Hits and Misses
Hitchcoc22 October 2021
There are occasional sparks in this one. Two events are taking place simultaneously. First, the guys have set up a Christmas Dungeons and Dragons evening. Leonard makes it an effort to save Santa Claus from ogres. The girls decide to have a night out. Since Rag's character was killed in the game, he joins them. There wasn't enough here to make it memorable.

The Christmas Vicegrip

This had to be the funniest episode of BBT I've ever seen. We watched it a good 4 more times On Demand over the Christmas holiday we found it so funny. Sheldon and the guys include Stuart in a 'guys night out' playing Christmas D&D. While the girls decide to have their own 'night out'. In a few uncanny twists of fate, Raj goes with the girls, Amy becomes jealous of Raj, Sheldon does NOT save Santa, and the whole D&D game nearly goes to pieces when we get another glimpse of a very interesting bit of Sheldon's history that finally allows Sheldon to show a bit of emotion over someone lost long ago. The entire family loves quoting the last line of the episode as said by Santa Claus! A brilliant episode to the lackluster 6th season, hope Stuart becomes a regular. Now if they can just find a girl for Raj... could Amy be the girl for Raj?

"The Santa Simulation" was a great holiday ep of "The Big Bang Theory"
tavm26 December 2012
In this Christmas ep of "The Big Bang Theory": It's Dungeons & Dragons night so Amy-who wanted to come but wasn't invited, Bernedette-who wanted Howard to spend that night with her, and Penny-ditto with Leonard, are by themselves but Stuart is allowed to join Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, and Raj for the game. Raj, however, gets eliminated early so he joins the girls on their night out at the bar. Oh, and Leonard has decided to have the game involve Christmas characters so Santa Claus has been added to the chagrin of Sheldon. We find out why later on. I'll stop there and just say this was another great ep of "TBBT" especially when Sheldon sings a Christmas song. With all the verses. Oh, and wait till you see the ending! Really, all I'll say now is "The Santa Simulation" was one really hilarious holiday ep of this show...

The Santa Simulation

Again, another BBT episode that felt like the Christmas element was tacked on because the network asked them to do a festive one.

I much preferred the Raj storyline to the one involving Sheldon and the gang. All the subtle poignancy about his loneliness was well written and played.

Fine, but not great overall.

Warning: Spoilers
Leonard helps Penny to get her apartment ready for Christmas and he is able to do it only coming away with a paper cut. He is spending a Saturday night with the guys playing dungeons and dragons. Sheldon also tells Amy he is playing but she cannot join in. All the men tells the girlfriends they are going to playing this game and Raj even invites Stewart. Sheldon is given a Christmas present by Leonard but he does not really like the holiday. He is given a scroll that tells him of the task for the dungeons and dragons game. It doesn't end well because the game will involve a Christmas theme. Sheldon is not happy but everyone else plays along in the game. Raj is kicked out of the game quickly and tries to plead to get back into the game. Penny then disturbs the game by making the girls walk in their sexiest clothes for the men. The girls go out drinking so Raj decides to tag along with them. The girls decide to find Raj a girl but he does not seem to want to meet anyone. Raj then sets out his rules but it just turns out that he will accept any women. The guys continue there game and Sheldon has to sing a song to stop the walls coming in. Sheldon of course continues to sing the song so that he can finish it. Raj comes back to the table but the girl did not go for him. Raj then says that he fell for Penny and Bernadette but not Amy. When the girls want him to lie he keeps telling the truth not knowing what he is saying. Leonard sees that Sheldon likes Christmas but he really loves Christmas now because his parents did not give him good Christmas's when he was young. Raj and Amy talk about their problems of being alone, they two seem have more in common then Amy has ever had with Sheldon. Sheldon then freezes everyone talking about his problems with Santa. He decides in the game not to save Santa. Sheldon has a dream including Santa and a cannon that was fired at him by the man in red. Funny episode and it was great to see all the characters let lose.

EPISODE GRADE: B (MVP: Kunal Nayyar)

Not my favorite holiday based episode of BBT
Christmas-Reviewer26 May 2019
I Have Reviewed OVER 500 "Christmas Films and Specials". Please BEWARE Of films and specials with just one review! For instance When "It's a POSITIVE" chances are that the reviewer was involved with the production. "If its Negative" then they may have a grudge against the film for whatever reason. I am fare about these films.

This season 6 episode was lacking the "Christmas Spirit". I honestly think they just "Added" the Christmas element because they needed a holiday based episode.

In this episode the most boring part is the guys play "Dungeon's and Dragons". The funniest part was Raj and the girls.

Even if this wasn't a holiday episode I would have still not have given it a higher rating. Even with "Santa Claus" being an important part of the frame work of this episode this episode falls flat.
