It can't get better than this *Sigh*
A_Voice8 December 2013
Firstly, I am very disappointed as this was the last episode of this series as the show will go off air due to Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm. :'( Now coming to the episode. It was probably the best episode in the series thus far. With strong character development to an enjoyable story, it had everything.

The story of Ashoka's hardships continues and she is put on a trial. She is unable to win anyone's trust except his Master.

This episode not just puts forward a strong story line and climax, but also acknowledges the so called "Jedi are Peacekeepers" aspect of the universe. Like master like Padawan, Ashoka has many traits of Anakin, which is eminent throughout the series. This aspect is also explored in this episode through the understanding level of one for the other. An emotional send off might make you feel a little heavyhearted. As I said, due to strong character development one feels attached towards Ashoka character. Voice acting is top notch.

The series is one of the causality of Disney's takeover of Lucasfilm, thus leaving Maul's story in a cliffhanger and Ashoka's fate remains unknown. Sad indeed.

Direction: Outstanding.

Story/screenplay: Strong and the best of the series.

Music: Breathtaking, new and just amazing.

An awesome send off to the series, a must watch episode.

First Star Wars moment to make me legit cry
Lost_In_Translation_1 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Star Wars is no stranger to big epic moments, favorite characters dying and bombastic musical moments to create some profound emotions. The closest I've come to shedding a tear was the end of The Force Awakens. The ending of this episode had me literally in tears! This story arc might be the best Star Wars story ever told on screen? Don't get me wrong, I love most of the movies and the good ones have some great story telling, but holy crap did this Ashoka on the run arc become something legendary!

The first episode of the arc was solid, but nothing mind blowing. Then the 2nd episode raised the stakes and started the real story of it all. Then the finale really brought it home to make it one of the most moving and best Star Wars stories ever written.

The last two story arcs of this season should go down as two of the top 5 Star Wars stories ever told. The Duchess's death in the previous arc was sad, but didn't get to me as it'd been a while since her and Obi Wan had been together, let alone a while since we saw her last in an episode.

This series Ashoka's been there from the start and the creators did a fabulous job of making her and Anakin's relationship a strong focal point of the show. Which is why it really hurts when the rest of the Jedi so easily remove her from the order. I was 100% on her side choosing not coming back as those Jedi morons shrugged it off as nothing more than a Jedi test and she came back stronger, when it was them who threw her to the mercy of the Republic.

The ending with her and Anakin is extremely heartbreaking and was the only Star Wars moment to make me cry.

There's two more seasons for me to watch, including the new Disney+ one. It will be interesting to see what they do from here on out, though seeing her on the new season's poster kinda spoils it a bit.

By Far The Best Episodes of The Clone Wars
paul-662-37987017 April 2013
The Wrong Jedi, and quite frankly the entire Fate of Ahsoka Tano story arc, are by far the best episodes of The Clone Wars.

The voice acting is amazing. The one problem the Prequel Trilogy had is that the voices showed little true emotion. People spoke flatly. The Wrong Jedi, along with the other three episodes, show true emotion is the voices, and it is so nice to hear it.

The animation is also fantastic, and amazingly realistic. Sure, the characters look animated. But if there is any way to create an animated show, this is the way to do it. For Ahsoka Tano fans like myself, you will enjoy this episode for sure. It is better than any of the movies, easily.

Damn Good Television!

Warning: Spoilers
What I have enjoyed watching through Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and this episode in particular is that it often approaches the show and it's audience in an extremely mature and gripping way. Apart from the occasional 'silly moment' here and there, this series is hard to fault. But this is a review of the episode, and not the actual show, so lets start- To start with, this 4-episode arc has been good. Starting with a bombing of the Jedi Temple, Ahsoka becomes immersed in deeper conspiracy in which someone is trying to frame her upon her discovering a fellow Jedi is betraying them. That alone is a damn good plot, despite the clichéd 'falsely-accused' storyline. This gets better when Ahsoka attempts to escape the Republic's custody, resulting in a brilliant, well-animated chase. Before she escapes, she shares a tender moment with Anakin, who has been forced to pursue her. Ventress then appears on the scene, while at first seeming to only care for the bounty on Ahsoka's head, soon becomes sympathetic to her apparent betrayal by those she trusts. Thats also some pretty hard-hitting stuff - both seemingly 'betrayed' by their respective masters. Ahsoka and Ventress part ways and Ahsoka goes to investigate a warehouse she was told about by her friend Barriss Offee. She is ambushed by a masked assailant pretending to be Ventress, who knocks her into the warehouse as Clones enter and arrest her. Now we get to the Series 5 Finale.

Ahsoka arrested and put before a 'Jedi Tribunal' who elect to cast her out of the Jedi order, despite her protesting her innocence. Firstly, the council are abhorrently quick to judge Ahsoka here, as if they said: 'Well, it is completely contrary to her character, morals, beliefs and breaks apart from what we know of her, and yet... Meh, let's kick her out.' She is then taken before a Republic Court, with Padme' defending, Tarkin prosecuting (who sickeningly relishes in the chance to convict a Jedi) and Judge Palpatine (now voiced by Tim Curry) presiding.

I won't give away any other spoilers, as the story is just to good to ruin. If this story hasn't persuaded you to watch this episode, then the ending will. It is so bittersweet, taking the approach that some things may never be the same. Faith is shaken after justice proves not to be black and white. But when the Council try to justify their actions at the end, they all seem like a group of self-centred idiots who hate to admit they are wrong. While the ending wasn't 'unguessable', the way it played out was truly gripping, possibly heart-breaking, depending on how much you like the characters. The true villain is also surprising, as they have appeared before, though this not the first time the series has disjointed previously established canon - again you will see this when you watch the episode.

For Season 5 of the Clone Wars, it has had it's ups and downs. Say what you like about the first half, but the last half from the pick-up of the Mandalore-Maul Arc to the end are pure entertainment. While still labelled a 'Kids Show' it has displayed a great level of maturity, (thankfully moving away from Jar Jar Binks' ''comedic'' cameos...) This arc has been most enjoyable, and I greatly await a Sixth Series!

Season 5: 7.5/10 Arc (Episodes 17-20): 9/10 Episode 20: 9.5/10

The wrong Jedi indeed...
Trey_Trebuchet22 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I can't say anything else that hasn't already been said. This was without a doubt one of the very best arcs in the entire series and probably one of the best arcs in Star Wars in general. Ahsoka Tano has become one of my favorite characters in Star Wars ever because of this show and this arc in particular, and I haven't even seen seasons 6 and 7 yet as I write this review!

I loved just about everything in this episode. The fight between Anakin and Bariss was great. I did figure out she was more than likely the traitor, but so what? Doesn't at all impact the entertainment or emotional impact of this story. Seeing Anakin show her up in front of the younglings was very satisfying.

I was 100% on board with Tano leaving the order. The Jedi Council has never been perfect and it really shows through their arrogance in trying to call this whole mess a trial instead of fully admitting they could have been more reasonable. It's absolutely infuriating.

Finally, the last conversation between Ahsoka and Anakin is short and devastating. I almost cried when she said "I know". The story of Anakin is very tragic. To see him slowly lose so much faith in the Jedi Counsel is tragic enough, and now they are part of the reason he is no longer Ahsoka's master.

Great arc, great episode, great characters, great writing, tremendous execution. Definitely one of the best episodes and stories I've ever seen in Star Wars.

Warning: Spoilers
What the council did to Ahsoka, was quite obviously wrong we all know that. All those midiclorians and they couldn't tell Ahsoka was telling the truth or at least something was not right? Perhaps Order 66 was the penalty they paid for their disgusting lack of compassion.

Best Star Wars outside of the OT
bneathanaprlmoon1 June 2017
All of Clone Wars is good and worth watching, both on its own merits and as a means of fleshing out the Prequels and giving the characters more compelling motivations. Though Season 5 becomes very hit-or-miss as most of the earlier episodes focus on one-off stories that don't involve the core characters, the finishing arc involving the attack on the Temple and Ahsoka's framing for it is truly an incredible feat of storytelling. I'd not hesitate to put it on par with some of the best episodes of Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad in terms of being well paced, suspenseful, and emotionally resonant. Outside the Original Trilogy, I'd this is Star Wars at its finest, far better than Revenge of the Sith or Force Awakens.

A beautiful and emotional ending to the best season of the show by far.
sulinc13 January 2019
This is Star Wars at it's finest. Real story, real character emotions and arcs, real dialogue. The last shot of this episode alone is better than the entire prequel trilogy. Dave Filoni took these fictional characters and made them real and believable. Season 5 was a rollercoaster, and between this arc and Darth Maul overtaking Mandalore, it was a fantastic ride. I'm giving not only this episode, not only this arc, but the entirety of Season 5, a 10/10, and I think all television shows, not just cartoons, should strive to be as good as this.

BAsically A noir Thats been done before
DuskShadow10 April 2017
OKay so most of Star wars is heavily influenced by dramas and noir and war stories, but this had such a noir detective feel to it, I couldn't help but see everything coming from a few episodes prior to this one.

Everything was to obvious, the exact play had been done across many mediums before, and though I am a fan of the franchise, and it was a touching episode, I saw it all coming. Luckily, there is a 6th and final season that was shortly continued after Lucasfilm was bought by Disney, almost coincidentally so ( almost like palpatines plot roflol).

Still not too shabby though.

Young and Innocent
A_Kind_Of_CineMagic4 October 2020
This is a splendid finale to a great 4 part arc. Each of the 4 episodes is named after an Alfred Hitchcock movie refecting the strong Hitchcockian themes of the storyline. An innocent wrongly accused desperately trying to prove their innocence amidst devious, dark, sinister plots.

Here we get the enthralling climax of the Ahsoka story but with some absolutely heartbreaking turns of events which actually can bring a tear to an old Star Wars fan's eye.

So perfectly done, so powerful and so moving. Truly a superb episode and an essential addition to the lore creating more meaning behind Anakin's actions in Revenge of the Sith.

My rating: 10/10.

Better Than Movies 1-3
assistinriots4 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
A lot of people complained about the childishness of the first season. This story arc more than atones for that. In reality, this story arc shows much greater depth and maturity than I ever expected from this animated series. The Star Wars Universe is so much more captivating when it is not black and white, dark vs light, good vs evil, separatists vs republic. Ventress started out as pure evil, but when she was betrayed by her Sith master, realized how lost she really was. The betrayal arcs of Ventress/Dooku (as well as the rest of Dooku's apprentices, really), and The Jedi Council/Ashoka are frighteningly similar. "Only a Sith deals in absolutes," yet there are countless occasions where the Jedi--and the democracy they align themselves with--are far more guilty of that moral crime.

The Clone Wars was a period which bridges the young naive Anakin to a disillusioned Jedi. His relationship with his Padawan Ashoka demonstrates that disconnect perfectly. (Real spoilers start here.) What happens at the end of the episode arc I feel goes under-looked. Barriss Offee's rant and confession are swept aside, but she is to the Clone Wars what the Weather Underground was to the Vietnam War. Her sentiment is widely shared. Hundreds of thousands should not die over principle disagreements between theirs and foreign governments. She is, nonetheless, misguided in resorting to killing and framing innocents. She received no help from the Sith in achieving her attack and plan, which highlights the gray areas of morality this series is willing to explore.

Finally, while Ashoka certainly feels betrayed by Barriss, she indirectly agrees with some of her sentiments because the real betrayal was done by the Jedi Council. Ashoka had a perfect track record of loyalty and character, but their self righteousness, bureaucratic tendencies, and political malleability led them to abandon her. The Jedi Order doesn't deserve someone as pure as Ashoka. She is not burdened with the same power that the Sith and Jedi masters are. Anakin understands this and lets her go. He doesn't pity her, rather, sensing his own impending fall from grace, he really wishes he could do the same.

Pardon my impending thematic rant, but I think this episode is perhaps the strongest argument that the Jedi are simply not capable of balancing power and discretion. Their pride blinds them to that fact, and they sow the seeds to their own destruction. Remember that the force is a balance between light and dark? Think about how many Jedi there used to be, how ridiculously lopsided battles tend to become in their favor, how much political capital such a small minority hold. The tragic ending of the prequel series is the pendulum swinging back when it had so heavily favored the light.

Heartbreaking!
marveller-6630 December 2020
Truly. There's probably no one who hadn't cried after watching this. The last 3 minutes shifted the whole arc of Star Wars. "If she hadn't left the Jedi order, then she wouldn't have been where she needed to be". Not my words. It's Anakin's words. Remarkable show. An episode to remember.

Its just so great

Warning: Spoilers
This episode blew my mind. The trial and everything was just so great. Bariss was so unexpected to do it because of the tank episode but why she does the attack, the reason behind it is so deep and Ahsoka leaves. I don't know why, maybe because she has a lot of stress and needs some space. Also the Jedi council members were so proud of her, but Bariss's words are so impactful to me as a Star Wars fans, like what if the Jedi are warriors, not peacekeepers now.

Greatest episode. Thanks Dave Filoni and George Lucas.

I'm so speechless from this episode, I can barely write a review for it. This is definitely the best episode so far. It has the perfect balance of action, drama, and heartbreakingly amazing music, dialogue, cinematography and pretty much everything which is included in the episode. Including every piece of star wars media i've ever seen, this is probably my favorite.

Magnificent!!
davisjustis11 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What a finale! What an arc! What a SHOW! I was blown away by the execution and drive of the last four episodes of this season. Sure, there were obvious hints that Barriss was the true criminal behind the attacks on the Jedi temple. This is a standard layout of an episode on Law and Order, but it was executed to perfection.

This show, from the very beginning has done a fantastic job of character development, specifically in Ashoka (who is now my favorite Star Wars character) and Anikin. Watching the the bright eyed Ashoka, eager and impatient to learn the ways of Jedi close Anikin's hand in refusal of returning to the Jedi order, truly brought me to tears.

Also, supported by a brilliant film score composed by Kevin Kiner, I was at the edge of my bed watching the final moments of Anikin and Ashoka. We haven't heard music like this in the entire show and you could feel a difference in the last four episodes. The subtle variation of the "Skywalker" theme adds so much depth to the beautiful cinematography of the last conversation with Ashoka just outside of the Jedi temple. I replayed it so many times.

Finally, I am just beyond happy with this season in its entirety and I'm looking forward to the next two seasons.

What an ending!
starix-3962617 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Everything is on point in this final episode of the arc. The music, storytelling, characters, dialogue, EVERYTHING.

It is very sad to think that if the council would've trusted her from the beginning making her stay, Anakin maybe wouldn't have turned to the dark side. Ahsoka is after all like a daughter to him - a younger, very alike version of him.

The whole arc leading up to this final episode (and the ending!!), you just feel empty and sad inside. But that IS a good thing, it just shows well the story is written. And of course the whole story of Padawan Tano and Master Anakin's adventures leading up to this was very emotional at least for me.
