I watched this documentary because I hoped to get a better picture of how Middle Earth was influenced by Mr. Tolkin's life and thoughts. While I enjoyed watching the movies, I wouldn't consider myself a die-hard fan of the series. Still you can't but admit that it is impressive what a detailed world Middle Earth is.
While I did get to know some aspects of Tolkien's thoughts that I hadn't been aware of before, I have to say that most of the time this documentary is for real fans only. It talks a lot about landscapes and linguistics, topics that aren't for everybody. Also I found it a bit too found of British patriotism, but of course that goes hand in hand with its message.
It's surely not a waste of time to give this a try, especially for lovers of Tolkien's work, but I doubt you will feel baffled as well.
