A realistic and terrific start to the show
It's been a year since I reviewed the sixteenth episode of the third season of Arrow and now I'm going to review every single episode starting with this one.

It does a great job introducing not only Oliver Queen (played by Stephen Amell), but the other characters as well. The story here is really gripping and the story-arc for Oliver keeps you really invested to what's going to happen next for him as he spent five years surviving on his own. The acting from all involved is surprisingly good and it's very well-written. The action sequence was cool too, but what I like the most is how realistic it is it kind of reminds me of The Dark Knight.

Overall, the pilot episode for the Arrow is really great. Sure it leaves you wanting for more especially with Oliver's relationship with the other characters including his family, but like I said before, it's realistic and that's what makes it so good. Thumbs up. :)

Green Arrow is dark now... cool
highmarksreviews23 February 2018
"Pilot" may not be a total re-invention of the Green Arrow, but it does many things to set up a pretty gloomy and gritty season. The first episode pulls no punches in introducing main themes and ideas that will dominate the course of Oliver Queen's (Stephen Amell) journey. Amell is compelling and haunting as Ollie and the rest of the cast, while not as competent at times, still remained intriguing. The flashback element to the main plot is an interesting idea and weaves more mystery. An all around great way to open a show.

something different
I don't watch tv any more, but I got this pilot episode on file sharing. Have to say it is a sort of refreshing change, a super hero who is a not-so-good good guy. He definitely has no problem killing bad guys, for which I guess you could make a case for self defense. And he doesn't even think twice about stealing from the rich. It's was a little hard following it at times, but that just might be me. I will try a few more episodes and see how it goes. I remember reading the Green Arrow comics when I was a kid (all of the super hero comics in fact). If this is a modern version of Green Arrow, albeit a darker version, I really hope the producers keep their political agendas out of it. Time will tell.

THE PERFECT BEGINNING TO THE GREATEST SHOW EVER MADE
THEARROWFLASH11 July 2020
I'm on my first rewatch of any show, the show being ARROW obviously, and this episode was even more perfect than I remember it. I watched it the day it aired, when I was a child, and now it has made my childhood perfect. I will forever be indebted to the show. If it wasn't clear by everyone's ratings, yes this episode is perfect & you should watch it & you should watch every single season of this beautiful show that i'm so grateful for, for the rest of my life

In a word : PERFECTION

I watched the TV show 'Arrow'^^ because my teacher showed it to me. I think about it. First, it was easy!! so, i recommend it for children. Second, it was impressive. ^^ Oliver Queen is handsome and he is special. Because he used his unique weapon and his action scene is tough!! and his costume is very good. Also, Other character are very pretty and handsome but i like Oliver because he is tough and very nice. Third, foreign people can learn English because they and i learned English very easily. I can say "TV show 'Arrow' is fun and impressive" Oliver looks like 'hawkeye' ha ha I think that you must watch it. you will feel like very exciting and wonderful action scene!!

Here we go Green Arrow!
twbond-0086721 March 2021
Green Arrow S1 E1: Pilot (2012) is impressive! It's a slow burner to start with, but it really gets going. Stephen Amell is a great Oliver Queen, and he portrays the billionaire playboy very well. His introduction of using a bow and arrow is great stuff. I'm really looking forward for more of his take on the titular character. There's so much more to see!

Of course, this is a 2012 season, but whilst indoors in lockdown, it's time to dig into the hood and grab the bow looking forward for a great show to come.

Great pilot, bit of a slow-burner, but nonetheless great adaptation of learning more about Star City's "Robin Hood."

Great. 8/10.

Green Arrow

This pilot serves as a great introduction to Green Arrow. Despite similarities to Batman, it is still a wonderfully done story. It is set in modern times as you can see from the "Twilight" reference, which is pretty cool. This episode managed to establish Arrow's mission and what he intends to do, and the obstructions that he will have and it is definitely a very interesting story to look forward to. As much as I would prefer a Batman story, Batman is already well established with quite a few movies that also tell his origins, so having a similar but distinctive character will make it interesting and enjoyable as you have something new to look forward to.

similar to Dark Knight!
wihtkh2 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
After watching this episode, I soon realize that this show is almost similar to Dark Knight considering Oliver Queen, who is a millionaire playboy at the daytime and a green hooded superhero at the midnight. What i like most is that Oliver Queen is a realistic hero who train himself and become a really proficient archer in contrast to fantastic heroes who have supernatural abilities like superman. What i feel unsatisfied is Arrow's costume. He always wears a green hood whenever he fights as a hero. It makes me feel that i want to buy stylish clothes for him . Telling about this show's secret, lots of character's names are related to their features! Keep it in your mind when you'll watch this show.

A Man in a Green Hood

Warning: Spoilers
This is still one of the best pilot episodes I have seen.

The story is gripping, and all the characters are established seamlessly. The acting is also really good with Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen) being a standout. He is not a typical hero and that is actually a very gripping part of the show. The action sequences are surprisingly well done and cool with them really showing off all of Oliver's skills. The flashbacks show a sharp contrast between Oliver in present day and 5 years ago. It is also really realistic which is something I really liked.

Overall, it is a great introduction to Green Arrow and the start of something truly special. My rating for this episode is 8.5/10.

Loved this new series

Warning: Spoilers
Love this new series. It leaves you wondering what is going to happen next. Steven Amell is fabulous in this role. This pilot Series reminds me of the game Assassins Creed. I love it! Arrow is one of those Series that can leave you wanting more. What the writers do with the next 4 to 5 episodes will be the tell tale all. Let us hope they do this new series justice. The 2nd episode preview spoiler now tells us that Oliver Queen's mother, Moria Queen has a secret. Interesting twist to the plot. I am totally looking forward to the following episodes to see what transpires. Again, lets hope the writers do this show justice. I am looking forward to some really awesome and real plot thickening episodes to come.

Pilot
Prismark1029 January 2020
So young playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) got shipwrecked on an island somewhere near China. He learned survival skills and became an ace archer.

Five years later, he is rescued and returns to his family minus his father who died in the shipwreck. He discovers his younger sister has grown up to be sulky teenager and his mother has remarried.

Arrow owes a debt to Batman. Oliver the shallow man with a lavish lifestyle. At night he becomes the vigilante Arrow want to bring down the people who are ruining Starling City. The first person he aims at is Adam Hunt.

A fast moving episode. You get flashbacks to the shipwreck, you have a former girlfriend who is angry at Amell for running off with her sister, who also died in the shipwreck.

I could sense some friends might not be too friendly for long but I did not expect treachery in the family.

It was a puzzle how Amell brushed up his cyber skills in a desert island.

Good Start
bsoxfan-8191824 October 2022
Arrow is definitely one of a kind. Oliver has a great and very mysterious personality. I like how cold he is and makes me wonder what exactly happened on that island, the scars might give it some spice. One other thing is how skilled Oliver is, Who trained him? Who has he fought? The theory I would put is a possible League of Shadows training just like Bruce Wayne. Oliver's family has some realism with how distant they are. On one end we have the new step dad of the queens. Thea is not taking it well by doing heavy drugs to cope with the stress and loss she has endured. Moira is plotting some interrogation on Oliver about her husband, who seemed to be part of some crusade and most likely not a good one. Laurel is one of the best written characters so far. Laurel and her dad who is the detective are very similar to how I would imagine Jim and Barbara are. Tommy brings a lot of humor to this show and gives this show comfort with his friendship with Oliver. To conclusion this episode was a great start, the plot was simple but with the cinematography mixed in with the dark tone brings this show this badass feeling to it. I'm very excited to see where these characters and their relationships go. On to the next episode.

You've got to be kidding me

Warning: Spoilers
All right. so i watch the pilot episode of a series with 8.4 points, i do not expect a lot from a pilot which usually have lower budget than the rest of episodes. but common! the rich guy suddenly knows EVERYTHING? from killing people to internet transfer of untraceable money? from high-tech computer installing in an abandoned warehouse to making his own super-weapons?. in general the acting is from regular to bad, the effects look quite fake, and honestly it looks like they wanted to fit a long story in 20 minutes. i'll give a try at the 2nd episode, but if it doesn't get WAY better i'll just send this one to the failed series book together with alcatras and American horror story.

Background Score : Very Good

Soundtrack : Existence not found

Cinematography : Good

Editing : Very Good

Set : Good

Location : Very Good

Sound Recording : Good Enough

Vfx : Good

Overall Ratings : Eight out of ten.

When I review episodes, that review is based entirely on my own personal ideas. Seeing the episodes of any season of any series, I think I write it in the review. I know, maybe in my reviews I often write something bad, like the writers didn't write the story well or the director didn't do well or the actors-actresses over-acted. But I don't use foul language or profanity in my reviews. If I unknowingly hurt someone in my review or if someone feels bad after reading my review, then I sincerely apologize to him.

I thank you for reading my review so patiently.

new hero

Warning: Spoilers
It was kind of nice-made drama. The simple content is Oliver Queen, who is a main character of this drama stayed an island dominated in China, because he was wrecked from a boat. After 5 years, he was rescued and his family were happy. But his mother was remarried with his dad's colleague. And also the city and also his dad's factory is being strange. He was being a hero, named Arrow and he is going to attack villains. Adam hunt, a bad man existed on this drama, and Oliver Queen got 4 million dollar from him. Arrow is a millionaire on the day, while he is a hero using an arrow on night. This drama is interesting even this is number one of season 1. I would recommend to you guys, who want interesting and hero story. Maybe Oliver would be a hero and fight for the villains on next number of this drama. And also Stephen Amell is so cool and handsome, too. I actually liked Oliver Queen because he was so strong, for example in the scene where he was doing pull ups with a removable bar.

9.1/10, Great Episode
dcdude-2698811 July 2023
This should honesly be higher rated on this app. This was an amazing start to a show for just a first episode. My favorite characters in this episode were Oliver, Laurel, and Roy. My favorite things about this episode were the Protagonist, the pacing, and the action. I found this website where it tells me the canon episodes in the Arrowverse, and another where it tells me when I should stop watching. I will watch seasons 1-2 of arrow and stop on 3x09, and watch The Flash seasons 1-2 and end it right there. This is most likely going to be a quick watch, but I also have to make reviews of these episodes.

Pilot
praneethnov8 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The first episode of the superhero show which ran for 8 seasons does not disappoint. This episode manages to accomplish a lot in its 42-minute runtime with a quick pacing but never feeling rushed.

The titular character, Oliver Queen is primarily focused on, so all the main characters are introduced from his perspective. He has a very distinct and dark backstory, which feels refreshing and different enough from that of other superhero characters. We also get to meet his mother, Moira Queen, stepfather Walter Steele, driver/bodyguard John Diggle, sister Thea Queen and best friend Tommy Merlyn. We are also introduced to Laurel Lance (his ex-girlfriend) and her father Quentin Lance, who is set on catching the vigilante (Oliver Queen).

The episode is surprisingly grounded and the action sequences are pretty cool, especially by TV show standards and the flashbacks do a good job of establishing just how much Oliver's experiences on Lian Yu have changed him.

This is my first episode to episode review and I will try my best to keep up with it. I don't really like episode to episode reviews because I believe each episode goes together and I rather just rate the entire show. I will give it a try.

I wanted to try Arrow because I like Flash I think there is some cross over. I love Super hero movies even in my old age but I have to admit I am movie loving super hero person not a die hard comic book fan. I am guilty of not knowing which ones are from marvel and which ones are from DC until I look it up. I have to look it up every time LOL.

Honestly I had to look up whether this guy was even a real comic book super hero I had never heard of him. The ideas of some rich kid running around town with a hood on shooting arrows really seemed super corny. Almost like a bad take on a modern day Robin Hood. Ehh I caved.

This was the first episode it left it a lot to be desired. It was as corny and predictable as I thought. I guess I have to keep in mind that is is a comic.
