The boring life of ...
kosmasp31 December 2020
Getting a few seconds in with a cam girl are probably really exciting (I have not done that, I probably would be weirded out by it ... then again, I'm not knocking it or attempting to shame anyone). This is quite the .. draining look at the whole thing. Boyfriend included - also some nudity. Which is not exploitative, in case you were wondering.

While the nice to look at main actress is doing her preparation (which most will not really care about) and we watch her routine warming up to chat with anyone willing to pay her, we may be left wondering what the psychology is. There are some interesting questions raised and the boyfriend factor adds a lot to the mixture ... and then there is ... well the ending, which I gues is sort of a twist. You may feel it is cliche, but it is overall well made.

And don't forget, this is a short movie. Even if in certain sections it feels like it is too long for its own good ... decent effort, but not enough psychology behind it to really let it shine through

Watch Me, Alone: The Unsexiness of Cam Work
Elijah_T29 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Nevermind why I was watching this in the first place. It's a fairly solid short film with more to its plot than people would have you believe, especially once the description is taken into account and it's watched a second time. There's about as much shown as is said here. About Anna's relationships, how she feels about her job, how her boyfriend feels overall, etc. It left me wondering what life is really like for a cam girl. How it affects one's day-to-day, romantic life, and overall mentality.

The film opens to the sight of Anna getting ready for work by eating a single piece of toast with some jam lightly scraped on, for Odin's sake. Is this meant to represent her lack of vital nutrients? That she's unwisely satisfying herself with inadequacy? Maybe it's just a late night snack and I'm being over analytical. Either way, the film raises questions, and believe it or not opens itself up to quite the potential discussion.

I feel the need to mention a few key things...

1) There's a scene with a particular visual that gave me a slight chuckle once it registered. Of all the things, I wasn't expecting that.

2) Anna's job is on full display here. Both her prep and camera work. Yes, that means half-body nudity. The obscenity, however, is rather lite. Speaking of prep, though, the film does well at making it a slow tease. One can really get the feeling of carefully getting ready for work.

3) While I really enjoyed the music, it was clearly edited by someone who lacked experience. Now that I think about it, I should be clearer here. The video editor lacked experience, so music would cut in and out with the scene in an abrupt manner... just like the scene.

4) The entire ending must not be spoiled. And gosh darn it, that's what makes this so difficult to review or even talk about.
