In the holiday season, the popular Christmas music canon can start to feel pretty repetitive. Backstage offers some classic, odd, or unappreciated alternative listening options for the musical theater lover. Alan Menken’s “A Christmas Carol” (1995 Original Broadway Cast Recording)This classic Dickens tale is a holiday tradition and sometimes a “bah humbug” bugaboo. Alan Menken, the composer of Disney reputation, has a brilliantly composed (and underappreciated) score to the iconic ghost story. The cast recording is wildly melodramatic—which makes it all the more fun to listen to! Some favorite numbers include “Nothing to Do With Me,” “Mr. Fezziwig’s Annual Christmas Ball” (which has a similar vibe to Menken’s “Topsy Turvy” in Disney’s “Hunchback”), and a lovely duet and reprise called, “A Place Called Home.” This recording is highly recommended for road trips to inspire ridiculous lip-syncing. Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” (2008 Original Broadway Cast Recording...

Looks like it's going to be business as usual for Angelina Jolie this Thanksgiving holiday.
Et spoke to Jolie's divorce lawyer, Laura Wasser, on Thursday at the 23rd anniversary celebration of A Place Called Home (Apch) -- a South Central Los Angeles-based organization providing a safe haven and programs to improve the lives of underserved youth -- where she was honored for her contributions. The celeb attorney gave us an update on Jolie's Thanksgiving plans.
"I'm going to imagine that she's going do what most of us are doing, which is spending it with her family," Wasser told Et's Kevin Frazier exclusively.

Chelsea Handler has never been one to keep her not-so-friendly opinions about Angelina Jolie a secret.
Thursday night was no exception, when the 41-year-old comedian honored Jolie's divorce lawyer, Laura Wasser, at the 23rd anniversary celebration of A Place Called Home (Apch) -- a South Central Los Angeles-based organization providing a safe haven and programs to improve the lives of underserved youth. Handler praised Wasser's efforts for the charity, but also took a shot at her client's headline-making split from Brad Pitt.
"She's very dynamic, she's very principled, and she's a very accomplished human being," Handler said of Wasser. "And she's such a humanitarian, that she's currently negotiating Brad Pitt's emancipation, so ..."

[[tmz:video id="0_doiwrevc"]] Chelsea Handler absolutely burned Angelina Jolie, Mel Gibson and other saps who've been on the opposite side of the divorce table from Hollywood's Disso Queen ... all in the name of children and charity. Chelsea intro'd celeb divorce attorney Laura Wasser Thursday night at an event called Gala For The Children, which raised money for A Place Called Home. Stevie Wonder and Gavin Rossdale also performed ... but Chelsea was the standout. She lists some of Laura's...

While Thanksgiving is right around the corner, Gavin Rossdale says he's going to be working, while his ex-wife, Gwen Stefani, spends the holidays with their three children.
"It's not my year [to have the kids], so I'll be in London doing [The Voice U.K.], because I'm a coach," Rossdale told Et at the A Place Called Home Gala in Los Angeles on Thursday. "I commute. When I don't have my kids, I go to London."
