There's an intriguing, if somewhat convoluted, plot being carried out by the Braxtons here, perhaps too convoluted to take in without examining some very deep subtext.Adam and Jamie are warned to leave town so many times that the only real explanation is that Brax and Heath want to give them a chance to leave peacefully. They don't take the hint so by the end of the episode Jamie's walked into a trap.
Meanwhile, the characterisation of Celia continues to improve, as she's once more portrayed as offending everyone but getting away with it because she really doesn't know she's doing it.Alf does a good job of helping her keep her dignity while a phone call hints there's more to her situation than she claimed.
Roo is going out of her way to protect Spencer and Maddy, which seems as random as Gina latching into Jett last year, yet not as annoying somehow. It's clear that their story doesn't have a lot of truth in it but there's not many clues as to what the truth is yet. It's a surprising but clever move that Maddy is the one more suspicious of Roo's offer of help but then Spencer perhaps has a more selfless reason for accepting it.
