I don't understand the controversy

Warning: Spoilers
Glee has already touched on great themes this season: losing and what happens after you do, Gender identity, eating disorders, body image, and break-ups. But this episode was able to touch a nerve with every person in America. The episode flowed beautifully. While others say the beginning was childish, which it was, I found it beautiful and realistic. School shootings happen randomly, they can't set us up for a shooting because it is not realistic; contrasting that childish beginning with the rest of the episode was a perfect way to do it. Then dealing with Becky; we are told that DS people are just like us and they should be treated as such. But the second that she was named the offender people started freaking out saying that is wrong because she has DS. Why shouldn't Becky deal with the same issues that others deal with? I will admit the reasoning was a little weak, but don't say it is wrong to use her, because then we defeat the purpose of equality for all types of people. Becky has proved time and again that she understands consequences and understands what happens around her; she was just as likely as anyone else to bring a gun. Last but not least the issue of it being too soon; the worst reason of all. School shootings happen more often then people think; Sandy Hook was viewed as more tragic because the were elementary kids and it got more press because of it. I mean no disrespect to anyone, I realize this is a sensitive issue and I am sorry if I offended anyone, but the controversy behind this episode is childish. It was such a beautiful episode and people choose to look for ways to tear it down. I applaud Glee for tackling this issue. Fantastic episode.

Wow!!!! This was one of the best episodes of Glee I have seen. I saw online that some think this is to soon after the shootings that have happened. But I do not feel that way. Tragedy happens 24/7 365 days a year. There is no way to time something when you are dealing with something that humans create. This also highlighted my main problem with the "gun control" thing. I am all for making things more organized. Those complaining about it just need to relax. You can still have guns. You will just have to put more work towards getting them. Someone who is 40 would not join a group of 16 year olds trying to make the legal drinking age 17, for the fact that the 40 year old can already drink. You see? The episode was about shots fired at the school. The Glee club locked themselves in their classroom. They were fine, BUT, the things that happened will shock you. I just kind of froze. It was very interesting and will be on your mind for a while after you see it. The thing that they did was point out the fact that as long as PEOPLE can get guns, people can get guns. It does not matter how long of a wait you are on to get a gun. A man who has been 100% his entire life can wait 12 months and go through all kinds of tests and steps to get a gun. But as long as EVERYONE else can use the same gun, that man becomes millions of men and women. That is what I liked about this episode. People can feel bad, sad or think there no other way out and things can happen. This was a very good episode.

Exceptional. Deals with the aftermath of a school shooting in realistic ways. Gets away from melodrama and silly storylines to real high school reality in the modern age in a very powerful way. Very well done. The one episode of GLEE everyone should watch.

This is a high school event that is hard to represent well. I think the folks in this show did it incredibly. It hit me.

I do not think anyone with kids in school do not have this fear. One time seeing on TV that something has gone down at thier school. The last 2 decades we have seem Sandy Hook, The world Trade Center and the attempted invasion of Congress fueled by Mr Trup and his rhetoric. These are scary days.

Three Gun Shots?!!!
lisamariie-8162330 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
First gun shot was at 17:30 second gun shot was at 17:32. But there was a third gunshot at 19:19. Where did that come from if supposedly Becky shot the gun and then dropped it and it discharged? It was the exact same sound as the first two gunshots so there's no chance of it being a door slamming shut. Did the producers have to chance the story line half way through taping or something??

Powder-keg of emotions.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode contained both the least and most captivating scenes of the series for me so far.

The opening didn't hold much promise as to where the episode was going. Most fans have already deduced who Ryder's catfish really is, and Brittany has had to many ditsy convictions lately to make the asteroid theory any more then a minor nuisance or giggle to whether or not you like her character.

The gunshots immediately snapped my attention back. I went from the mindsets "Oh well, guess this won't be nothing more then some good songs" to "Oh damn, this is going to create reactions". Glee has been known to handle many heavy society issues, like homophobia, racism and bullying to the point of mental depression, but personally I feel like none of the previous ones have so far touched a nerve among American high school children like this one. I cant speak for them, not even being American, but i've read and seen enough about it in media to know that there is a real fear in high school about this.

I only felt slightly disappointing to the "culprit" behind the gun. I didn't for a second believe that it was actually Sue. Sure she's an ass, but even she draws the line somewhere.. I only wish they had come up with a more feasible source then Becky. Sure she suffers from DS, but she has proved to be smart and thoughtful. Bringing a gun because you're scared of high school ending? That just seems like a worse reason then say Ryder for being angry at Katie, or some unknown kid who they would discover had been mentally disturbed in some way.

In the end, this had so much potential, which I felt was left unresolved in more then one way..

Warning: Spoilers
Just when I thought the show could not get anymore offensive leave it to the creators of the show to make the serious topic lately that is school shootings by not giving an worthy payoff to the horrible experience the actors had to act in. The episode title includes Shooting in it and the episode started off as a normal episode for the show but there was a moment when the shoots were fired it was all about confessions, crying and separation until we found out about the culprit. The responsible one was Sue Slyvester and while I did not appreciate the episode overall I thought the performance given by Lynch to be her best in many seasons as she has not been used well for some time now. I did not like when the truth of Becky was revealed because while it did make Sue a nicer character I would have rather had it be the accident it was to be. Lynch being gone from the show will not make a difference for me because she barely appears on the show anymore. The episode took the serious matter that is gun violence and made it bad because of how they handled. The show trying to bring in Catfishing had no payoff and was never interesting to begin with.

EPISODE GRADE: F (MVP: N/A)
