romance part of the story was done well. There was chemistry between Dawn and Ben and the relationship between them seemed very natural and unforced. Ben was extremely likable. He never wavered from his good guy persona. I like that Dawn went for a good guy rather than a bad boy. I also like that the movie avoided the silly, forced, initial combativeness between the two that seems to be the staple of most rom-coms. It is possible to just meet someone and like them right away without being their quasi-enemy first. I also appreciated that they avoided the typical, awkward, mid-movie, almost-kiss, which is interrupted by something. Instead, they had a nice mid-movie hug, followed later by a real, uninterrupted kiss that felt much more natural.

This was such a nice, feel-good movie with such a good message that I feel bad criticizing it at all, but sadly, I must. A lot of the plot points in this movie were just not handled well by the screenwriters. Dawn was just so hell-bent on making it on her own and so unwilling to swallow her pride and accept help, that it seemed unrealistic. Her parents offered to help her at the beginning of the movie so she didn't lose her house, and she refused them? Really? She couldn't have taken a loan from her own parents, rather than ending up homeless? And then later, her ex-husband returned to the picture, wanted to make amends and offered her a $10,000 check, and she refused him? Wow! I'm not sure why he wasn't paying her child support the whole time, and why that wasn't even mentioned, but I'd say the $10,000 should have been accepted by her as a down payment on back child support. I also didn't like how she was in the church one minute, talking to God about how she needed to forgive, and then, when she had the perfect opportunity, with her ex showing up and apologizing profusely, she refused to forgive him. What a wasted opportunity by the screenwriters to hammer home the importance of forgiveness! There were other little things that bugged me, such as how Mister supposedly compassionate banker Ben, when given the opportunity to show some compassion and extend the terms of Dawn's loan, just said no. Or how Ben unilaterally bought the store and set Dawn up for her own business without even asking her (with no explanation where he got the money for that). Or how Dawn continued to rely on free labor from the church to manufacture her blessing bracelets. The first time, they were helping her out of a bind because of her financial situation. The second time, when it became clear that this was to be a profitable business, she should have started paying employees to make those bracelets instead of taking advantage of free labor from the church. Sorry, these are things that made the story less enjoyable for me. I just wish the screenwriters had taken a little more time to polish their story and get rid of these rough edges.

I hope it doesn't sound like I didn't like this movie, because I did. It was a wonderful, feel-good, faith-based movie, the type they should be making more often, and the type we should be supporting. I definitely recommend it.

Refreshing Faith Based Hallmark Movie
jaana-3890212 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
We thought this was an excellent movie! All of the faith based movies seem to have disappeared lately. This was an absolute breath of fresh air! It is such a good reminder for all of us to reflect on all of our blessings, regardless of how small the blessing may be. There are blessings around us every single day and we need to take the time to stop and to reflect and to give thanks to the One that deserves the praise for our blessings. Every good thing comes from God above and He deserves to be praised. Nice and clean family entertainment. Thank you for having the courage to make and air this.

I started watching bracelet blessings and was shocked
rqfkqzjx16 April 2023
What year is the wig that the actress playing the mother was designed in? This wig looks ridiculous for a 2023 movie. These hairdos reflect movies going back to Humphrey Bogart, Grace Kelly, and other deceased actresses. I do not know if I'm gonna continue watching it but PLEASE design WIGS that give the actress or actor some kind of style and allure for 2023! I have a lot of experience with hairdos and hairstyles, esthetics, wardrobe. You make-up and wardrobe artists need to realize that what you think is the new thing is old and passé. Use your creative juices to see beauty and also realism in whatever you create be at wigs, costumes or anything else.

Rare faith based Hallmark film which was actually pretty solid
mzmmtdzxd28 March 2024
Let's forget about the faith based aspects of this film for a moment and just say that overall it was an above average Hallmark film.

The script was pretty sharp and acting was solid. It was obviously predictable but you still were rooting for various characters, even with the outcome already known.

One of the ways that I rate these movies is how frequently I have to suspend disbelief, and how ludicrous those moments are. This film only had 2 or 3 aspects which made me roll my eyes...which is pretty low compared to the average Hallmark film.

Ok...now to the faith part and overall message. I know this angle will be divisive but I thought it was well done, with things even non-Christians could take from it. It is unusually direct in its Christian references, which I liked but understand how others might not be.

Cheesy
linda-plant223 January 2024
First, Amanda's flat wig was a cross between Nicole Kidman and Veronica Lake, and looked old fashioned for 2024. The U. S have always been a bit behind in the fashion stakes, with some lead ladies looking like 1960s country singers.

The storyline was different, but whereas we know that Hallmark scriptwriters love lines that include "listen to your heart" and ""follow your heart" - (do people actually talk like that ? They do in Hallmarkland apparently), I found that the constant referrals to faith, God and community, a bit OTT. Maybe it's because here in the UK we don't "do" faith films we're just not that preachy. We go to whichever church our God dictates - if we go, but we're pretty much low key in our faith so yes, I do find this film a bit cheesy.

The two leads were well matched, and it was an OK watch. I've seen much worse.

Is this what Americans like?
StefanHighlander5 May 2024
I'm not religious, so maybe I am biased in reviewing a faith based film. But on the other hand, reading all the other reviews here, I see all of those writing them are biased 'cause of their religious believes.

Lets be honest. This is the cheesiest film out there. The son of the main actress isn't real. He gives ubrealistic compliments to his mother and the mother's new boyfriend. It just doesn't feel real.

At first I thought the film was some sort of a joke or satirical flick, but I soon realized it was actually for real.

But, hey, just keep reviewing films like this at a staggering 6.9 and IMDB will totally lose it's credibility in the future.
