Weekend at Barney's (#8.18)
ComedyFan20109 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
One of the things that I liked about this episode is that we had some good Marshall and Lily story. Unfortunately since they had a kid there was less of them and usually more about the kid. And it is a shame because I love those two characters. In this episode we have some great scenes with them. Marshall dropping his skittles was so perfectly done. And such a fun outcome that the ninjas and Marshall liking them helped Lily.

Now the real playbook got destroyed, and in a much greater dramatic way. The conversation Robin and Barney had about the book was also pretty good. But my favorite part of this story was Ted in the bar hitting on girls with Barney's advices.

Funny Episode!

I don't have a ton to say about this episode. Here is what was good:

1) The jokes were topical and not completely nonsensical. 2) The actors were all top notch this time! 3) The pacing was quick 4) BUT it didn't overlook important moments 5) Lily and Marshal had their first bit of character development in ages 6) More playbook (in context) is amazing! 7) Ted wasn't as annoying as he has been in the last 2 seasons

Here's what I didn't like:

1) Barney and Robin are a terrible couple when they aren't totally dysfunctional. 2) The playbook was destroyed, it just seems wrong! 3) Ted was still annoying, not as bad as usual, but still annoying.

Yay Marshall and Lily are given their first bit of character development in God knows how long.

Plot In A Paragraph: Barney breaks out "The Playbook" one final time to keep Ted from getting back together with Jeanette and taking her to his and Robins wedding, and Marshall embarrasses Lily at an art exhibition.

Ted was actually a lot of full in this episode for the first time in..... Errrr....

I can't remember the last time I enjoyed his character!! Somewhere over the seasons he has lost me. Marshal and Lily are at last getting something good to do, as I feel Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel have been pretty wasted of late. Thank god for Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson, or this full season may have been a complete write-off.

After Final Page Part II, the best episode this season!(minimal spoilers)
Shmaden25 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The plot of this episode started a few episodes back, and proves again that the writes know what they're doing just as they did with Final Page.

The humor was hilarious. Some of the best funny scenes on HIMYM were in this episode like the skittles dropped out of Marshall's pocket, or the funny attempts that Ted had on girls using Barney's Playbook.

Also again some very touching scenes between Barney and Robin, that moved their relationship forward as well as the plot too.

This season was a weird ride with some crazy episodes and touching moments. Can't wait to find out what's the symmetry between the end of this season and the end of the second season.

I like the bit where he opens the bag and all the skittles fall on the floor
