Nothing as ghastly as the title implies, 'Bleed Out' spreads personal strife out among several of its lead characters. For Bryant, the Tammi/Internal Affairs investigation is closing in; for Lydia, the struggle of raising a child with no support; for Cooper, the feeling of a nearing end and no one to share it with (while his old training officer lingers on the periphery, beaten down and alone).
God knows I've said it before, but Tammi is toxic; just a horrible character. But at least they're using her offscreen to throw Sammy off his game.
One of the closing shots features Cooper sticking by his old boss as he sleeps off a drinking bout. Nothing but dread in that shot.
On the other hand, this had one of the best Cooper moments. A scene both heartbreaking and pleasing as John comforts a young woman trapped underneath a tour bus. The compassion that's shown here is tremendous for this character and really hits on his solitude when the shift is over.
8/10
