Sci-fi magic girls!
Tweekums7 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
In the future the world is peaceful and has all the energy it needs thanks to the Manifestation Engine. Akane Isshiki's grandfather Kenjiro was one of the key developers of the engine and he has made many other inventions including the palette suits that gives Akane, and later three of her school friends, the ability to fly and defend the Manifestation Engine when strange entities known as 'The Alone' turn up and try to destroy it. Around the same time Rei Kuroki, another girl turns up, she is working to help the Alone as well as being in Akane's class. When Akane and her friends fight the Alone they use the power of the suits and sometimes even combine to increase their strength and when not fighting they try to become friends with Rei; not knowing that she is fighting against them!

This series is fairly fun with decent characters and an entertaining story; the big problem is that the story and many of the gags seem to be aimed at younger viewers; for example an experiment gone wrong leaves Akane's grandfather inhabiting the body of an otter. That wouldn't be a problem if there weren't so many close-ups of the girls very tight shorts and even the occasional nudity… although nobody should be surprised by that… it does come from the people who brought us 'Strike Witches'; although sadly it isn't as much fun as that series. The girls' power may come from their special suits but this is effectively a magic girl series. Overall I'd say this is worth watching but don't expect anything amazing.
