• Rebekah : [about to interrogate Elena, Stefan, and Caroline]  Class is in session. You've all been compelled, you know the rules. Answer my questions honestly. No disobedience, no one leaves. April, my sweet, take notes. This is how you get answers in this town. Let's start with a little quiz.   Stefan Salvatore : We're done playing your stupid games, Rebekah.

  Rebekah : [insists]  Elena, truth or dare?

  Elena Gilbert : Dare.

  Rebekah : And how do you feel when you're with Stefan?

  Caroline Forbes : [scoffs]  Stop.

  Rebekah : She can't. She's compelled.

  Elena Gilbert : Lately I feel like I'm a project. That I'm a problem that needs to be fixed. I think I make him sad. And I can't be with someone like that, because... when he looks at me, all he sees is a broken toy.

  Rebekah : [smugly satisfied grin]  Do you still love Stefan?

  Elena Gilbert : Yes.

  Rebekah : Are you still in love with Stefan?

  Elena Gilbert : [softly]  No.

  Rebekah : [to Stefan]  Did that hurt? Having someone you love drive a dagger through your heart?

  Stefan Salvatore : Go to hell.

  Rebekah : Did. That. Hurt?

  Stefan Salvatore : Yes.

  Rebekah : Welcome to the last nine hundred years of my life.

• Caroline Forbes : [on phone]  Hey, you just missed the mandatory all-school assembly.

  Stefan Salvatore : That's because I'm at a mandatory all-alone drinking party.

  Caroline Forbes : Seriously? You decided to go on a Ripper bender now?

  Stefan Salvatore : My brother slept with Elena. That kind of puts a little bit of a damper on things.

  Caroline Forbes : First of all, you are not supposed to know that. And second of all, Tyler is already spiraling and he gets priority.

  Stefan Salvatore : His mother just died, what do you expect?

  Caroline Forbes : I'm his girlfriend, I expect him to talk to me. Instead, he's all angry, and it doesn't help everyone referring to his mother's death as an accident, which is really just a polite way of saying that she was drunk.

  Stefan Salvatore : Do you think Klaus killed her?

  Caroline Forbes : I don't think that she drowned in her martini glass. Just... get it together.

  [shakes her head] 

  Caroline Forbes : I can't do it alone.
