'Under the Big Top' maintains a nice mix of touching and humor despite not being as heavy as the last few episodes. One of the reasons I really like this season is that it allows Cooper to open up and develop as a character. Case in point, his heart-to-heart with a lonely suicidal is a great example. Cudlitz is more than capable of accessing Cooper's soft side. Outside of that, the episode is largely focused on a bank-robbery turned social media circus (leading to a nasty arrest on the subway). I think that MTA foot chase was the sole bit of hard action (a great one, nonetheless), but this had far more in small character moments.

Warning: Spoilers
Not as dramatic as past episodes. The cases the cops had to deal with this week ranged from a kid whose wallet got stolen to a lair found where bodies are decomposed. Sammy and Ben seemed to get along more this week then past ones. The chase scene of the bank robber which lead to the subway as the man through money around was quite entertaining. Lydia has seemed to get over the loss of her mother quite quickly with issues of her child's father briefly coming in the episode. Nothing was really interesting or anything special in the episode compared to some lately. Some conversations in the episode where some nice moments to have throughout the mixed episode of cops working together and some going on their own.

EPISODE GRADE: C (MVP: Michael Cudlit)
