Who is working with whom?
Tweekums17 February 2013
Warning: Spoilers
As the series approaches its conclusion we finally learn what the grand conspiracy is all about; fearing torture Letts explains that the Russian Flu vaccine is actually designed to sterilise ninety to ninety five percent of the population. The Network believes that the only way for humanity to survive is to drastically reduce the ever increasing population! Becky and Ian are horrified but Wilson sees some logic in the idea. Ian and Becky then take the vaccine to Milner but aren't sure about whether or not she can be trusted. While this is going on Jessica and Arby are heading to retrieve the manuscript and Dugdale is trying to make a deal that will get him and his family out of danger permanently.

This, the penultimate episode, provided some important answers without letting us know who exactly we could trust; even the protagonists could end up working for the bad guys due to various pressures they are under. The cast continue to perform well and the director has filmed the action in a way that gives everything a slightly unreal look; this nicely heightens the sense that things aren't what they should be. The only real disappointment is knowing that there is only one episode left!

Threads are starting to weave themselves a merry, merry tapestry.

The plot starts to reveal itself as we see just how far down the "rabbit" hole goes. Amazingly dense storytelling.. Not a wasted moment. Literally every scene and every single camera angle is a set piece and has meaning and import.

It is like we are watching a series of films, not a Channel 4 drama.

This is textbook on how to create atmosphere and suspense.

Which alone would have made a great series. But this show goes the whole nine yards: the antagonists and protagonists are some of the best written and most dysfunctionally brilliant characters I have ever had the privilege of watching.

The casting is absolutely perfect and their acting is top-tier! You just can't help investing yourself in the plights of everyone caught up in this tragic tale. And even though you know it's likely not going to end well, you can't help rooting for them all.

Even the antagonists' situation is seemingly plausibly-understandable and I wouldn't be surprised if many in the audience suddenly swapped allegiance, this episode.

I know that I, for one, and now sitting on the fence with bated breath, wondering how this is going to turn out.
