Beaten for Nothing

Warning: Spoilers
Naruto is taken by Karui and Omoi to talk about Akatsuki, or that's what he thought. Karui is mad, and pushes him to talk about Sasuke. But Naruto remembers all the good memories of Sasuke, of what Shikamaru said on the retrieve mission, the promise, so he won't tell anything. He also remembers what Nagato said about the justice which is actually revenge that creates the cycle of hate, and what his father said about the hate that the shinobi are facing. In order to stop that cycle, he wants to prevent Sasuke to be killed, so one will avenge him. But Karui doesn't care, and Omoi asks how he is going to compensate their hate, their anger towards Sasuke. Naruto then wants to take it himself, and asks to be beaten to satisfy them. Omoi isn't convinced, but the hothead of Karui is. She starts beating him badly, with anger and madness. Sai watches all this, and decides to stop her. He tells Naruto that he shouldn't take this for Sasuke. Before she tries to hit him too, Omoi stops her, she should know thay beating won't solve anything. He also tells that Naruto is not someone who will sell a colleague, a fellow Konoha villager, and that's a quality he admires. Samui finally arrives, after learning that Naruto was the one who defeated Pain (some villagers said that he deserved to become Hokage). Somehow, she recognizes Naruto, and asks Karui and Omoi if they got in trouble and which information they obtained. Karui now tries to pretend she did nothing wrong, while Omoi simply tells that Killer B must be alive. Samui wants to analyze the information they have, and plan a rescue, she doesn't want to repeat what happened to Yugito (this implies that they searched for her, but they found nothing). Naruto asks her to let him join them, to rescue the jinchuriki, and to have a talk with the Raikage, but given the Kage Summit, Samui tells that won't be possible. Then, the three leave. Naruto asks Sai to take him with Kakashi and Yamato. About this part, honestly it was overall bad. I get Naruto's intentions to stop the cycle of hate, all what Nagato said is true, but this was ridiculous. Not a long time ago, Naruto was insanely furious against Deidara for capturing Gaara, and being responsible for his death. He took the fight against the jinchuriki very personal. And now, though he admitted that it was his fight too, and that he wanted to rescue Killer B, he not only protected Sasuke, he also allowed to be beaten for his crime. This goes beyond common sense. When did Naruto lost his mind? When did he lost his pride, his self respect, self steem? Why Kishimoto would write such stupidity? I can barely accept if Naruto wouldn't tell information about Sasuke, after all, it has nothing to do with Killer B's current status. Besides, Karui couldn't do anything against Sasuke probably. But the beating was pathetic. Naruto passed from the acclaimed hero of Konoha to a shinobi without honor, without self respect, personality. Here he was an hypocrite. How he could accept such beating for a guy who willingly attacked and captured a jinchuriki, a fellow who suffered all what he suffered?. If Sasuke tried to capture Gaara, what would have happened then? Here, the storyline went to the trash. It was totally incoherent, inconsistent, poor writing. And also Karui, what kind of shinobi is she? If she accepts to beat badly someone innocent with such hate and anger, she is an horrible character. If anyone from the village saw what she did, there would be war between Konoha and Kumo. Because she beat the hero of Konoha, the shinobi who saved thousands of lives. No matter her anger or frustration, she was an idiot. Besides, she knew he was a jinchuriki, what would B say if he knew this? That she gave a beaten to a fellow? Omoi at least showed some decency, he knew what was right. This arc really shows the decline of Shippuden.

Then, Sakura is shown in the tent with Shizune, and the asleep Tsunade. She updates her, and Shizune simply says she is sorry. In the meantime, Sai takes Naruto with Kakashi. He doesn't understand why Naruto and Sakura keep getting hurt by what Sasuke does (his opinion is the same of many). Kakashi simply says that he knows Danzo's orders to keep Naruto watched, and asks Sai why he intervened to help Naruto. That's the implied answer, what means to be a teammate. Once inside the tent, Naruto is full on bandages. When Sai suggests to tell Sakura, Naruto refuses, she will get upset if she sees him like this, he doesn't want to trouble her. Still, he thanks Sai for what he did, now he realizes that he didn't want to see him get hurt. He then tells Kakashi and Yamato that he wants to see the Raikage to convince him of forgiving Sasuke (pathetic). Yamato says it's crazy, a bad idea, because Hashirama's necklace was destroyed, and there's no way to stop a transformation if he gets out from Konoha. Besides, Yamato is in charge of the rebuilding and cannot leave. Naruto then explains that the 4th Hokage stopped his transformation during the battle with Pain. They're all surprised, so Kakashi guesses that the 4th sealed part of his own energy the night of his death. This was the most interesting part of the episode. Naruto tells what Minato said, that the masked man of Akatsuki provoked the Kyuubi incident, and that he was the one manipulating Pain. Now, he knows for sure that Tobi is manipulating Sasuke. Kakashi thinks the masked man can only be Madara Uchiha. And remembering his conversation with his own father, he also asks Naruto what else Minato said to him because fathers like talking with their sons. Naruto smiles and says that he believed in him. Yamato is glad, so looks like he already knew that the 4th Hokage was Naruto's father. Sai's expression was hard to read as usual, but I don't think he knew it. Danzo would obey Hiruzen's order to keep it a secret after all. Considering this new information, Kakashi allows Naruto to go to see the Raikage, to Tenzo's dismay. This part of the episode was better, Naruto seemed to realize that what he did was selfish, he didn't think about Sai or Sakura. That's why he thanked him for being a good friend, and asked him not to tell Sakura. Then, I expected a lecture from Kakashi, but instead, he didn't look surprised to see what happened to Naruto, it's like he know how stubborn he can be. The conversation about the 4th Hokage's words, was the best without doubt, Naruto finally got that out, and Kakashi was happy to see that his pupil discovered the truth about his father. Yamato was happy too, it's like Hiruzen's order was a burden, they all guessed that Naruto would have been much more happier on his life if he knew his parents identities. Still, once again I hoped that Naruto would ask Kakashi more about his father, that they could have a longer talk, so he can meet or learn things he doesn't know about him. It could have been much more emotive that way. Then, the idea to see the Raikage is not bad if Naruto plans to tell him everything he knows about Tobi, Akatsuki and Sasuke. But if he intends to ask for forgiveness without giving a context, he is being delusional.

On the other hand, the villains make their moves. Danzo orders his subordinates to capture and eliminate Kabuto before Anko does, he also sent some men to keep her watched. He thinks to himself that Kabuto knows everything about his connection to Orochimaru. He also orders to retrieve files of their experiments, that may help him with his right arm and right eye (gory in the future). To another group, he orders them to keep Naruto under watch, just as a precaution, and reinforce Sai's mission. He then asks his two best ANBU hunters, Foo and Torune, to escort him to the Kage Summit, and they agree. Here was showed how simple is the loyalty from every Root ANBU towards Danzo. It's not clear if this goes by fear, or everyone shares his same extreme ideology. In the meantime, Taka decides to ambush and kill Danzo on the road to the Kage Summit. Obito thinks it's a good idea, and sends a clone of white Zetsu to guide them. After they leave, he talks to black Zetsu about how Nagato's betrayal was unexpected. Now he needs another pawn to use the Gedo Mazo statue, but even if Sasuke becomes stronger (which is his objective), he can't control him. He says that Naruto has delayed his plans, so now he won't be cautious, and will proceed to the next stage. This little part showed the villain's monologue. Obito knows what he's doing, but the storyline is going to unknown territory. The villain's true goal, now that Nagato is gone, is unclear. Considering their differences, it's certain that they don't want the same things, Obito doesn't want that kind of peaceful world.
