"Do you think she'll call us a taxi?" (last line of dialog)

OMG.

Amy Acker and Sarah Shahi in the same episode? Two of the strongest female actors of the era punching out their portrayals of two of the strongest fictional characters of the era, all set against the backdrop of what is (generally) one of the best-produced shows of the era.

How can you go wrong? Answer: you can't. If for example you were to set the first Mission Impossible film as your baseline for an acceptable thriller, this single episode surpasses that baseline by a considerable margin.

And, where I seem to have made it my mission to identify specific episodes of popular series for special mention in the IMDb, I seldom have the pleasure of finding reviewers ahead of me. But for this episode it looks like there was a queue of well-wishers already in place, and frankly they deserve to be there.

For a series which has pretty much "set the bar" for character introductions -- the first episode of this series contains a fight scene which is now iconic -- this intro of Sarah Shahi takes us to a new level of TV excellence.

I just loved Shaw
Apelix22 June 2013
Warning: Spoilers
PoI is turning the attention to a different kind of plot and I love it.

Root is back (her scene was awesome!), I like when Leon appears, he always gives this show a funny look.

The series has been introducing lots of characters lately. And important ones.

I just hope Shaw turns into a main one, and not a spin-off main character. I think she'd be perfect to form a trio with Finch and Reese (not counting with Bear :P).

I finished the 1st season rating it with a 7. Right now I'm considering summing 2 values up.

Easily the 2nd best episode of the show so far
gridoon20241 March 2021
2nd best because I still think that "Prisoner's Dilemma" has the slight edge. But this one is great fun, and Shaw is a breath of fresh air. Right from the intro you can tell that it will deviate from formula; the TV episode it reminded me most of is LOST's "The Other 48 Days" - it shows the other side of the coin. Shaw should become a regular - and so should Ken Leong's character, he is hilarious *** out of 4.

Relevance #2.16

Warning: Spoilers
Absolutely incredible, one of the best shows ever for Person of Interest. I was spell bound by this character, she is John's female counter part and complement at the same time. I was a big fan of Ms. Shahi from Fairly Legal but now I'm a bigger fan. Her acting skills clearly shine and she held my attention though out the hour. The only thing missing was more interaction between her and Jim Caviezel/John Reese, these two were made for each other. Still in a bit of a shock over her performance. If Sarah Shahi/Samantha Shaw doesn't become a regular someone is nuts. If not a regular then the word "spin off" should be the next obvious step. Incredible, awesome, fantastic.

Reese and Company Take a Backseat!
ShelbyTMItchell23 February 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Well it shows for the very first time in this show, probably a potential spin off. With ex Fairly Legal star Sarah Sahai as an lethal government operative named Shaw, the female version of John Reese, who prevents terrorists by killing them.

As she also has a Finch like computer expert guiding her in her missions. As he is killed mid way through. As she must rely on her wit and instincts to get her out as she herself, becomes a target.

I think that the show wants to do a POI spin off if the character Shaw is popular enough.

Bad news is that Reese and Finch took a backseat to her as Shaw was in the show almost 97% of the time. Only Carter and Fusco got one scene in. Really did not like that!

The Relevant Numbers
claudio_carvalho25 February 2024
In Berlin, Sam Shaw and her partner Michael Cole destroy a terrorist cell that is building a dirty bomb. Then they travel to New York since they have a new number. Therefore, Shaw and Cole receive the relevant numbers from The Machine related to terrorist threats. In New York, a man called Wilson delivers a new number to Shaw. Cole is questioning how the numbers are acquired and he mentions that their target Aquino was not accurate. Out of the blue, Cole receives a message telling him that it is a trap and they must leave the place. However, they are immediately attacked and Cole dies protecting Shaw. Reese appears to rescue her, but is shot by Shaw that learns that Wilson has betrayed them. The injured Shaw kidnaps a drug dealer named Lewis and head to the house of his boss. She removes the bullet from her stomach and when she is attacked by Lewis' gang, she kills them all and let Lewis go. Hersh hunts her down while Shaw contacts CIA Veronica Sinclair, who was attacked by Root and is posing as if she was her. She subdues Shaw, but when she will torture her, Wilson's men arrive and are killed by Shaw. Reese also helps her and brings Shaw to meet Finch, who shows that Cole and she were their numbers. However, she is distrustful and does not want to stay with Reese and Finch. Now she is seeking revenge against Wilson.

"Relevance" is an excellent episode of "Person of Interest", where the viewer learns who deal with the relevant numbers from The Machine. Sam Shaw is as lethal as John Reese, but working for the government. Hersh returns, as expected, and Reese should have killed him when he had the chance. Root is another serious threat to The Machine that is administrated by the dangerous Special Counsel and his men. My vote is nine.

Nice one
abderahmanht16 February 2022
As much as i love this show this episode wasn't the best so far, we have the season's 1 2 episodes finale, and "prisoner's dilemma" plus this episode hasn't had any special twists or turns, i mean a feel good episode certainly but not a 10/10. An 8/9 would be good.

Is this a cartoon?
interestingstuff16 January 2023
In this episode we meet a new character in name Shaw who is basically running in God mode. She has unlimited bullets, unlimited health, unlimited aiming abilities, unlimited stamina and unlimited fighting capabilities. She's basically a combination of Chuck Norris, Reese, God and Rambo combined times 10. I bet she could stop a nuclear ballistic missile with one hand while being blindfolded.

It's fun to watch her but this episode was absurd and cartoony with zero realism. We already have Mr Reese who is literally Batman and we don't need Superwoman running on ultra god mode as well.

Also why does Root keep popping out of nowhere? The most annoying and most unnecessary character of this TV and they keep bringing her back because some idiots seem to like her cartoony character because they think she's supposed to be a copycat of Joker in Batman.

Of course this episode gets a 9.3 on IMDB because most people would rather watch a cartoon than a realistic TV show and this episode gave them what they wanted. These are the same people who give 5-stars to their local McDonald's on Yelp.
