The Best Episode So Far!
Alex_Hodgkinson8 March 2014
I've been rushing through this series. A lot of it has been a bit 'meh', with the occasional brilliant episode. But none has matched this episode. I describe this series as an ordinary crime drama with unique characters and back stories about Castle's family, but this episode is entirely unique! I never expected such a damn near perfect episode from this show! I mean, just wow! A twist around every corner! Constant surprises, one which leaves your mouth agape! It was so intense and emotional!

I've never reviewed a Castle episode and hardly ever review TV episodes because I don't have the time and can't put in the episode, which just goes to show how absolutely amazing this episode is! I just wasn't expecting it! This should be the highest rated Castle episode as it is just so perfect, bar the missing Castle comedy due to its dark nature.

I'm still recovering from the intensity! Wow!

Castle at his Best!!
kamran_301226 February 2013
Well this is my first review. I am happy that it's for my favorite show 'Castle'. Well Let me Begin this is the best season. Believe me this is the BEST EPISODE of CASTLE. This episodes proves that Nathan Fillon is a Fantastic Actor. He really doesn't leave you disappointed . He proves that he can handle emotional roles with ease. His dialogues are clever and not over-the-top or not even chessy The Plot is very unpredictable. It's original. The direction was sharp. It didn't leave any room for any errors. The Paris sequence is shot very well. Nothing is over hyped. The action is good. This is not a Rip off of Taken. the performances by the rest of the crew is good but it is over shadowed by Fillion's Flawless Performance.

Undoubtedly , This episode deserves a 10/10.

Keep calm and Watch CASTLE!!

One of the best episodes to date.
ptmom12 March 2013
Wow. Just got done watching this episode, and it was fantastic. The acting from all, including a great job by James Brolin, was top notch. Hope to see him on the big or little screen again soon. The screenplay and production was just spot on. Nathan Fillion and Molly Quinn...terrific. The direction was such that is kept one on the edge of one's seat, and somehow was believable... not sure how it did not go over the edge to "jump the shark", but it did not. One has to remember this is fiction... like James Bond or Bourne... and within that, it rang true. I hope Rob Bowman and Andrew Marlowe continue to collaborate for this show for a long time.

Best Castle episode to date

Warning: Spoilers
This was the very best Castle episode. When I watch American TV series I can usually figure out the plots mysteries fairly quickly. I love watching Castle and have to say I'm impressed with how this season has played out with "Richard's" relationship with "Becket". In most cases when a series gives into the "cat and mouse" playfulness between the guy likes the girl but the girl plays hard to get and vise versa, the series goes all gushy and loses the recipe that made the show great. This didn't happen and the writers kept the success of the show. That being said, this past 2 episodes didn't disappoint and kept me on the edge of the seat until the end. It answers so many questions to why the character "Richard" would be a great "action/spy" writer. Having it in his blood without having to do the actual physical part of the danger. Bravo Castle writers, producers and surely the actors. Well done.

Blown-away

Warning: Spoilers
I have watched all castle episodes so far, and it always gave me chills but the last two episodes were unexpected, and all at once.

Basically, the plot is about Castle's daughter being abducted along with her friend, Sarah. Sarah was left free in the first part. Alexis(Castle's daughter) is hold hostage in Paris and Castle comes for rescue. Many event takes place(which cannot be missed) and at the end of the show both Castle & Alexis comes home safe.

This episode absolutely so far my favorite, and if you watch it too i think u'll agree. It is in fact a MUST-WATCH episode. It is quiet Overwhelming, at first i weren't able to digest it, but once you watch the whole episode, you'll also be ASTONISHED!

I can assure you its worthy enough your time.

Great episode, except for Alexis...

Warning: Spoilers
Well just a few episodes ago Alexis thought she knew better about putting all her info online, when and where she was always going..... Don't care how smart she is, she is a know it all brat, who knows nothing. Can't be bait as a child of a famous rich person if you are going to use your name, and put yourself out there for the crazies. That is the one downfall of rewatching this show... Is you really see how much of a spoiled brat Alexis is.

But otherwise... A pretty awesome episode..

Confusing as you go along,

Warning: Spoilers
If you've read any of my other reviews of Castle, you probably know that I hate the Bracken thread. This episode and it's first half are the beginning of another stupid thread - Castle's father. And I agree with the reviewer that calls him a coward. Sure he comes to the rescue a couple of times, but if he had actually done some things to help Castle, many of his troubles from this point forward might have been avoided. But then so many suspenseful moments wouldn't have had the chance to show on screen.

Yes I hate this episode and this long term plot thread. But here's some advice to those of you who, like me, don't always remember some of the early clues especially if there are strictly visual. Like the sketches of the torturer. My point. This episode actually makes a little more sense and maybe is just a little bit more enjoyable the second time through.

Castle's father is a coward
deetya27 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
After watching this episode some months past, the thought just came to me a couple of week ago: Castle's father, Jackson, is actually a coward. Yeah, I'm a quick thinker. LOL

Continuing from the last episode where we are shown that torture is justified as long as the "Good Guys" do it, we get introduced to Jackson who happens to be an "intel asset." Turns out the cause of all this grief is a personal war between Jackson and a Soviet agent, Volkov. Apparently Jackson killed Volkov's family during one of his operations. Slightly miffed that his family became collateral damage, Volkov chased after Jackson. Jackson went 'underground' so to speak. So Volkov kidnapped Alexis to lure her grandfather out in the open. Of course, Castle's father is both more deadly and more cunning and able to kill Volkov and rescue Alexis & Castle.

The thing is, Jackson could've avoided all this kidnapping and bloodshed just by facing Volkov, man to man. If he had done that, then either one of them or both get killed, but at least the issue is settled. Volkov would have had his revenge or joined his family, but the vendetta is done. No more problems.

If Jackson had the bravery and decency to face Volkov and take responsibility for his actions (killing civilians; i.e. Volkov's family) then Alexis wouldn't have to be kidnapped. But he didn't. He went into hiding such that Volkov had to lure him out using his granddaughter.

Another sign of his cowardice is his insistence in avoiding Volkov even up to the end. Instead of facing Volkov, he sent Castle in his stead. Instead of fighting him mano-a-mano, he dispatched Volkov using a bomb. Wow, what a brave guy… not.

He's supposed to be such a bad-ass that he can take down multiple gunmen without them being able to mount any effective retaliation. So why can't he just face down Volkov, deal with him face to face, so Alexis doesn't even have to get kidnapped.

What a wuss.

Yeah, I know, it's the script. but then writers really made him into such a coward. They probably didn't think things through. As it is now, Whatta Wuss

One of the worst episodes of castle ever
edisondsa-365-56879318 March 2013
Really i am a big fan of Castle have seen every episode. But this was by-far the worst yet very poor acting by the crew supposed to be in France and even appears to be a poor rip-off of Taken. I still like castle but i felt this was the worst episode they ever filmed. Please keep castle's originality it was a good serial please revive it back to its former status. But still Nathan Fillion was good. Even the props were very poorly fashioned including the explosions. I hope Rob Bowman and Andrew Marlowe do collaborate for this show again and if they do someone please teach them to make decent episode with good acting and an original story.

Over Acting Much?
jamslo13 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Subject matter is hard to watch and hard to deal with. However, Fillion's acting is over the top arrogant and just bad. He shuts out Beckett, his mother and friends. This might be a first response but in a situation such as this, all assistance is warranted and needed. I know how this might sound but Fillion (Castle) plays arrogance well which indicates what kind of person he is. Gossip and rumors about him abound regarding the way he treats his acting buddies. Someone needs to wake up and understand that the world doesn't revolve around him. And the show has an excellent cast, not just him. I've heard the same thing is happening on his new show.
