This movive reminds me of the 2004 flick Cellular.. it's action packed, brainless fun! Is it groundbreaking? No. Is the plot deep and thick with twists? Not at all. Yet, it's a great way to kill an hour and a half with enjoyable action, cool chases, a dose of humour mixed in that isn't forced like it is in alot of movies and shows these days. It's just a straight to the point good time! I'd recommend it to anyone looking to just kill a bit of time and have some fun in the process :)

Don't expect a masterpiece just a very enjoyably action movie with some good enough acting, a solid 7/10 for me.

I miss a time when you could look up a review for a movie, and read reviews from fans of that genre. Seems IMDB is no longer a place for that.
The plot was nothing mind blowing, but the action was constant, and the well-performed characters were good. I enjoyed it throughout. Why? Because I like action films. If you do too, and you can put your rational, sensible side away for 90 minutes, then you're going to enjoy Point Blank.
All in all this is a great action movie that harks back to the 90's "best of enemies", "victims of circumstance" romps with bullets and snot, and a heap of smashing stuff up.

This film tells the story of a male nurse who has to save his wife from dangerous criminals.
It has big name actors and is action packed. There are many fight scenes which should be thrilling. The soundtrack doesn't suit the film though. Editing is not as tight as it could have been, but it is an above average Netflix film.

Great Netflix movie to watch not sure why so many negative reviews really enjoyed this flick

It's not amazingly complex but it's a film that you can just switch off your brain and enjoy some action, had a 90s vibe to it, I don't know what people are complaining about the sound track for, I actually thought it made the film better, I agree that some are odd choices but they kinda make it quirky, solid 6.5/10 for me.

The story of thugs, killings and kidnappings fails to get any traction. The violence is banal and gratuitous.
Netflix has been making a much better name for themselves in terms of feature films recently. From Always Be My Maybe to even last years Oscar-Winner in Roma, they are proving that they're not just in the game of making great television shows. With that said, they also have an endless slew of content that leans on the mediocre side, and while I wouldn't exactly call Point Blank (one of their recent releases) mediocre, it's certainly quite average and didn't live up to its fullest potential.
The premise is rather simple; Paul's (Anthony Mackie) wife is pregnant and nearing her days of possible delivery, but when she is kidnapped, he is willing to change who he is in order to save her life and their child. Being a nurse, he helps a murder suspect escape from the hospital and the two of them become unlikely partners in the underground crime world in order to fulfill both of their missions. This movie is nearly everything you've already seen a hundred time, so what makes it different from the others? The answer is not much.
Anthony Mackie has proven himself over the years as a great dramatic actor, so I wasn't surprised to see him give a solid performance here. What always impresses me, however; is the fact that Frank Grillo can pretty much do no wrong, in terms of making his characters believable. On top of their commitment to these characters, their chemistry lept off the screen and made this movie worth watching. Sadly, their chemistry (which, thankfully there is a lot of) is really the only selling point here, for the most part.
There is a lot of energy in terms of the film's pacing overall and at a mere 87 minutes, it doesn't overstay its welcome, but there just isn't enough substance in the script to really dive deep into this world that's set up. Personally, I enjoyed watching this movie but felt short-changed by the final few minutes. As you can tell the movie is coming to a close, I fear that many viewers may find themselves with a little more to be desired.
In the end, Point Blank ultimately deserves to have its debut on Netflix, but I also wouldn't have minded sitting in the theatre for 90 minutes with these characters either. It's really a mixed bag of drama and action for me, but I will sway a little more on the positive side this time and recommend it as a fine watch on Netflix if you're looking for a breezy viewing experience. Point Blank had a lot going for it, but overall, it feels like wasted potential, but in a good way at times.

With a few tweaks this film could be massively improved, sure it's the predictable unlikely buddy action movie, but that's ok it's a formula that has worked many times.. the two big issues here are the soundtrack and the editing.. a re-edit and for the large part an entirely new soundtrack it's a 7.
"Point Blank" has been the name of multiple crime dramas in the past. This one sticks out thanks to the outstanding acting from Frank Grillo's (Abe) and Anthony Mackie (Paul). Frank Grillo´s performance is absolutely one of his best ever. Anthony Mackie´s acting is just sublime and natural as always. I hate to say it but Frank Grillo´s performance is just a dash better. And what a rollercoaster of action scenes. And the pace of the movie. Wow! The plot is straightforward but at the very last second of the movie it comes with a twist. Seldom I write about the music and soundtracks used in movies. However in this movie two songs stick out and match perfectly with the scene playing out right in front of you. "The look of love" by ABC at the end and "Love Missile F1-11) by Sigue Sigue Sputnik. What a match! The movie within the movie in the last 15 minutes is also brilliant. The money shot!
If you like action and crime movies, mark this one. 100% sure you will enjoy this movie.

Don't waste your time! So cheesy and the acting seemed so forced. The music during "intense" scenes makes it worse!

Fun throwback style action film. I think the people who gave this a bad review are just upset the two leads aren't wearing superhero costumes.

Just a touch of the right pace , action , drama and comedy not overdone or overhyped . Don't listen to the negative reviews.

If you saw the original French version of "Point Blank" and then tried to sit through this brainless D version you would be in utter shock. Everything is cheap and hollow. Enough said.
I think It is a very good movie to enjoy for a relaxing afternoon. The actors are playing very well. It definitely deserves attention.

I queued up POINT BLANK because I felt like a competently done, fun action movie that wasn't too challenging. Guess what? I got exactly what I expected!
As far as plots go, this one wasn't anything too special, except for the fact it was blessedly free of annoying plot holes. No twists, no blunders, no errors.
The cast is very good for this type of affair. Frank Grillo is charismatic as always, Anthony Mackie gets the job done, and Marcia Gay Harden is as deliciously unlikable as we've come to expect.
POINT BLANK was a good distraction. Escapism in the best sense of the word.

This is what I'd call a fast paced mess. The problems begin with a vague murder of a DA and dirty cops. If you're thinking unoriginal you're right. All chances to make it the least bit compelling are never addressed. There's absolutely no character development as if that isn't important either. It comes down to a young internist doctor trying to save his hostage pregnant wife. The many holes are ignored about as expected. The action can't even make this film work. I'd say don't waste your time....move along.

Its a story about contract killers, collateral kidnappings, intensive care nursing at many levels, a highly pregnant female, a desperate husband and 3 cops with rather turtle chasing the carrot on a string effectiveness.
actually its a good movie, with some small plotholes but its pretty good acting and action all over. it has a touch of B surfacing at moments, but also a lot of A level acting as well. i liked the filming and the pace of the action, spiced with some new twists that makes this a film you should see. i also enjoyed the choice of score for this flick, with some good ol 80's school music on the disk.
the grumpy old man thinks the makers just missed the target on point blank, because the guns and roses were farther away than that. its a recommend from me.

Nothing got me hooked about this movie. I found myself skipping and skipping and then i just stopped. It was just plain boring in every aspect.

There is one suspenseful sequence (around 15 minutes in) and its an elevator scene with Frank Grillo. Guess he really does like them.
Otherwise, this sounds, looks & breathes like a mediocre and forgettable TV movie at every front of its picture. It's not necessarily awful, just all around plain dull & unexciting. It's conspiracy is revealed through lazy exposition and essentially doesn't add up to thrilling climaxes. I guess the performances were mostly fine (the husband/wife bond was admittedly believable), but there really isn't anything memorable to be found in these 90 minutes.
It also does shift in tone becoming a weird gangster comedy down the finishing stretch. And wow, that female cop / conspiracy character was boring as hell. Over all, this does feel like most Netflix type movies, bland & forgettable.

It's incredible how a Soundtrack can change the vibe of a movie and this one is an example of it. So wrong!

No, this isn't a Bourne movie or the first Taken but it is a solid quality Netlflix movie. Good one time watch for when you are bored with binge watching TV shows. Two of my favorites in Mackie and Grillo act very well together just like their fight scene in Winter Soldier. Remember, it is a Netflix movie, don't be so harsh.

Frank Grillo is an excellent action hero these days thanks to his fantastic role in The Purge:Anarchy & here he's once again a great tough screen presence!!!
His Wheelman Thriller was also excellent for Netflix & now this action packed fun Thriller with a nice 80's vibe & soundtrack.
There's a nice 80's odd buddy feel to this think Lethal weapon & 48 hours & the two leads Frank Grillo & Anthony Mackle are great fun together with nice fun chemistry & some excellent action & funny moments.
This is a feelgood, fun action Thriller about corruption, crooked cops & fast paced action

This was seriously disappointing, the plot seemed good and the first 10 mins looked promising but it went downhill fast and developed into a poorly scripted and woodenly acted excuse for an action film, the soundtrack was the worst I've ever heard and so loud in some scenes I think it was to deter from the spectacle I was enduring, the car wash scene had me in hysterics, the song that was playing during it was hilarious. I've given it 2 for the beginning. I think the rating it's been given so far is too generous. Are these actors so hard up for jobs that they'll take any old tripe?? I'm starting to think so.
