Amazing pinku by Seiichi Hayashi.
At first it almost seems overtly lighthearted and eventless but by the 30 minutes or so mark it gets progressively more and more tense eventually culminating in one of the most tense yet sutile endings i've seen in a while.
The film is amazingly shot in beautiful color (which for the time seemed quite rare in pinku films). There are also some artwork spread through the film which are really beautiful (some of it colorized photos, some of it actual oil paintings, both of which i suspect that were made especially for the film. There is some bad acting here and there but in no way it is something that really hurts the film overrall. I though it was pretty good.
