One of the first things you are told in any screenwriting workshop is write what you know. I was going to use the medium of storytelling to explore what I didn’t know and go on wild rides developing fantastical stories, adventures that I could only dream of.
My first feature length film was Turjya, which was about a man who wants to be immortal. The filming took us to the far corners of India; from Kanchenjunga to Jaisalmer. We hitched rides on trucks, got into trouble everywhere we shot and generally had a big crazy adventure and we were hooked. Filmmaking was crazy fun and we wanted more of it.
