Sex & Nudity

  • A man puts his hand down his pants and rubs himself.
  • A man describes how he found lots animal porn on his computer, and that his alter ego "peachfuzz" watched it.
  • The sexual references are not graphic but are unusually disturbing.
  • A character strips to take a shower, we see his buttocks briefly, his bare chest, penis, and pubic hair. We then see him in the bath, shirtless, bare legs.

Violence & Gore

  • A man describes how he violently raped his own wife (later revealed to be his sister) by tying her up and having "ravenous animalistic sexual intercourse" with her saying that it felt good on his end. This is the most disturbing moment in the film and nothing is shown at all.
  • There are a lot of moments where it feels like the protagonist can be killed at any time which is very frightening even though there is only one scene of violence in the entire film.
  • Zero violence until one scene at the very end.

Profanity

  • 2 uses of Fuck.
  • Exactly as much language that you would hear in a PG-13 film. The F-word is only used in one scene twice and the other language is mild.
  • A few uses of shit
  • One use of goddamn

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Two characters drink whiskey. One of the drinks is spiked with a drug.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The entire movie is very tense, uncomfortable and the threat of violence looms throughout despite their only being one instance of a violent act. There is a vivid reference to rape, scenes where a man acts strangely and obsessively over the cameraman, moments of erratic behavior and many jumpscares. The entire film is isolated so that the protagonist can be attacked at any time and would be able to receive no help.
  • Recommended rating: R for disturbing behavior including brief violence.
  • A very jarring and realistically disturbing film.
  • A man dresses up in a very scary and unsettling wolf mask. In one scene he stands at a door, blocking a man from leaving his house. One runs towards another, implying they are fighting.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • A man describes how he violently raped his wife. He says that he climbed through her window, tied her up and proceeded to have "animalistic sexual intercourse" with her while wearing a wolf mask. He explains that it felt good on his end, but he now realizes that he did a terrible thing. This is very disturbing and even more uncomfortable.

Violence & Gore

  • A man plunges an axe into the back of another mans head. This is shown from a distance and is bluntly seen on camera with no cuts. We see no blood (adding to the realism) and then he falls dead. When the murderer swings again the video pauses and we see no further. We cut to the killer watching the video in pleasure, smiling, while we hear the strikes of the axe.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The movie isn't really violent, it doesn't have much profanity nor is there much sexual content. Despite this, the disturbing behavior of the films antagonist is enough to warrant the film an R rating because of his reference to rape, the single axe murder scene and his aberrant and extremely bizarre actions in order to lure the protagonist into his trap. The scene of violence is also quite shocking despite not being bloody or graphic.
