Following May screenings of their giallo-inspired feature Sororal at the Fantaspoa Film Festival in Porto Alegre, Brazil, the team at Nakatomi Pictures announce the release of the film's soundtrack, marking the milestone with the unveiling of the official poster artwork.
From the Press Release:
In aspiring to produce Australia’s first neo-giallo thriller, writer-director Sam Barrett was aware from the outset that the score would be critical to successfully creating the surreal parallel universe in Sororal.
He put the challenge in front of composer Christopher de Groot.
“A lot has been said about the beautiful imagery in hallmark giallo films, but there is no over-estimating the importance of music in the genre. The best giallo scores can take you away to a strange dream world that is beautiful, erotic, and frightening, a world which Chris has definitely sculpted for Sororal,” says Barrett. “True, we used a dizzying array of references as a starting point,...

You only hurt the ones you love! Thus reads the tagline from Sororal, a film from Nakatomi Pictures. Sororal is what many consider the first attempt at an Australian neo gaillo horror film, and is aiming for completion later this year before it reaches the festival circuit. Inspired by the Italian genre of crime and mystery in literature and film (or giallo), which became synonymous with the pulp of the past and with such luminaries as Alfred Hitchcock and Raymond Chandler, Sororal is trying to bring that type of thriller back to audiences around the world.
We have a new teaser, entitled “Visions,” below, as well as some information about its cast, crew and the plot. Sororal looks genuinely creepy cool, so we’ll be keeping tabs on this one as we learn more.
Summary Info:
Sororal neo giallo horror, 105 mins in post-production for completion in September 2012 $1 million budget shot on Red One in Perth,...

Sam Barrett’s neo-giallo thriller Sororal borrows heavily from Bava. The third feature from Nakatomi Pictures, Sororal follows Cassie (Amanda Woodhams), a psychic who sees her friends being sliced apart by a straight razor-wielding maniac. Sound familiar?
“The psychic witness is something we borrowed and re-mixed from several sources. Bava's The Girl Who Knew Too Much, Don't Look Now and Eyes of Laura Mars all played a part in the genesis of Cassie's curse," Barrett said via Twitch.com. "There is something so deliciously tragic about being forced to watch horrific acts of murder. Cassie is powerless to stop the visions and it is that terrible sense that fuels her need to stop the killer at all costs. The lurid giallo aesthetic is used to pull the audience into Cassie's distorted world; it is like we've been dragged into one of her paintings."

Here's the exclusive second teaser for Sororal, Australia's first neo-giallo feature from the creative team at Nakatomi Pictures. Titled 'Visions,' the new teaser is "a tantalising sample of the terror that grips the film's heroine Cassie without warning. The murderous visions themselves are disturbing images but even more frightening is their irresistible power to seize her violently at any moment. Cassie is a hostage to these terrifying visions, forced to witness a killer's bloodlust without the capacity to disconnect from, or 'un-see' these brutal killings."Director Sam Barrett is fond of the psychic captive concept. "The psychic witness is something we borrowed and re-mixed from several sources. Bava's The Girl Who Knew Too Much, Don't Look Now and Eyes of Laura Mars all played a part in the...
