A Great Series Premier

Action, new characters, and new places all come together with a bang in the season 3 premier. However, it seems that the shining stars of this episode were the writing and the acting, while everything about the music was, as always, sub-par. I want to say I'm just nitpicking, but the use of music in this episode completely takes the drama out of its most important scenes, following an artless formula that is truly disrespectful to anyone who cares.

Fiona wakes up late but the house is running because Jimmy (no longer Steve) has taken care of everything. Debbie misses Frank and we then switch to Frank waking up in Mexico at the time of Easter. Once the kids leave Fiona tells Jimmy not to be so soft on the kids and give them some boundaries. Lip and Ian are first seen this season running after stealing from the campus, while Ian gets away Lip is left to get arrested. Shelia and Jody are still looking after Karen's baby. Back to Frank in Mexico who cannot get back into the states without his passport or any sort of ID. Fiona about to go to work complains to Veronica about Jimmy not doing anything. Jimmy sees a car across the street and when he goes out to see what's going on it's his ex-wife's father. Lip goes in front of the judge and pleads not guilty with the charges pressed against him. Estefania is found and her father then shoots her naked lover. Frank try's to call many people from Mexico but no one answers so he must find his own way home. Frank then gets some help across the border ends up on the run as a bunch of cars show up and corner him. Fiona returns home after work finding Jimmy burning his clothes that the audience knows was because of the dead body. Ian is still sleeping with Jimmy's father. Fiona wakes up late again and Jimmy still runs the house well. Fion after losing her job finds it hard to find one even with her GED. Fiona returns to her old work place and asks to promote the club one night. Frank is able to get his fake passport in return for smuggling drugs across the border lines. Frank gets across the border while he also see Lip's robot win a robot fighting competition. Fiona gives money to the club owner and gets the chance of a night to promote. At the end of the episode Frank walks back in and while Debbie hugs him everyone else at the table goes on normally not paying any attention to him. Good return to the season and as always Frank is my least favourite character and they once gave him an awful plot. Emmy was good but I wish she was given much more to do.
