Three Kayan women decide to travel from their remote village in the Kayah State of Myanmar to sell handicrafts in the distant city of Taunggyi, in the Shan State. They are accompanied by a Kayan girl, who has just had the tribe's heavy decorative brass and silver rings placed around her neck, arms and legs. Upon arriving in Taunggyi, crowds gather to stare at the Kayan womens unique style.
The four set off to find a place to stay, and then to explore the city and its market. When the girl strays from her friends, she is kidnapped by human traffickers. As the Kayan women search for the girl in the market, one of them is surprised to meet her former lover, who had left her behind in the village years earlier after she refused to go with him to Taunggyi. He tries once again to convince her to stay in Taunggyi to make their life together there. Now, far from home and out of their element, the Kayan women desperately search for the girl.
