- Pizza and Karaoke is the new television series that looks into the lives of young people as they try to find their place in this world. In particular Chris Batzakidou, a 15 year old high school freshman who has spent his entire life being "average". He is average in his mind as well as the minds of others. He is not only average, but he is also invisible. In school, he is not the jock or rebel, nor the class clown or brainiac, or even the nerd. At home, he is the middle child who is overshadowed by his popular, handsome, jock older brother and gorgeous younger, diva sister. People don't even call him by his full name. He is simply called Chris B. because his last name is too hard to pronounce. All Chris ever dreams of is to possess that one special characteristic that will lift him out of the Average Zone. Just one... not two or three, just one!—P&K press release
- Well, you know what they say . . . be careful what you wish for. During one of Chriss normal routine days, he does his usual humming as he takes his books out of his locker. This time, since no one seems to be around, Chris breaks out into full song. Chris belts out the chorus in a tone that would make the gates of heaven open and have every Angel listening with eyes and mouths wide open. OK, if not the angels, at least the chorus teacher, Mr. Mister or Mr. M. as he prefers, who was coming around the corner at the time. Mr. M doesnt hesitate to ask Chris to join the chorus club. Chris doesnt hesitate to say no. Mr. Mister even tries to coax Chris by telling him he will give him singing lessons to help him win the local karaoke contest. In return all Chris has to do is transfer into the choir for this one semester. Chris quickly rejects this offer. Just as this happens, a couple of hot chicks eye the karaoke flyer, and Chris overhears them talking about how sexy male singers are. After hearing this, Chris quickly changes his mind and agrees to Mr. Ms singing lessons. After a few episodes of cold feet and weeks of intense practice Chris is ready for his big debut!
The karaoke contest is held at the local pizza parlor. That Thursday night, a star is born. To Chriss surprise and everyone else in attendance, Chris puts on an absolutely Star Studded performance. Not only can he sing but he can sang as one student in the audience puts it. Chris B.s dreams have now become a reality. He is on his way to become a Pop Star. Until Ms. Sylvia Batzakidou, throws a monkey wrench into the equation. Chriss mom strongly discourages him against pursuing his new found stardom. She has seen first hand what a Pop Star kind of lifestyle can do to an individual. Her late husband, the one time front man of an up and coming rock band, died of an overdose, as a result of living the rock and roll lifestyle. Ms. Batzakidous greatest nightmare has always been that one of her children would inherit their fathers love and passion for the music industry. Chriss dream is slowly becoming a memory and now it seems as though he will have to go back to being Average. He finally found that one characteristic that he possessed that could move him out of the Average Zone, but his mother will not allow him to use it. What a blow to Chris. Now he will have to wait until he moves away from home to finally realize his dream.
