(my wife upon us finishing this movie): "Its things like this that keep a marriage together."
Quinoa198420 August 2016
Somehow the director and sometimes actor David Winter of SPACE MUTINY (one of the hallowed classics in Mystery Science Theater 3000 lore) was unfrozen from his peaceful cryogenic sleep and was tasked in 2015 to make a dopey Step Up style dance movie. Lo and behold he concocts the kind of material that lucid nightmares are made of: ADR that would make Tommy Wiseau cringe, acting where it seems like Winter drank up their personalities to the point that the actors appeared like pod people out of a 1950s movie (which I might add Winter may have acted in!) and dancing which, while Im sure a little better than I can do, is still at best laughably funny and at worst a cacophony of off styles and choppy editing (ooh the climax ooh).

In other words, Winter may have topped himself from his Mutiny days; this is shockingly inept and terrible, a movie that might be simply forgettable crap if not for the fact that it got an *actual theatrical release on more than 100 screens* (though it somehow missed the missile silo known as Rotten Tomatoes). It features all of the separate elements that are part of what makes a movie a "movie"- romance, spectacle, location (Panama City and if you don't get that's where this is don't worry a montage will show you), choreography (in a matter of speaking), "humor", uh, ladies on stilts walking around a lobby, a token black bellhop who dances whenever someone he talks to walks off screen)- but its as if the cook putting this stew together hit his head on solid concrete and then threw it all on to a final cut pro time-line and said 'eh ***k it." This is a The Room level disaster.

I almost wish I could go into all of the things that make this so awful but simultaneously uproariously monumentally wall shatteringly funny but you got to see (and hear) the miasma to believe it. This group of Community theater dance players (with a forgotten Z level action hero as the strangely one dimensional "fighter" cum hotel owner father of the girl who falls for the - gasp - dishwasher dancer at the hotel he runs and the father cant stand the double gasp she may like him!) is among the least talented and pushed to less than zero degrees.

Oh and not to mention all of the super on the nose songs and things like the guy who goes through the pains of love (hint the hotel owners daughter is forced into a relationship with a preppie manager at the hotel) having an ANGRY DANCE ACROSS THE CITY MONTAGE! Or how people randomly, in this surreal candy-colored-clown-surreal landscape break out into dancing and food fights and the lighting looks like it's by a guy who's never thought about things like a THREE POINT LIGHTING set, oh, nevermind.

The key thing is this is sincere, and because of that it commits to its worldview which is 100% banana-pants. It deserves to be discovered and have midnight screenings in major cities with people cosplaying as minor characters in the darn thing. Its the stuff cult classic is made of... And its so bad.

Yes, but . . .
Tug-330 December 2021
Yes, it's a TERRIBLE movie, made watchable through the lens of RiffTrax. But it's worth observing that the dancers are fantastic, particularly Chehon Wespi-Tschopp, who has a few moments to shine. The soundtrack, script, acting, sound design, etc., etc., are just awful, but the main actors have some charisma and are exceptional dancers. As a friend observed, it's like having Andrea Bocelli sing a Kidz Bop album.

Watch out for random mimes!
Aaron137528 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I only watched this film due to Rifftrax featuring it on their site and riffing it, definitely not the type of movie I would normally watch. I have also been to Panama City and can say it is not that happening of a town, just your typical tourist town; however, I was not there long enough to say whether dancing simply breaks out on the streets...this did not happen while I was there. The film has some good dancing though, but the acting at times is horrible making me think that for some of the scenes James Nguyen from Birdemic fame guest directed as his direction of "do not act like a human being would" was in full effect. Still, the girl who played Jennifer was very cute and seeing her brightened up my day!

The story, rich girl leaves Beverly Hills to live with her estranged father who lives in Panama City. She, for reasons unknown to me, is in awe of this tourist trap which is literally a redneck teen party town. Her father owns a hotel where everyone randomly dances and no one seems to get any work done, where dishwashers dance and fall in love with girls who spy them across the room and where the girl's father would never want his daughter to date a dishwasher, but tries to hook her up with the head bellboy... Well, everything is okay as there is a huge dance contest coming up which is sure to bring everything together!

There are no real stars in this one, as I only recognized one guy from Santa's Summer House. That being said, the girl playing Jennifer is about the cutest girl ever and I can understand falling for her, but you know, after meeting her and such. Of course, that being said, I was still kind of pulling for the other couple to win the dance off...

So, you get montages, dancing, dancing montages and strange stories of helicopter explosions! We have so much dancing that is on that one begins to wonder if it will ever shut off! You also get some really stiff acting in the non dancing segments of the film, so while that one girl is super cute, she cannot save this film from being rather bad...

So bad. So so bad.
saintruthanne5 July 2016
This movie gets a 3 only because the actors (if you can call them that) can dance really well. The dancing was fun to watch. That's it for the good stuff.

The acting. Where to begin? So wooden and awful! This movie seemed like a parody that a late night comedian would put out...it was laughably bad. Including the part where Ken, the main actor, said "I just need some SPACE right now!" Wow. High School Musical and Step Up were INFINITELY better than this movie, and that is saying something. The main girl, Whitney Carson, was not so bad, but everyone else, from her dad to the "Captain," we're just weak.

Dancing, dancing everywhere!
BrianDanaCamp4 November 2015
DANCIN' IT'S ON (2015) is amateurish on most levels and boasts some of the worst acting I've seen on the big screen in decades, but it has crude charm and a consistent vitality that I found quite endearing and loads of fun. It's set in an alternate universe (identified on screen as Panama City Beach, Florida) where random people break out into spontaneous dance numbers at all hours of the day at the drop of a hat. What's not to love? The hoary plot has to do with a rich girl who loves to dance staying at her father's hotel for the summer who falls in love with a dishwasher who's a great dancer while her disapproving father has lined up his snotty protégé as the intended suitor for her, leading to all sorts of class conflict clichés that went out of favor decades ago. All this is just an excuse for two things: a steady stream of dance numbers and frequent infomercial spots extolling the virtues of Panama City Beach as a tourist resort. That's actually not a bad trade-off, especially since it leads to an exhilarating dance finale at the Florida Statewide Dance Contest where true love wins out and competing couples dance their hearts out.

Witney Carson, from the TV show, "Dancing with the Stars," plays the lead character, Jennifer, and she's awfully cute and a skilled dancer even if her line readings sound like...well, line readings! Her co-star, with the unwieldy name of Chehon Wespi-Tschopp, actually puts some effort into creating his character, Ken, the dishwasher-dancer, and deserves some props for trying, even if some acting lessons are still in order. He hails from the show, "So You Think You Can Dance." The other young performers are noticeably lacking in charisma, although the dreadlocked Russell Ferguson, also from "So You Think You Can Dance," brings abundant good cheer and punctuates the proceedings with trademark arm and hand moves from the "Electric Boogie" school of dance that flourished 30 years ago. He plays the youthful but all-knowing hotel doorman, known as "the Captain," and shows up as the MC at the big dance contest.

My favorite sequence finds poor Jennifer, brooding after a breakup, sitting alone on a bench on a darkened shopping street in downtown Panama City Beach at night, suddenly interrupted by a row of SUVs turning on their lights and a Latin band, complete with percussion section, suddenly appearing to perform while a hundred dancers descend on the street to execute a highly-choreographed number into which they pull the awestruck Jennifer. Now THAT's an alternate universe I can enjoy.

The only name actors in it are Gary Daniels, an English martial arts performer known to me from FIST OF THE NORTH STAR (1995) and THE EXPENDABLES (2010), who plays Jennifer's father, and David Winters, renowned for playing A-rab, one of the Jets in WEST SIDE STORY (1961). Winters also co-wrote, produced and directed the film. He appears as an elderly hotel resident who reveals his dance background to the young leads at a crucial moment and offers his assistance as they prepare for the dance contest. At one point, Ken, the dishwasher, looks up Winters' character on the computer and finds an old dance clip of his from a TV show from decades ago. I wish I knew where that clip is from. Winters dedicates the film to Sadie Winters, presumably his mother, "who is up there dancing with the angels," and to Gene Kelly, the legendary Hollywood musical star, who inspired him to take up dance.

I saw the film at a 42nd Street multiplex on a weekday afternoon knowing very little about it beforehand. As far as I know, it didn't even get reviewed. I was the only one in the theater. I attended an advance screening of SPECTRE at the same theater later that day, packed with people, and I can assure you I had more fun with DANCIN' IT'S ON than I did with SPECTRE.

As of this writing, I'm the only one I know who's even heard of this film, let alone seen it. This has all the makings of a cult film, but it needs a way to find its cult. If any film qualifies to be this generation's BREAKIN' 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO, it's this one.

Not Great...
tiffleah7 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I was so excited to watch this movie because Witney Carson is one of my favorite dance pros. I was curious to see how this movie would be because I wasn't sure that she had any acting chops. Well, I can't blame this movie on her. She has some serious dance talent, but the script was so poorly written in my opinion, that no one even had a chance. The dance scenes were your typical run of the mill dance movie scenes, and the dialogue was almost uncomfortable to watch. The story didn't flow very well either. It was so choppy. Hard to follow. At one time the father is trying to keep his daughter away from the dishwasher by getting her to date the head bell boy, and they within a few minutes he accepts it like nothing was ever said between them. Very strange story and hard to follow. The two positive things I can say though were that the dance scenes were colorful and cheerful, and even though Witney didn't need any exposure because she is so popular already due to DWTS, it gets the casts names out there for other potential roles.

Panama Sunrise

Oooohhhh a truly terrible movie that I watched to play along with the "How Did This Get Made" podcast. Despite its director being a 50 year veteran of many aspects of the movie industry, but most famously as a choreographer, the film is truly hopeless and I've seen pornography with more convincing acting.

Jennifer (Witney Carson) spends the summer at her father's luxury hotel in Panama City, Florida. The hotel has an odd policy of attracting performers of various disciplines, which appeals to Jennifer as she is a dancer. On her first night she meets Ken (Chehon Wespi-Tschopp), a general dogsbody at the hotel, but who dancing wins admiration. Ken and Jennifer fall in love, much to the disapproval of her father, who prefers preppy Danny (Matt Marr).

Of all the negative points that the film has, the most noticeable is the ADR work. It feels like a foreign film, except it isn't and I'm assuming everyone is ADR'ing their own performance, but there's no life to any of the delivery. Each staccato sentence spoken like the performer was tortured into saying them. To be fair, very few of the performers seem to have been cast for their acting ability. Rather than making actors dance, the decision appears to have been made to make dancers act. Indeed, Witney Carson never acted again, but made her way to "Dancing with The Stars" and both she and Wespi-Tschopp appear to have gotten their starts on another dancing talent show.

There are plenty of other problems with the film though. From acres of stock footage, never more apparent than during the dance competition at the end; the public staring at the camera as we drive endlessly around the high spots that Panama City has to offer; or the general plot - lifted from "Dirty Dancing" but with a bit of any of those "Step Up" films.

Did I hate it though, or did I find it amusingly terrible? With the exception of the last twenty minutes, mostly the later. I'm sure going to enjoy what the HDTGM team make of it.

Bad acting
zaineegirl20 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This is a very...interesting movie, to say the least. The only reason I made it to the end was because I liked the storyline and the dancing. Other than that this wasn't a very good movie.

The acting seemed very forced and robotic. It was like the actors were afraid to act. A lot of them seemed really stiff, as if they weren't aloud to move anything but their mouth. The way they said their lines was so unrealistic. They were just reciting the words from their script. They weren't engaging with their characters.

The camera work in this movie was extremely amateurish and choppy. This contributed to a movie that didn't flow well. There was also issues with shallow depths of field (only a small area in focus) and shots that were too sharp. The whole thing reminded me of a soap opera, with everything being very sharp and clean.

I think the music in this movie was exceptional. Every time there was music it fit the mood very well. A lot of upbeat music that had a real coastal vibe.

One scene that comes off as very stupid is when Ken is dancing around because he's mad at Jennifer. I think this scene displayed his inner feelings. I see it as more of a metaphor than a literal anger driven dance through a hotel's property. That's my opinion. Actually, I think the whole movie portrays the idea of "dancing what you feel"

Well, at least the dancing is good
Java_Joe20 November 2017
There is something to be said about non-actors acting. And that's they should never under any circumstances be actors. The acting in this movie as atrocious. And when it's not atrocious, the AVR is. Seriously it's like half the lines in this movie are recorded after the fact and just spliced into the movie like that. This is not acceptable. This is why boom mikes were invented.

The story itself is pretty unoriginal. Pretty & rich girl who dances has to go live with her father in Panama City for the summer. There, people break into dance all the time and the hotel seems to be a portal into a world where people act out scenes from movies, quote Shakespeare, walk around on stilts and dance. All the time.

There she meets the handsome dishwasher who also dances. At least that's where he normally works because we see him having to clean up rooms as well. Don't ask, it makes no sense but it allows them to introduce this old man who plays a part in the movie later.

There's trouble brewing because one of the managers at the hotel also has his eye on the girl and it turns into a thing between him and the dishwasher guy. This manager also dances I might add. I think everybody in Panama City does or is implied to in this movie.

We're introduced to a fourth member who is also a dancer and the dance partner of dishwasher boy. There's supposed to be some kind of chemistry there but I can't see any.

Typical plot is as follows. Daddy wants his daughter to date the manager guy but she's rather date the dishwasher guy. His dance partner also wants to date the dishwasher guy so we have both guys wanting the rich girl. And both girls wanting the dishwasher guy.

Lots of dancing follows, third act breakup, they get back together and practice for the big dance contest. The old man turns out to be an old dance instructor and helps with their choreography. Of course, what else is there? Rich girl and dishwasher guy wind up together. And the manager and the other girl do as well, or maybe they're just dance partners. I'll admit by this point I wasn't paying much attention.

But as I said. At least the dancing is good. The rest of the movie is just wretched. So unless you just want to see some dancing, don't bother with this one.

A Hilariously Awful film.
Agent105 September 2022
It's pretty cool what we have done with artificial intelligence these days. When you ask a computer to make a script for a film about dancing, it's pretty amazing how it could come up with something....wait, what was that? This was written by a person? You mean this was a serious project not some weird attempt at proving A. I. is sentient? Wow. Just wow.

Okay, that changes the tone of this review severely. I mean, I was under the impression that the tourism council of Panama City-in conjunction with other contributors--used an A. I. to make the strangest tourism video ever made. But this was made with legitimate intentions? Well, I am at a loss to continue with this review. I mean, this movie was awful. Just outright awful.

I will say this, it was a pretty good "awful" movie. The dance scenes were fun to watch. The women were largely attractive. The great Gary Daniels is in this film. I mean, It has the goods to be thrown into the pantheon of one of the greatest bad films of all time. If The Room is Citizen Kane, Champagne and Bullets is The Rock and Birdemic is The Birds....then this one has to be akin to Hello Dolly or Guys and Dolls. I don't know, you decide what the good movie equivalent is to it.

Anyway, I have to go to my computer. If this poorly written film can be made, then the bad ideas kicking around in my noodle should also be cogent and sincere.

Good dancing, bad acting.
PleaseReadTheBookFirst25 September 2017
Every single line in the movie sounds like it was done via ADR! The acting is wooden and amateurish. The plot is a rehash of every other love story from the "wrong side of the tracks", and it's not even a good love story. Even the costuming is basic! At least the dancing is good... But, if the only good thing I can say is that the dancing is good, then it's not a very good movie...

Sad, but true... worst movie of the year.
tles714 September 2022
It's obvious that the viewers who gave the film a "10" were likely friends of people involved with the film or actors in the film. The film is so terrible that you can only shake your head and laugh out loud. RiffTrax does it up quite well. I am sure it was created with love and good intentions but it is painful in every aspect...from the acting, to the ridiculous story and atmosphere. You often find yourself saying "You have got to be kidding me". Seems like they were trying to bring us an old fashioned romance film but it was just an inept attempt. The dancing is OK, but to be honest, the film is such a drag that it's hard to have the dancing come off as outstanding. It just feels like it's part of the mess.

You will believe that a $12M dance movie filled with attractive people can be unwatchable
lemon_magic13 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
David Winters once again works his anti-magic on a potentially interesting (if derivative) story idea. The results are...quite cheesy and tone-deaf.

A large part the problem comes from decision to cast dancers who are not actors in major speaking parts, while the rest comes from Winters' (and his writers') inability or unwillingness to grasp the emotional core of whatever "good" film they are currently aping, or to match its art direction and design.

I've nothing against the female lead, really.. I'd probably decide she was quite attractive if I encountered her in person. But on screen she's a black hole who sucks the energy out of any scene with dialog. It appears that a huge chunk of her dialog is dubbed or ADR'd.

Furthermore, she's so "made up" and perfectly tanned that she seems to have been dipped in lacquer. The net effect is to make her look like a Barbie doll, not a dancer. Weirdly, she also seems somewhat soft and heavy for the part - although admittedly well within "normal" variations. Please note that I'm not going to do any "body shaming" here, but obviously the film makers felt the same way; notice the odd, pleated cut of many of her outfits, obviously meant to hide her figure flaws.

Her actual dancing is fine...but when she isn't dancing, she doesn't even WALK convincingly.

And the character is such a child of privilege that it's impossible for me to identify with or even like her.

The male lead is somewhat better, but his character is an idiot who isn't believable for a second. As proof, I offer his ridiculous and risible "rage dance" sequence. No human being in the history of the world has ever done this. Well, Michael Jackson probably did, but he's a special case.

I know this movie is supposed to be a fantasy, existing in its own world, like a Hallmark Movie Channel special. It doesn't matter. Winters and his screenwriter throw all kinds of spectacle and attractive people up on the screen for background and color...but even the extras and supporting cast are brought down by the complete lack of soul or grit, and are further hampered by bizarrely ineffective editing, art direction, and camera work.

I should note that Winters himself appears in a supporting role in his own movie. He was a dancer early in his career, with an impressive gig ("West Side Story") to his credit. So in this thing, he's the guru/mentor with a tragic backstory who dispenses Zen bromides about dance to our heroes. While he has charisma, he's as bad as everyone else. His dancing is fine - he's still admirably loose and fluid, although he appears so old and frail that I feared he might pull a ligament. But however earnest and reflective of his deepest beliefs his character might be, he's flat as a pancake. I felt bad for him.

You could do worse than watch this movie. And whatever else you say about it, it's cheerful and sunny. People who uncritically love dance movies in any form will probably never notice its problems. But for the rest of us, it's such a misfire that you'll probably not be able to finish it.

If you like dance, this is for you
ddunham161-773-97611916 July 2016
I have become especially fond of dance after many years of working at a university and learning many of the nuances of good dance. With that said, I would just guess that anyone who would not like this movie, simply doesn't like and appreciate the incredible art forms of dance displayed in this movie. Some of the acting was a little amateurish, yes, but let's be real, this is more about dance than acting. The storyline is very predictable, but but hey, what's wrong with boy meets girl. Especially, Richgirl and poorboy. Getting back to the dance, it was exciting, and truthfully I didn't want the movie to end Whitney Carson and Chehon were fantastic. Chehon had more energy and movements than I've seen of any male dancer. Some compare this to dirty dancing. Well clearly the budget for dirty dancing was higher, but not the talent. Chehon could dance circles around any of the cast for that movie Whitney stayed with him and had some moves of her own highly recommend if and only if you have an appreciation for dance.

A fun and delightful film
Mary_ann241213 July 2016
If you like fun and dancing with a cute romantic story, this is a great little film for you! This was a fun escapism, put-a-smile-on-your face kind of entertainment, filled with lots of happy and young dancers competing for the grand prize. Sure the acting is not top Hollywood style, but it suits this kind of film. As it was directed and co-written by dance veteran David Winters, who appeared in "West Side Story" and choreographed Ann-Margret and Nancy Sinatra TV specials, I was expecting the low-budget production to be a lot better. Unfortunately it is not the kind of film that would be good enough for a theatrical release, but it is certainly worth a watch!

Dancing International Pictures! The David Winters and David A. Prior Grand Finale!
ellisandre5 September 2016
I have to unfortunately start with with the Grand Finale due to the passing of David A. Prior, who thankfully with his long time collaborator David Winters, could provide us with one last treat to remember.

For those familiar with the catalog of the film company named AIP, this one is an unusual one. It's a dance film instead of an action picture. What's cool about it, is that you get a David A. Prior script in another genre. I also note that it is the only script David A. Prior wrote that David Winters directed. The acting of the lead actors and story development has a lot of AIP films elements that one with the fondness of these films would love. For this they get a ten out of ten. I really appreciated the great moments AIP provided us, it's a perfect conclusion to the David Duo. David A. Prior thank you very much for this last treat, and David Winters bring on more.

What is fun with David Winters directing is that when he is offered the task that he digs best for elements to make a film unique, to be packaged within a genre. In my opinion you can see this in his films "Alice Cooper: Welcome to my Nightmare", "The Last Horror Film", and "Thrashin'". The story take place in an hotel where everyone is an artist. Hence, aside from the dancers turned actors, he takes the time to hire other artists, a mime, acrobats, gymnasts to create atmosphere. So we have unusual situations compared to the usual "Boy meet girl" type of film. I've always appreciated that with his directing style. It is obvious that Winters made that film because he had immediate distribution, and had to do a cliché riddled story about dancing. However it shows that David Winters still does his best with what he's got, packaged it, and made a genuine effort. He also acts in the film and his performance is good.

The film moves along very well and for its target audience it's totally acceptable. The dancing is great, and the music fits the film. The performances of dancers/actors Russell Ferguson, Matt Marr, and Jordan Clark stand out compared to the leads. Action actor Gary Daniels plays a part and does a good job. I bash the two leads but without them the AIP feel wouldn't stand out.

My final thoughts are, it's a stellar AIP movie grand finale you can watch with your family. Dance films are not my type, but it moves along fast and never bores you. I think people who don't know the AIP history and the target audience of this film would find it at least passable and maybe better.

The last film by the David duo it is truly appreciated. Good bye David Prior thanks again for the entertainment, and I hope David Winters directs another film, it's always a fun ride.

Loved Dancin' It's On!
KaycieLee5 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
DANCIN' IT'S ON is a delightfully engaging Film; a modern day 'Dirty Dancing' feel that takes place in a lush resort in Panama City FL. The cinematography in the film was clean, well thought out and executed. The strong points were choreography, music score, the feel good fairly-tale plot and the randomness of DANCE outbursts used to breakthrough moments of emotional turmoil. Most admirable was how Director David Winters stayed true to this BEAT throughout!

Jennifer, played by Grand Prize 'Winner of Dancing With The Stars' Witney Carson was sweet & likable in her lead role. She is vivacious on the dance floor, never missing a step and is the 'ideal' vision one would have of a Wealthy Daddy's, coming-of-age, little princess. She was the perfect choice to star in this tale of star-crossed lovers. She also had a story of pain, abandonment and I did find myself wanting to know more about these aspects of her so that I could relate more intimately. Her on-screen Dad's reaction to finding out that she would ultimately be in the contest with Ken, the lowly hotel dishwasher was not shown. I found myself wondering about this which left some, I suppose, to the imagination.

Jennifer's love interest, Ken is portrayed by 'So You Think You Can Dance' Grand Prize Winner, Chehon Wespi-Tschopp. Hands down he carried his first feature film with the utmost star presence! His efforts at character development were commendable and the believability of his performance was remarkably consistent. I felt I could totally connect to his emotional experiences in a realistic way & I wanted him, the underdog, "Cinderella" to find LOVE and to most of all WIN what his heart was longing for... whatever that was... His dance moves WON my little girl heart!

David Winter's authentic portrayal of Hal was enjoyable. He consistently did not disappoint as the legendary, Veteran performer & artist he is. Hal's life as a PTSD-stricken recluse who is getting on in years... but also a man who never lost the dance that beats in his own heart despite the tough guy exterior was in my opinion perfectly conveyed.

The best character for me without a doubt was 'The Captain' played by Russell Ferguson. He is an irreplaceable icon at the hotel entrance- way. His charisma and magic result in a very captivating performance. I found myself cheering when he FINALLY broke out in a FULL dance routine during the dance off. I wanted to get up there on stage, let go and dance my heart out. It is impossible not to lose oneself in the exuberance of this cinematic experience.

David Winters has made a full career in showbiz from his start on Broadway and film in the best musical ever made; West Side Story. 60 plus years as a producer/director/choreographer has not stopped him from always delivering the goods. Dancin' - It's On! is his latest and best film of his career.

The movie is a cinematic event that I was hoping to see on the big screen, and my local multiplex just happened to provide me with an hour and a half of pure entertainment. Dancin'-It's On is a confection, a box of candy on screen, sweet and familiar. A schmaltzy storyline that is right out of the 60's, a modern fairytale with the princess and the pauper romance with all the trimmings including a noble footman, a fairy godfather, a hard head king and a beautiful castle filled with clowns and mimes and dancers. Set in Panama City, Florida at a lush resort, let the movie be!

Winters has made an energetic and wildly fun dance picture with beautiful new talent, giving himself a plum role of the saintly godfather who teaches the young and handsome leads to win the big dance off. Action Icon Gary Daniels is the unwilling hotel magnate father who won't stand for it. Clichés are all here, but the fun part of this movie is it's nostalgic charm in a fresh package.

Little things make this movie fun, like a concierge spouting Shakespeare, a doorman named Captain who pops into dance with everyone he greets. A recreation of the "fun day out" sequence from "Viva Las Vegas" (Winters taught Elvis to dance in that), "the angry dance" from Footloose, and a show stopping street dance right out of a Jerome Robbins play. Witney Carson is a cherubic young princess and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp as the dishwasher with all the right moves. Dazzling editing and scenic shots really work well, but the dancing is everything in a musical and this is a great showcase for talented people. Even Winters get to bust a move!

Make time to see it in a theater and have a fun time. Enjoy!
