1950s. Saturday night in Ioannina,Epirus Greece. A company of middle-aged men has gathered at the inn of Guyannou. Charisis the tobacconist, the last of the tobacconists, an old man and strange man, very dear to all, was unexpectedly absent. The personality and morals of Charisis come to life through the conversations and descriptions of friends. Time is passing and the company, after they have drunk enough wine, they decide to look for him. After wandering through remote neighborhoods and alleys, they end up in his poor house. There they find Charisis dead. Alone with the dead, embarrassed and bewildered. They find a bottle of raki, and begin to sing. A very personal Goodbye to their friend.
