The plot to this movie is based on a real supernatural occurrence that is often reported on 'Lemon Tree Pasage' in New South Wales, Australia.
Cast members Nicholas Gunn, Tim Phillips and Pippa Black all have previously appeared on the Australian TV soap series 'Neighbours'. Black as the daughter of Paul Robinson and Phillipps firstly as a vision of Robinson's and later as his nephew, Daniel. Gunn has played more than one character, most recently Forest. Jessica Tovey starred in rival soap, 'Home and Away'.
The film was shot over four weeks in September 2012 in South Australia, Australia. Additional photography was shot in March 2013 with the addition of an new character. This was decided during editing and post-production after the original shoot had wrapped.
According to the article 'The Ghost of Lemon Tree Passage rises' by Don Groves published on the 'SBS' website, ''the producers developed and financed the film privately, without the assistance of government agencies.'' Producer Jeremy Ervine said ''the South Australian Film Corporation's guidelines won't allow the agency to support first-time filmmakers, instead insisting they start out on short films and in development labs''. He added: "We were much too impatient to do that."
The 'Lemon Tree Passage' place in real life is situated in in Port Stephens, New South Wales, Australia but the movie did not shoot there. It was shot in South Australia.
