Weird and Sweet K-Drama
thalassafischer3 August 2023
If this show, with this title, were American it would probably "ironically" be about some rude self obsessed bartenders and waitstaff, and it's even different from the similarly named British classic comedy Are You Being Served? Which was more of class-war statement about the stiff upper lip of the British middle and upper classes and the trod upon, eccentric working class people who sold them clothes in the 1970s.

No, this charming Korean supernatural fantasy drama isn't even horror - it's legitimately about helping other people. Specifically helping the dead and their families ... though the twenty-something funeral director is stressed and resistant about her fate for obvious reasons.

I guess this could be compared to Highway to Heaven or Touched by an Angel except it has a decidedly Buddhist angle as well as Christian rather than being rigidly Christofascist. The servants of the dead are entirely human and flawed, not angelic or perfect.

I came back after watching more episodes to raise the rating of this excellent K-Drama. I mean if you look at a K-Drama for what it is (a soap opera) this is a really great show, I actually found it highly addictive and couldn't stop watching it. I loved the main characters.

Cute but a little shallow
sophiamarinova23 November 2022
So I have the privilege of seeing this series on Amazon prime in the western hemisphere. I generally enjoy it this far, some good visuals, sense of magic common to kdramas more so than any other industry in my view, and good acting. Sweet moments which is generally appreciated. I have a few complaints. There are some cliche ideas to begin with. For example I find that some characters were befallen my major misfortunes that are incredibly unlikely in real life, so while the case led to very entertaining couple of episodes, I couldn't help but wonder why kdramas feature unnecessary cruel and unlikely occurrences. Second, the piggy back ride- it can be very endearing but I feel like men shouldn't have to piggyback women as an expectation. Women need to show a whole lot of appreciation and frankly avoid getting so drunk. It's a vehicle that makes female audiences swoon over handsome Korean stars but it's somewhat misleading and not fair. Third, why not give someone a hug more freely when they're feeling down? For sure there may be cultural differences but if you're hugging this same person for piggy backs, you should be able to offer some emotional support even simply as a friend. Finally the mechanism of scoffing is overused. Still entertaining and well put together. I'll probably see it to the end.

Beautifully portrayed

Warning: Spoilers
After long time watch a good kdrama.

What a beautiful ending.. perfectly explained everything and show the connections between the characters.. really an amazing ending.

All the actors were too good.

Both leads looks so good together with less romance their chemistry looks so so good..

Love they way the writer handled some situations no exaggeration no build ups nothing just simple way they showed the situations. That's one of the best thing.

It's very sad that this kinds of shows always stays underrated and some shows which have no plot nothing get limelight.. and also the actors..

These genre drama are always good.

Please... Just Watch :)

I cannot describe how much I love this show. I watched a whole lot of k-drama in the past three years. And finally, I felt like I have nothing to watch. Then I saw this. Usually I watch rom-com so my first reaction was to pass this. But I really love Hyeri and since I had nothing else in my mind I decided to give it a chance. And I loved it.

I really love both leads. I think they are doing a fantastic job in acting. And I think they have a really good chemistry. I have never seen male lead in anything before and after watching this show I watched more of his work and I also visited Hyeri's old works too.

Also... I loveeee the writing. I cannot believe how much I am waiting for a new episode. I cannot get this show out of my mind. I love the comedy aspect of it, and the light romance, and the beautifully portrayed drama of the passing of the loved ones. It is sad, but not very dark. You feel like you should hold onto life more.

I am a person with depression and this drama came to my life in a really good time. I feel at ease after I watch every episode.

I just hope they wrap this up nicely. I watched so many great shows with so many disappointing endings. I really hope this would not be the case at all for this show.

Hyeri and Jun <3 nothing but love for you.

The good deeds of many and the kind and beautiful nature of humanity have all created a miracle...
hanalisss28 December 2022
I enjoyed this drama a lot. I thought this was going to be tge typical tearjerker series which target easy sensitive audience but It actually surprised me.

At the end of this drama you will feel an uncontrollable eagerness to appreciate those around you and will want to live your own life as it wasn't a tomorrow, you never know what is going to happen so do everything you want and be happy.

EVERYTHING and I mean literally everything in this drama is connected, and the best thing is you don't even realize and it's not predictable whatsoever.

Very dark moments that will make you emotional but each story is beautiful written and it won't let you unsatisfied.

The first half of the series is a bit more upbeat and comedy and romance took more of the center stage. I enjoyed the chemistry between the leads and I laughed with the situations amidst the dramatic events.

The second half of the series is a bit slower and focused more on the main backstories of the two leads. A bit more heavy in drama and quite emotional, but the magnificent ending and closure of the story will leave a sweet aftertaste and you will end up smiling and feeling hopeful for this life.

I absolutely adore Hye Ri is just brilliant at acting, her range is just crazy wide, she masters comedy and drama perfectly and if you know her you know her capability of actually crying at command, so I know her scenes are pure art.

Its my 5th drama enjoying this super young actor ( he is only 25 here) Jun-Young and I think he will get far as well, his career so far is impressive and I love seeing him on more prominent roles, although he has almost always had main roles, which is fantastic. His aura is a bit more mature and he looks older so he is perfect playing older characters.

Overall a great watch.

Highly recommended drama
khanhhuynh-3319123 December 2022
I never wrote a movie/drama review but this drama is an exception. It drives my feelings like on a roller-coaster and I may need time to get over it. The story is a bit slow sometimes and people may lose their patience for it, but there is always a reason behind those scenes. I love Dong Ju character's personality so much, such a warm and cool young lady. I cried like a river watching the last episode. The messages delivered by this drama are so meaningful. Love the cast, especially two main leads, their acting and chemistry are superb. It s sad that there is nothing for me to look forward to in every Wed and Thu now. But hopefully, there will be season 2 with the same main leads.

Worth the watch!
whereismscarla3 December 2022
I've watched a few Kdramas and just happened to fall upon this one. It's a good story. It can be a little infuriating but luckily you have a new episode waiting for you so you don't have to wait to see what happens next. The characters are all connected in some form or another and you also get to know each of their personalities and stories. I still have about 6 episodes to go. But when it comes on, it has my undivided attention. It has subtitles, so if that bothers you, this isn't the show for you. But I promise you will love how it plays out. No spoilers, you have to watch it for yourself. But you will enjoy it.

A MUST WATCH HEALING DRAMA!!
acissejvega24 December 2022
At first, I click because of Hyeri. I watched her MRIAG drama last year, so I said, okay let's give a try to dig deeper. Then, I was hooked to the story since it relates so much to my family's pain about death. DJ story is same with us. I really love the chemistry of Junyoung and Hyeri here. They give me so much comfort and hope that life will not end when someone you love will be gone. Their relationship is mature and healthy. Overall, this drama will be a treasure in my heart because of the story and that I found Lee junyoung as my bias. He is a good actor, singer and rapper.

Hoping for more people to love this drama.

lost the plot near the end
holygrailmonalisa22 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't sure about watching this series but I got hooked after the first episode. I kinda liked the connections between people and how their good deeds would come back to them. But I really was disappointed near the end and I lost interest after episode 13.

I don't understand why kdramas need so much twists and turns. This show had enough twists already. There wasn't really a need to have an unexpected evil character. It really didn't make sense, so I stopped watching.

Such a waste of potential.

On the positive side, I liked the gradual character development. How they grow and change.

P.s.: The priest was the most likable character in my opinion :)

May I Help You?
YourOnlyOne25 December 2022
At first, one would think it is just another comedy, 'feel good', "very fictional", TV series. It was easy to drop it just because. But, a fair warning, doing so would be to your detriment. This series is about life, the value of relationships, and yes, what death means for you and me.

The story transcends faith and religion. This was beautifully depicted with the Catholic priest and the Catholic confessional box; as well as, by the Buddhism beliefs of the other characters. Life, relationships, and death, are universal, and commonly have the same depth of meaning regardless of one's faith and religion.

It is not about ghosts. In fact, there is nothing paranormal in the story, rather, it is more supernatural. A higher being supernaturally allowed the female lead character to have a spiritual "Stella's touch". One last opportunity for the dead to make their wishes known; and for the living to have peace.

The ending is a must-watch, but only if one watched the series from the beginning without skipping anything. It is rare to see an ending that blows the audience, and leaves a long-lasting impression. An ending deserving of the beautifully woven story of the male and female lead characters, and their relationships with their loved ones, their regrets, and their hopes.

This TV drama is a story about you and me. It is a story about the living and our dearly departed. It is a story of healing and moving on. A story of regrets and hopes. It is painful, sad, and you will definitely cry no matter how strong you may be. But in the end, it reminds us how good it is to live, and that all the pain and hardships of life we may have gone through and will go through, are nothing compared to having been loved.

May I Help You?

Not Good Enough
PennyReviews30 January 2023
Korean Drama " May I Help You " is a fantasy romantic comedy.

The story has some lightness to it, even though it handles more sensitive matters as well as some emotional cases. Unfortunately, the pacing of the story is all over the place, failing to introduce properly the story in the first episodes and then getting slower and slower towards the ending.

In addition, the main plot was boring. The love story was predictable and the chemistry just okay, which didn't aid to the romance at all. The friendship was nice though.

Finally, the performances were all enjoyable and decent from everyone in the cast.

So, overall, two out of ten.

I had too high of an expectation, needless to say I was disappointed.
hasansaara12 March 2023
The story started off good, was predictable, but still good, yet as we progressed I completely lost interest.

There are multitude of reasons for that. For one, the drama has absolutely not explored the female lead, like at all, all we know about her is her pretty one dimensional background and yes, of course that she is willing to wait for the male lead. Nothing more than that, it wasn't touched how emotionally exhausting her job is, or how she deals with it at all. We do not take a deep dive into her world of emotions, or how complicated her everyday life might be getting due to her job.

It makes you wonder just how can she possibly be emotionally available 24/7 for the male lead and is willing to do quite possibly everything. It gets tiring after a while and makes you see how extremely shallow their relationship is.

Not to mention the side stories were much more interesting than the main. That's enough of a testament to how extremely repetitive and annoying the main story was getting.

The plot was getting dragged on and was getting forcibly continued. There was not a speck of interest left in me by the end of the story and that should say enough.

My favourite character might just have been the uncle(similarities probs?) No character got me emotionally involved in them. Like no one. For the latter half of the story I probably had a 'meh' expression on my face.

I guess after watching few korean dramas like Vincenzo and Flowers of Evil, I had too high of an expectation which pretty much got trampled. Point to note: I am not an avid k-drama watcher, yet I had been lucky enough to always chance upon gems, probably the reason for such huge disappointment.

Tried hard to care for any of the characters, liked 1
gamesinfoprofile13 December 2022
The plot had potential but the characters are mostly all jerks. Their emotions have no consistency, especially the male lead. Too many cliches justifying bad behaviour, especially his horrifying behaviour towards his ex.

The supporting actors have slightly better characters written for them. The police officer, the priest and the lead actress' father are alright.

Some sensitive topics are dealt with extremely poorly and it shows the lack empathy from the writers.

Overall, the feel good moments aren't enough to suffer through the series. Things either conveniently fall into place or linger unresolved. Quitting mid-series.

Edit: Watched episode 15 for Song Duk Ho's incredible performance in the first half of the episode.
