Establishing an Exciting Future

"Dispossessed" furthers all its characters into much more layered and intriguing places, sowing the seeds for plenty of drama to come. The final sequence, in particular, is a tense and well-handled scene that creates a true feeling of dread by its end. I also enjoyed the growing dynamic between Athelstan, Ragnar and his family, which gave them all the humanity they needed for me to really begin connecting with them.

Warning: Spoilers
Ragnar returns home with Rollo and his crew but Earl Haraldson claims the possession of the treasure, allowing each man to take only one piece. Ragnar selects the monk Athelstan to be his slave. Ragnar gets close to the monk and asks many questions to Athelstan to learn the structure of England and the behavior of people and learns English. Then he convinces Haraldson to let him go West again. He accepts provided Ragnar lets Knut go with him. Ragnar invites Lagherta to join his crew and lets Bjorn, Gyda and his farm under the command of Athelstan.

"Dispossessed" shows the evilness of Earl Haraldson and how smart Ragnar is. He learns how England is to prepare a next raid. The great surprise is his decision to let Lagherta go with him and putting Athelstan in charge of his family and farm. My vote is eight.

They come back.. with the priest

Warning: Spoilers
Ragnar returns with his crew and happy but they take a discontent to know that the king only lets them take one thing from the loot and Ragnar chooses the priest. In this episode you can perfectly see the cruelty and selfishness of the king, feeling superior than everyone else just for being king. After all, Ragnar convinces him to make another trip to England, since the priest told him what was there. This chapter is better than the previous two because there are new characters and there are others that evolve more and more.

I love this show! I want more!
