Very emotional
jillladyinblue25 April 2013
This is one of the best episodes in a while now. I enjoyed the emotional and comical content and it reminded me more of the Sam and Dean I fell in love with in previous seasons. I also would love to see more in the future of their brotherhood growing stronger, as it seems to have fallen apart more in this season and even in last season.I enjoyed the emphasis on letting go in this episode, which is very therapeutic to most people. I look forward to Charlie developing more as a character in the future. I believe she will be a great asset to the show. I really look forward to seeing more of her and the Winchester brothers possibly in later episodes and I would have never guessed that Charlie would have developed into such a supporting character.

Show is running out of ideas!
mm-3927 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The show is running out of ideas! The Pac-Man Fever episode is an okay episode. The Charlie and Dean characters blend well with the opposites attract scenario. Charlie brings the human side out of the Dean character. The Dean looking after Sam scenario is played out way too many times in Supernatural, but I guess that is what Dean's job is as Sam's older brother. The Charlie character adds much humour to the episode. I will not ruin Pac-Man Fever, but all I will say that this episode Pac-Man fever has one of the most bizarre endings for the Supernatural Series. This episode shows the difference between the y and x generations. The Pac-Man Fever episode is not to be taken seriously, but entertaining. I give this episode a Supernatural 7 out of 10 stars.

Best "Monster of the Week" Episode in Awhile
chelsea-mills27 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I very much enjoy Felicia Day and her role as Charlie. I'm glad the show has a relatable female character, especially now that Meg is dead. I like that she can develop a non-sexual relationship with both the brothers, because it eliminates that (what I find) cheesy romance drama, as this isn't a show about romance (which is also why I liked Meg as much as Charlie). The episode reminded me of old ones simply because it was an episode that lead astray from the overall story arch, but was emotional and intriguing nonetheless.

When she told Dean that she loved him at the end of the episode, I was kind of caught off guard. I hope to see her develop a better relationship with Sam, because I find that the secondary characters in this show seem to "prefer" Dean most of the time.

This may be the best Charlie episode, nice variant on the monster
CubsandCulture7 September 2020
Djinn are only used a few times in the show but the show's version lends itself to psychological horror that other monster do not necessarily have. That it is put to good use in this episode as it normally is. I think this episode can easily stand along side "What Is and What Should Never Be" as just as engaging , just as memorable and because of Charlie almost as emotional. It is just a fully realized episode that is funny, unnerving and touching.

Charlie's backstory really lands. The use of the Hobbit makes perfect sense for the character and the story. And Charlie ends up feeling very part of the Winchester's world because of her life circumstances. Add in Day gives a solid dramatic performance in addition to her goofball charm and well this a classic of the series.

Stop all you Charlie bashers

Charlie, Felicia Day, is awesome. I love her in this show and in Eureka she's funny, quirky and a great play off San and Dean. I was sad when she was killed off but thrilled other world Charlie came back. Hope she's around for season 14

Charlie, the much needed little sister!
itnuffsedd11 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Enough with the haters & whiners. Ya'll just don't have a clue! This was another great episode & so entertaining! Fillers are necessary to keep things from getting mundane. It helps with character development. Part of the greatness of this series.

Charlie is such a breathe of fresh air! I love Felicia Day & her character adds so much to the show. She's no doubt the little sister to the guys. I just wish she was in more episodes or became a regular. She's witty, funny, smart, & just fits in.

Charlie getting into hunting was a great touch. She's obviously very smart, a technical wiz, & has proven how quickly she picks up on things. This is not unrealistic!

The bad thing was killing her off later in the series. Worse was how they killed her. It was cheap. Crappy writers, directors, & producers. She deserved better!

I love Charlie but her suddenly being great at hunting is ridiculous. I do love that Dean and Charlie are buddies.

So-so
danajs244 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Unfortunately, Charlie is back. Is this two episodes in one season? Yuck. We meet the "bastard offshoot" of a djinn, which is quite predictably the mortician. Sam's health is getting worse and worse, and is starting to bother me with how pesky it is, breaking up lines and jokes and the like. Getting near the end now, and it seems like there is a ton of story left, with the third trial to be had, the effects of that trial, and then some kind of conclusion with the angels and the demons. They're going to have to absolutely pack the last few episodes if they plan on tying everything up. Hope we get back to the story line fully and completely in the next episodes, as I don't want a rushed and terrible finale on our hands.

Dream root coma
sprfrkdvd0225 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Why was dream root introduced in an episode that it would have come in very handy and choose not use it. Charlie could have used the dream root to spend time(say sorry) to her mom while comatose. Why was that not done?

Mary Sue is not an instruction manual.
ottoborg2 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Enough of this mary sue bull. Just SICK of charlie. What a terrible character. A character with no flaws or shortcomings is a boring character, and the "xDDD so quirky!" references are gratingly cringe inducing. Seriously, superhacker, crackshot, and flirting with every girl in sight is just so tedious. Had to take a two month break from the series just to prepare for the episode, AND THEN There's AN OUTFIT MONTAGE. That's as far as I've gotten, I might need copious amounts of alcohol to continue.

Everything that doesn't involve the worst character in modern times seems to be pretty decent though. Mute button whenever Charlies on screen might be helpful.
