Your Time Would Be Better Spent Walking The Dog
garyrob200810 September 2015
So bad that I'm not even sure where to start. The first thing I'll say is don't waste your time unless you're willing to sit through an abundance of cliché's that come one after another from start to finish. I typically only write a review in situations that warrant a red flag, so that viewers don't waste their time.

This movie runs the gamut on just about everything, poorly written, poor choice of actors, a film score that just doesn't belong with the story, etc. etc... If you're a "gear head" then you're going to be even more disappointed because a lot of the mechanical references are flat out laughable to the point you would actually be embarrassed for the actor/character.

I'm pretty sure I could grab some local racers and make an equally as bad movie, but for a lot less money. I'll even go out on a limb and say my actors/characters could deliver funnier lines without all the cliché's added in. To sum this up....go take the dog for a walk or play a board game with your kids/friends!!

Adrenaline Addiction portrayed In very poor taste, sadly.
clbr11 September 2015
The story line is poorly written and honestly, as a Christian, who would cure an Adrenalin addiction with more Adrenalin?

The proselytizing of those Good Old Southern Racing Values is also almost achieved but not entertaining.

The Christian aspect of this movie is questionable but honestly not delivered.

The fast and furious is achieved without a hero like Paul Walker, who actually died last year for the love of speed and adrenalin.

Just to much of a low grade racing film without a real message accept racers-race.

Free to speed and all that comes with it. Death by speeding and reckless driving is real and real drivers education is the cure, not more racing.

Keep racing on the track and teach your children well.

Did not like "The boys will be boys" and all of the political and religious undertones. Nice people probably but poor delivery and confusing message.

Racer's race because they are addicted to adrenaline and when they get up, they go and race again. Almost boring, accept of course for the wannabee racers.

Great Story
bluecuda115 September 2015
Surprisingly good film considering the negative reviews posted here, I guess haters will be haters. Hardly a film to be compared to the Fast and Furious considering the budgets. Completely disagree with most of their assessments. I saw this in theaters and there was a standing ovation so maybe I'm not alone in my opinions. However having said that, I found it well paced, well shot, good acting, and music fit genre. The story rings true for many and having lost friends to Motorsports related accidents or those that were injured from them, I think it explores an interesting perspective. It did have some clichés but not in bad taste and really hardly any films don't lack clichés these days anyway. It is also nice to see a car film that uses real believable race car action rather than "super hero type" stunts that could never happen in reality (although entertaining). Maybe not a film for today's theaters big budget huge action type films, but a great film for television. Worth watching.

A ten in my books

A good film. In my set of values, it deserves a 10. Why? It has everything that a good film has to have: good story, motivation, good cinematography, good acting, great set with lots of action and of course, something that a lot of productions lack... moral.

Now: I love the story. Yes, it might not be told in the typical Hollywood style with a lot of CGI and explosions (don't expect the Fast and Furious saga - it wasn't made with that purpose), but it's exactly what you'd like to watch. A film that tells a story of redemption, of hope and freedom.

I have to say that I loved 3 characters: - the "uncle" played by John Schneider who did a beautiful job in making the character seem so real and so natural - the "patient" played by Gregory Alan Williams who made me smile the moment he open his mouth. He made me smile because the kindness and the wisdom was shining. Great character cover. I followed him throughout the film and every time when he was on screen I had a smile on my face... from various reasons - the "track guy" played by Mark Jeffrey Miller who fit those overalls not just with his physic but with his entire talent. Love how he nailed the accent and the looks

I will not say anything about the story because I want to let you enjoy it to the max, but there are a lot of elements that will jump at you from the dialogue and from the action.

Yes, could the film be made better? Yes, like any other film. You know how it is: every time when you finish something and you deliver you think of improvements. But, as I said: it's a 10 for me because it has all the elements a good film should have.

Enjoy! :)

Racing and Religion

Solid movie with good talent. CGI could have been better , or left out in the first place. Even with a low budget ... the race cars used were Wicked real life machines. The main actors were all likable and the cameos from a Rock Star and real world Drag Racer worked just fine. This is great Gearhead family entertainment.

Great Family Movie
papabearoc29 April 2024
This movie was great. Yes, it might come up a bit short in the technical nature for true "gear head purists , but most families are not that savvy in this area, thus the story line is what matters. And it's great. In today's Hollywood it would naturally be panned by those who not only shy away from anything to lean toward a righteous cause but run away. But for our family, we saw it at a premiere in Roanoke, Virginia, and it ended to great applause! The moral of the story was clearly seen. There was enough drama as well as some humor, John Schneider was great as were the rest. Mike Holmes did well and I felt the part fit him well. Watch it with the family. Don't worry about language...it's decent for a change.
