Hard to Get Beyond Amy
Hitchcoc21 October 2021
I would have to agree that too much Amy is destructive to the flow of the show. She is tyrannical and a little scary. Where Sheldon is clueless, it is like a small child with limited experience. He is a brilliant savant. Will Wheaton seems to be making the best of things as Amy exerts power. We also have Howard and Bernadette dealing with his leaving his mother after their marriage. I know his persona is predicated on these experiences, but it wears a bit thin at times. Of course, eccentricity is the name of the game on this show.

I can't be the only one
Danes7825 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I have to begin by saying I have never liked Amy Farrah Fowler. I don't find her funny or endearing in any way. Her bumbling social ineptitude, selfishness and insecurities do not make her quirky or cute, but rather annoying and irritating. I can honestly say that I have never laughed at a single word she's said since she came to the series. This episode always rubs me the wrong way. She begins by being rude to Wil Wheaton and then expects Sheldon to defend her when Wil dares to say something mild back to her. If anyone should apologize to anyone else in this episode, it should be her. But, as always, Sheldon has to bend over backwards to make her feel better for an issue that she herself started. I also feel that she is slowly ruining Sheldon. Although I do appreciate him slowly becoming more "human", this could have been accomplished with a far better match for him.

The final issue I want to mention is the amount of screen time that is wasted on her. I for one would rather spend my time watching any of the other members of the group, than another Amy-centric waste of 21 minutes. I truly hope that at some point in the series, she'll be written off for good. Please, Chuck, I'm begging you! This is my favourite comedy show!

Um, who's really being rude here?

I usually love Amy Farrah Fowler, but she was wrong accusing Wil Wheaton of being rude, when it was she who was acting like a true asshat while directing Fun with Flags"...not her finest!

You do NOT in fact have to always side with your SO, when they're wrong they're wrong
orwa-8021228 August 2022
Unlike others, I actually don't hate Amy, I think she was a fine addition to the show, and while she may be annoying at times, she's no more annoying than Sheldon (that's why they fit together)

But I found the opening scene too cringy to watch, not because it was unfunny (well it was indeed unfunny) but because I couldn't stand Amy keep telling Wil he's wrong and not acting well even though it's clear that he is (I kept fast forwarding through the scene)

Like yeah that IS the joke, but it's not funny especially when you consider the rest of the episode where the writing makes it seem like we're supposed to side with Amy just because Wil used a strong word, while ignoring that she was indeed being an asshat

And just in general, I really don't like shows that keep repeating the same exact joke like 5 times in one go, like we get it Amy thinks he's doing a bad job, you don't have to keep repeating the joke so many times.

It was always better than this!
mhsb-6711 November 2012
The episode wasn't as good as previous episodes at all. It made me laugh a couple of times, but it wasn't what I expected from the BBT show. The last few episodes, and especially the last one, were absolutely brilliant and funny, and every moment contained a joke that rolled me on the floor laughing. But in this one, the jokes were too weak. and the story didn't start to get funny until last sequences.

The Howard's moving story wasn't amusing and the Wheaton-Amy fight was not a good idea and made it a little sad. Another weak point of this episode was that raj's appearance was too little and I missed his nice accent and strong jokes.

I hope they do a better job next time, and I'm pretty sure they will!

"The Habitation Configuration" ep of "The Big Bang Theory" was a pretty good ep and that's enough for this show considering all the hilarious ones previous
tavm6 December 2012
In this ep of "The Big Bang Theory": Amy's directing Sheldon's "Fun with Flags" show with guest Wil Wheaton who brings the Federation of Planets flag. Unfortunately, Amy's first-time status concerning said job gives her an ego which ruffles Wil and Sheldon, not really knowing what to do, does not defend his girlfriend in front of him, resulting in her leaving and Wil and Sheldon going to dinner together instead. Meanwhile, Bernadette is wondering when hubby Howard is moving out of his mother's house and with her. Howard does seem to still spend all his time at his mom's, doesn't he? I'll stop there and just say while there's plenty of funny lines and scenes, it's not as hilarious as previous eps this season. Still, it's a good enough ep this "The Habitation Configuration" so I give this one a pass...

Very poor writing and plot.
mark-147814 October 2022
Wouldn't normally leave a review for a single episode of a tv show but this episode really rubbed me up the wrong way and it's all because of one character - Amy.

By this point the show was still pretty strong (Season 7 is for me, when it all went down hill), but the plot and writing in this was atrocious for the simple reason of how rude Amy was to Wil Wheaton, and yet for the entire rest of the episode, it was written as Wheaton being the badguy (simply for calling Amy out on her rudeness) and Sheldon being a lapdog by trying to please her. To top it off, the episode ends with Amy being rude again to another character/cameo.

The subplot of Howard moving out of the family home was barring a couple of lines, tedious too.

An episode that lays the true Amy bare
crimsonsun-6048611 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It has long been a premise of this show that Sheldon is not very 'human'. I would contend that Amy is far less human and very obnoxious with it. This episode leaves a bad taste in the mouth because this very obnoxious character is, for some reason, written in as the 'good' guy here. She is very rude and unreasonable to Wil Weaton in the opening scene but the 'moral' in the episode is that Sheldon, as her boyfriend, has to take her side and 'defend her honour'. Penny is also of this toxic opinion and bullies the naive Sheldon into taking that same opinion too. It's shockingly bad, unfunny writing (even for TBBT which became regularly formulaic and unfunny by season 4) and really reveals the true nature of Amy - that she's actually a very narcissistic and selfish person. The only redeeming factor is that we see a rare emotional side of Sheldon (albeit it one where we feel sorry for him).

The subplot of Howard reluctantly leaving his Mother's house is predictable and laugh free.

A very dire episode overall.

Starting to go downhill.
galetinv20 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This season is the one when it all began to go downhill. It simply wasn't as funny as it was on previous seasons, and it never got any better, only worse. Can't put my finger on it for the season, but for this episode it was all on Amy. She isn't funny or quirky, she is extremely irritating and annoying. She was extremely rude to Will, and she was the one who should apologise. Not the other way around. She didn't deserve for Sheldon to defend her. Penny was mildly annoying also. This was far from the show I loved in the beginning.
