April is one of the worst tv characters ever
Steve_Holt_29 July 2020
This episode would be ok (not great, just ok) without April, but with her it's a pain to endure. This episode underscores all the problems with this character. She's selfish, mean, juvenile, and never grows. Her character never changes. It's the 5th season and she's still a petulant teenager who has gained nothing from her years of experience around people peoe who give her chances. I do not understand why people in this show keep telling her she's so smart and amazing...she does nothing, and has done nothing, to show that. Leslie, Ron, Chris, and now Ben have all given her opportunities based on how incredible they say she is, yet all she does is repeatedly prove what an attention-seeking child she is. Ugh.

Painful to watch

This episode was just strange. Leslie finds out after she proposes the tax that it may cost jobs then seriously ponders whether she'll vote for the bill she proposed.

As for Ben, he suffers what many of the characters suffer from on this show. There's no growth. As an earlier reviewer notes, April continues to be a jerk, Leslie is clueless, Ben has zero confidence. As for Tom, what a missed opportunity. Thank goodness for Andy and Ron!

As for episodes, this is one of the weaker ones.

Warning: Spoilers
In Washington and Ben/April get gifts from their loves but they are sad because they live so far away from them. Leslie wants to put a tax on Sugar as she feels the people of Pawnee are not in the best shape because of the sugar. In Washington Ben is annoyed at the fact that people are typing in different fonts. Andy needs training to a police man and he asks Tom/Chris to help which is bad combo of people. Leslie try's to get things moving in government and she is not being listened to about how their is unhealthy opinions in Pawnee. Leslie learns that if her tax goes through she will make people loose her jobs. Ben try's to connect with his workers so he acts like he is their age which is very awkward. Back to Pawnee and it seems Leslie is being recalled for office. Andy also must run for his wife but Chris has no one to run for. At the vote Leslie gets sick from drinking all the soda. When Ben finds out who drew the pictures the workers say it is his daughter April who is not actually his daughter. Leslie learns Ron tried to fire her four times which is surprising because I thought they were close. Then Chris learns he has nothing wrong with him other then he is alone so he is told to get a therapist. Chris with the advice from Tom makes the goal to climb his mind of Everest. When Leslie makes her vote she votes for the tax, even if she gets some enemies. April forces people to do work and it's hilarious. OK episode and Nick Offerman is great so far this year.

It's Pop in Indiana

It was very hard to stay connected with this episode when throughout they kept referring to "soda" which is a word only used on the coasts.

That was completely distracting.
