It Would Have Worked With A Single Tweak...
DeanNYC19 January 2017
"Take It All" was another "big money" prime time supergame, with the promise of spectacular prizes, cash and ultimate trips to fantastic places.

Hosted by "Deal or No Deal" emcee Howie Mandel, this game also involved opening boxes. Contestants battled each other in a high stakes Yankee Swap/White Elephant game, where someone opened a box to find a prize. The next contestant could grab that prize or open a new box, hoping to find something more valuable. At the end of the round the contestants with the prizes worth the most got to continue. The low prize holder was out.

The end of the game was the most controversial. The two contestants who made it to the final round, each with presumably fantastic cars, trips and money could choose to "Keep Mine" or "Take It All." If both players chose "Keep Mine," both players went home with their collection of gifts. If both chose "Take It All," they both left with nothing. But if one chose to "Keep" while the other chose to "Take," the "taker" got everything, while the "keeper" left with nothing. This was especially harrowing when one contestant begged another to split their winnings, that she simply wanted to take her goodies and be happy, before they made their decision. Then, when the results were revealed, she had convinced her opponent to say "Keep Mine" while she picked "Take It All!"

The one tweak that should have been included in this final portion of the game was a simple one, and really an obvious one. If you believe your opponent plans to steal your prizes by saying "Take It All," there should have been an option to say "Block," which would mean that the defender would get all the prizes for blocking the attempt to steal. However, if the opponent said "Keep Mine," when you selected "block" you would sacrifice all your prizes to the opponent.

Having an option like that would have made the decision to choose much more of a psychological issue, more of a powerful circumstance and would have been fairer to both contestants as far as giving each a reasonable chance.

All fun til' the end of game...
thesttruth14 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I do luv watching this show... but only from the beginning til' the almost end when there are only two contestant left to participate in the prize fight. Today, Friday December 14, 2012, I had just finish watching the show and at today prize fight, one contestant was a male African gay man (he had mention during the game show that he would donate all his winning to the anti-bully organization because all his life he had been bullied for being a gay person) and the other contestant was an African female and she seem so sincerely when she was telling him that she only want to keep her prizes and there is no way she would take his winnings that gonna be for donation purposes. She also said that she is a believer in his good cause and she would donate all of her cash prize to his chosen charity if both decide to choose the "Keep Mine" choice. And guess what, she lied and she took everything. I understand that is how the game suppose to be play but it does leave a sour taste in my mouth and it had created sadness in my heart. I feel as if the game is teaching our human race to not to trust but to purposely deceive one another in order to achieve their ultimate goal. This game does fit perfectly for cons and criminals.

Ill-gotten gains
Rogue-3215 December 2012
I am generally not a fan of game shows that encourage contestants to bring out the worst in themselves, and after watching two episodes of this trash earlier this week, I'd say it most certainly falls into that insidiously horrendous category.

The show I'm referring to in particular is the one mentioned by another reviewer - the one with Destiny, the law student who wound up completely playing her fellow finalist by gaining his trust and then betraying that trust and taking everything from him. Afterwards she hid behind the guise of 'hey, that's how you play the game and I play to win.'

This morally corrupt person will get nothing but negative energy from her ill-gotten gains because they became hers through blatant and vile manipulation and greed. As the other reviewer said, her behavior left a bad taste in my mouth along with a heartsick feeling. If a game show host - in this case the shameless Howie Mandel- tells you it's okay to kill someone, say, does that override a person's own moral compass, or does the game show's endorsement of said behavior actually make it okay? Apparently, to Destiny, it did. All I can say about this wretched excuse for a human being is that she will most definitely make an excellent lawyer.

Take it All- Worst show ever
wileydanandsam14 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Dirty Santa with Howie Mandel. Welcome to the worst experience of your life. Contestants( paid actors?) pick between outlandish gifts. The one who picks the lowest priced gift leaves the show. This last 3 rounds until the starting 5 are down to 2. Then they enter the last round which doesn't even resemble the rest of the game. The two remaining contestants must choose to either "take mine" or "take it all". All of the crazy prizes plus a little cash are wagered in the end. if both contestants choose to take only their own prizes they do just that, but if they both try to take it all they will both take nothing. The other option where one contestant takes it all and the other takes just their own, the one taking their own actually takes nothing while the other indeed takes it all. Before that there is some useless chatter about wanting to give the money to some great charity, and the two contestant agree to take their own prizes and one person gets screwed over by a greedy woman (even if the person getting screwed over is Santa). What kind of a game show makes you watch such horrible dribble, only to have a 25% chance that no one wins, a 50% chance that someone gets all their money and prizes taken from them by a greedy SOB, and a 100% chance that you will hate yourself for watching this good for nothing "game show". There are no games or skill involved in this semi "prisoner's dilemma" designed for greedy, hateful slobs. All I have left to say is this: if I had to pick between the penny in case 16 and this show, I'd say, No deal, Howie.

A very tasteless game show
vietkieumy201215 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Despite of all the locomotion of audience's screaming, contestant choosing prizes either from the dream screen or from an opponent but it will all came down to the final decision at the end of the game when who will be a real liar will win it all. This is the first time ever that I had seen a TV game show that their advertisement's companies actually do have a chance to get all their stuffs back by not rewarding the contestant if either one of the contestants chose not to trust the other. I had seen last night episode as the other two user's reviews had indicated and I totally agreed with them. This is a tasteless and wicked game show. I believe later that there will only be cons to participate in this show because righteousness contestants have very slim chance to really to win the prizes. This show will not only affect the contestants but also to all viewers alike. What this game is teaching us? So far all I can see is that it is teaching us to be more skillful at lying, deceiving and willing to step on one another no matter of the cost, to achieve our greedy intention. It is just as same as you get two people, give each the few prizes and a gun then to tell them to point the gun at each other and ask them to make their own decisions. If they both choose to "Not Fire" (same as "Keep Mine") then they both be walking home winning but if one of them is a real con then certain death will be upon the other honesty's contestant. I believe in the long run, this kind of shows will gradually brainwashing our mind and affecting greatly on our younger generation thoughts. I don't want to see my kids nor our kids growing up to learn not to trust other human being and not to be honest because as this show had presented that honesty IS NOT the best policy. The sad part is that if they seeing it on popular TV station channels then they would thought it is the right things to do so. Monkey see and monkey do. BTW, did a criminal sitting in a prison cell somewhere is the creator of this show? The show's title "Take It All" should really be "The Best Con Win".

Disgusting

Warning: Spoilers
This show was so awful, that it spurned me to type my first ever review. I apologize in advance for my abysmal writing ability; however, I need to warn people about this "game show."

It's filth.

---Here's an example-- Kind, old lady and mid-income woman. Her and the woman agree to split $400,000. Seconds later 'old lady' hits the button to steal all the money for herself. She gives a wide-grin towards the screen. The End.

Having fun?

If you cheerfully enjoyed that tactless scenario, then you'd probably adore "Take it All." Unfortunately, I don't. What's even MORE disappointing? The "game show" host continually tries to convince the contestants stealing and/or lying with a straight face is smart.

Such words of wisdom!!! *SARCASM*

This show does not teach competition. It teaches how cheating is the secret towards success. And we get to see good people, fall for these liars. It's not even a battle of wits. The only "knowledge" you can use at the end-game is presenting a blunt-face lie.

*Sarcasm* Let's reward the person, the audience will hate!!! GENIUS!!!

Yea... Howie Mandel is charming, but the ending is the ultimate kill joy. It propagates unhelpful cynicism, and leaves the viewer with a nauseating feeling.

There are better shows.

Brings out the worst
mlvincent118 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
On Friday, December 14th, I watched an episode of Take it All. I hope that NBC decides to pull this show IMMEDIATELY! In the beginning it reminded me of a holiday ornament exchange I have participated in, but the end was awful! The female contestant lied and misled her opponent all for GREED. She promised to give her cash prize to his charity and that she was satisfied with her winning. But no - she wanted it all. The shock and disappointment on the young man's face was heart retching. This is not what anyone, especially young viewers, need to see. I hope the ratings are so poor the show is canceled. Shame on NBC and Howie Mandel for participating in highlighting the worst in humans.

Only a Sociopath could come up with this show!!
BlindMan-1113 December 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I was the first to review this show and gave it a 9. This is the first time I think that someone has gone back and edit their original review to change to this extent.

I apologize for my original review. Anyone that read my original review and felt that it was worth watching this masterpiece of bad taste, please read on.

This is horrid. I agree totally with the other posters.

1. This is a game of conning and lying. We mostly think of lawyers as low-life ... anything to win the game. This was proved in the Friday show. I could not have believed what I saw if I had it on TiVo and watched it again. Gladly, I was able to delete it and remove this show from further taping.

2. Its a nice concept until the last round. Then it just is a nasty game of tricking the other person into your honesty.

3. By letting them know much money is hidden at the end it makes for even more greed of the worst kind. Terrible Terrible Terrible!!!

Yes I am now very sure that this show was conceived by a sociopath who is enjoying his creation.

Shame on the network, the producers, Howie and also the contestants.

This is really a sad day for network TV

Morally bankrupt
Hare_jason21 January 2013
Shameful. A Long, slow, painful way for the sleazy sneering host to get gullible people to trade their souls and character for a handful of trinkets. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the world he didn't exist. If you can watch this show without feeling dirty inside you should join Howie Mandel on his crusade to shovel the final handful of dirt on NBC. They almost deserve the derision for signing this shark jumping game show to their schedule. Mr Mandel is the luckiest man on television, but even for the hard of thinking this show has to be a tax on his popularity. Save yourself the misery of knowing this show cost you an hour of your life you'll never get back and watch paint dry as a better alternative.
